#1 Yesterday's Enterprise on Spike
I am currently watching Yesterday's Enterprise, perhaps one of the BEST TNG Episodes ever. From the militarized Starfleet and E-D (the D's bridge design in here was excellent I found), to Picard jumping the tactical station and taking command of the weapons directly...

Excellent episode, it's episodes like that which make TNG my favourite out of the five series... Along with "The Defector", "Datalore" and "The Best of Both Worlds". All of which are excellent episodes (even if the latter had something of an anticlimax) and should have been the norm rather than the gems in my opinion.
Unfortunately, Trek didn't have many of these gems... only the constant groan of its own corpse under the molestation of Berman and Braga. Personally, I say that Trek should have ended with TNG... or possibly DS9 at a push. Ah well... I digress.
I suppose the best moments in Star Trek are truly divided amongst the films. "The Klingons have an old proverb: 'revenge is a dish best served cold', space is very cold." "The line must be drawn here, this far, no further." I digress, they even managed to fuck up the films themselves, with Nemesis and Insurrection, damn bits of crap that they are.

I tend to prefer DS-9 to NG.

DS9 is also a great show, but I abhored the ending. Sure, there was some missed potential throughout the series that could have made it amazing, but it still delevired enough for me.
Odo and Quark have a great dynamic. Garak is probably my favourite character from Star Trek. And Dukat was excellent... until the Pah-Wraith bullshit.
By the end, he went from being an interesting, multi sided characted to a useless, crazy idiot. I hated that. Amazingly, I liked the end of Damar. He was quite the ass early on, but he got better.
Anyhow, back to TNG. I am a huge Q fan - every episode featuring him was great. Narrowing the episodes to the very best is hard.
But now I shall try.
TNG's best, in the order they came to mind:
Now, if you asked me to list the TOS episodes which stand out, again in the order they come to mind:
I'll do a DS9 list later; I have to look up the episode names since I only remember a few of them.

You really need to see "The Sound of her Voice", I don't want to spoil it for you, but damn...it was a perfect episode.

Who wants to send me the episode? I can't place it, but want to see it...

#10 Re: Yesterday's Enterprise on Spike
Honestly, I can't bring myself to rate YE so high just because everyone looks kickass. This is partially because the battle sequence just seemed really lackluster, especially compared to the earlier episode The Survivors, and partially because a lot of the episode is dominated by rather dull dialogue.Dark Silver wrote:I am currently watching Yesterday's Enterprise, perhaps one of the BEST TNG Episodes ever. Are there great moments? Yes. Does this a great episode make? I'm not convinced.
Personally, I think an oft-forgotten episode is Gambit; possibly the only watchable episodes of Season 7, it was a really good two-parter with a decent storyline, and went beyond the usual comfort of the ship and the guest star and the location-of-the-week.
