#1 The Least intelligent tactic you've ever heard of?
Inspired by a thread on STrek-v-SWars...
What's the least intelligent tactic you've ever heard of or seen in sci-fi?
For me, I'd have to say it's the one which influenced this thread. Klingons in spacesuits shooting droid starfighters on the hulls of their own ships with hand disruptors...

I'll see you that and raise you a cavalry charge against war elephants, LoTR: RotK the movie.
Not SF, strictly speaking, but it got a facepalm from me the first time I saw it. And indeed, all the other times.

How about trying to re-introduce the 'slow walk' after the machine gun had been invented. Actually happened: WWI
(The slow walk was from the days of muskets and such, where soldiers stood shoulder to shoulder and advanced. Bad enough then, but trying to take a fortified trench? And MACHINE GUNS. come on.)

I still think RotK takes it. Seriously, what was going through Theoden's head?

Made less stupid by the fact that the Feddies have the worst possible gun design, wouldn't know what an automatic is, and only after a war of genocide rediscovered the stock.Petrosjko wrote:Klingons carrying bat'leths and actually trying to employ them. 'Nuff said.

Balanced by the fact that they spent most of their time allied to the Federation, which makes them even MORE STUPID.Lord Stormbringer wrote:Made less stupid by the fact that the Feddies have the worst possible gun design, wouldn't know what an automatic is, and only after a war of genocide rediscovered the stock.Petrosjko wrote:Klingons carrying bat'leths and actually trying to employ them. Allied no. Glaring at wishing they had a reason to fight. How many times did the situation with the Klingon's nearly break out into full blown war?Petrosjko wrote:Balanced by the fact that they spent most of their time allied to the Federation, which makes them even MORE STUPID.Lord Stormbringer wrote:Made less stupid by the fact that the Feddies have the worst possible gun design, wouldn't know what an automatic is, and only after a war of genocide rediscovered the stock.Petrosjko wrote:Klingons carrying bat'leths and actually trying to employ them. They're stupid to be sure but it's not like they're facing competent enemies either.

We're screwed anyway, as we're now surrounded, as the Druedain brounght us through behind The King of Angmar's lines, using back routes which have now closed, so we may as well die fighting, unless something rediculously convinient happens such as the King of Arnor showing up having hijacked Sauron's fleet?Pcm979 wrote:I still think RotK takes it. EDIT Though the film doesn't make this clear, in both battles Theoden is seen to fight in, there's no way out. It seems to be his 'thing.'
