Or just go with the Culture in the first place...

Much nicer people... and a much better Utopia... since all life is for the average human is sex... sex... and a bit more sex.
Seriously, let's stay on topic. The OP is about which you'd chose between Trek and Wars, and you're reasons for doing so. Injecting other options is side tracking.

*is reprogramming the holodeck*

I'm just putting the finishing touches upon the Culture now...

For you see... the Culture, created by Iain M. Banks, is a 20th-21st Century Piece of Literature... and would exist in the Federation, since it is a future-version of our own world...

Thus, the Culture IS an option.

In other words, you have now chosen the Trek universe. That was my point.

Aye, I've chosen the trek universe, but I choose to live in the holodeck, away from the hellhole that is the Federation...

Or possibly Risa...

Pretty much my sentiments. Maybe a holodeck system on Risa would be ideal. Just some extra security and safeguards for my particular model holodeck of course. When I'm not re enacting other universes, including the Trek one, I'm sunning on the beach.

HEAR HEAR!!!

Of course, the beach wasn't EXACTLY what I had in mind...

It was the entirely free sex of the planet... the women, so many beautiful (albeit slightly alien) women

Well, you have to takes breaks from your lustful adventures eventually.

And besides, why the heck are you going to bother with the women on Risa anyhow? You have the holodeck...design your perfect women (ten at once if you really wanted) as your willing sex slaves who's sole programming, er, purpose is to please you.

You raise an irrefutable, unarguable and impossibly brilliant point...

Well, you can have: A) woman you need to talk to, wait for, pay for, hope she's into what you like, etc. Or... B) you can have one (or hundreds) who talk only about what you want when you want, you pay nothing for and do anything and everything you want. Kinda hard to beat that.

The thread is not about the details of your particular holodeck fantasies. Enough.
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

Sounds dull to me. A puppet on a string, not as a minion, but as a companion?

Boring.

Oops, well the Borg kinda... assimilated Risa. So that option is out.

Anyway, if life under the Empire may not have been too much different than it was under the Republic, then I'll stick with the Warsverse.

Sorry guys, but if I'd prefer a real Twi'lek chick for my g/f, not some holographic masturbatory fantasy. Even if I did want that, Wars does have similar "holographic entertainment" technology, kinda making the point moot. At any rate, you can keep your holodecks.
