Discuss this episode here.
I know it's a little early in the day to post it, but I decided to have the thread up and running anyway (probably because I'll be too busy to remember later).

Starbuck: "We're friendlies! We're all friendlies! Let's be... fiendly!"
And the Cylon Resurrection Ship is... AWESOME. Looks like a Gothic cathedral, and Gothism always gets ten points in my book!

Dear god. As if we needed any more proof that Cain's a murderous lunatic, she ordered the families of any civilians that resisted to be executed.

Amazing, utterly amazing.
The President suggesting killing Cain suprised me. I didn't think she of all people would think of that.
The flybys of the Vipers in the beginning was awesome. It would have sucked if they simply started shooting - there would have been no return.
The Pegasus has some more hi-tech things - automatic doors, talking computers.
The assassinations will be awesome.
I love the way that next time on nBSG at the end was mostly clips of this week.
Camp the Cylon spawn point!

Now, if Cain is killed off, what happens to the Pegasus? Would it join the fleet under Adama with the XO as the new commander? Or is it going to be destroyed by Cylons or something lame like that?
I just don't see the Pegasus stayingaround after all this is through, but I hope it does. It's a beautiful ship.

I'm personally hoping the Pegasus goes back and helps the Caprica resistance people while the Galactica goes on to find Earth. Oh, and Gina gets as far away from that ship as is Humanly (Cylonly?) possible.
Yes, the space battle was fucking superb. I especially loved that hotshot Pegasus pilot jacking around with the female rookie pilot.
Oh, and how as soon as the "Raider" (Starbuck) shows up, people who were *this* close from killing each other suddenly all swoop off together to confront what they saw as a threat.
Starbuck and Cain actually agreeing on something? Now that was a very spooky moment.
Anyway, was I just looking at it wrong, or did the Cylon Resurrection Ship seen in the last episode (Pegasus) look nothing like what we saw in this ep?
Overall, I give this episode five Vipers out of five.

The picture might have been taken at a funny angle, and it was at a distance. But still, I thought it looked like some sort of flattish disk thingy in that picture last episode rather than a skeleton cathedral. (Maybe it was at a funny enough angle that Caprica Boomer really couldn't recognize it. It seems like she would know about Resurrection Ships, but we don't know how many other kinds of ships the Cylons have. They might have Raider nursery ships for all we know.)Ra wrote: Anyway, was I just looking at it wrong, or did the Cylon Resurrection Ship seen in the last episode (Pegasus) look nothing like what we saw in this ep?
I'm trying to remember where it was said, but the new Cylons may have made themselves a little too human. I wonder if their realization of their own mortality might have been the basis of their religiousity. The walking chrome toasters might not have enough intelligence to wonder about death, and we know the Raiders have only animal-level intelligence, but when did the new models create their consciousness-transferring technology? Was it before they got themselves emotions, such as the fear of death?

Yeah, I thought the same thing. It actually looked much more like the original Hades-class basestar in a way. Perhaps, because the design is so spindly, it was actually flattened in the first image, and "deployed" later? Anyone got good pics of it from Pegasus (the episode)?Mayabird wrote:The picture might have been taken at a funny angle, and it was at a distance. Indeed, Gina immediately recognized the design once Starbuck had a closer look, I would think CapBoomer would as well. If it was a bad angle, or an outright bad shot, she indeed wouldn't have recognized it.(Maybe it was at a funny enough angle that Caprica Boomer really couldn't recognize it. A Raider nursery is highly likely too, possibly as part of a larger station or factory ship. The buggy things are grown in the nurseries, and then plopped into the Raiders, which are built assembly-line style.
Agreed. The Cylons, despite wanting to exterminate Humanity, in essence became almost exactly like us. Once sentient Cylons were born they, like us, wondered what was after death, and did everything in their power to prolong their own lives. (Un)Fortunately for them, they accomplished what we can't, immortality, by consciousness-transfer.I'm trying to remember where it was said, but the new Cylons may have made themselves a little too human. I personally think that the Human-forms likely developed this technology right off the bat, as soon as they came "online", if we accept that they have always been sentient (there could have been "prototypes" that were sub-sentient, I suppose).

Instead of actually transferring their consciousnesses, they could have simply copied their memory banks before going on a mission, so that their experience would not be lost if something bad happened. If successful, they could copy their new memories afterwards. If unsuccessful, more copies can be made (or the memories could be acquired by other Cylons). Emotionless, without fear of personal death, it would probably be an acceptable arrangement, and also one that does not require additional infrastructure such as the Resurrection Ships which also must be heavily guarded, thus requiring more resources.Ra wrote: I personally think that the Human-forms likely developed this technology right off the bat, as soon as they came "online", if we accept that they have always been sentient (there could have been "prototypes" that were sub-sentient, I suppose).
