I will admit, however, that GW indulges in price gouging and other not-so-subtle marketing schemes from time to time. Drop pod kits, mini/supplement-codices, and certain model releases (like the Land Raider Crusader) come to mind, but I digress.
I'm uncertain where you get the idea that quality has gone down lately; in fact, quality has very noticeably gone up since the release of 4th Edition. Even a cursory glance at the Space Marine line supports this (or any other recent miniature release, like 'Nids).
Enter 4th Edition. If you're talking about 2nd or 3rd, you might be right. My gaming group is in the process of integrating a newbie Daemonhunters player, and he's picking it up just fine. And while I'm not questioning the need to update and revise needed rule changes, what I do resent is that warhammer has gone from a relatively simple to play and understand, easy to learn game to a daunting thing that requires a degree in advanced comprehension and mathmatics to play properly and have any clue wtf you're doing.
And how is your grot army unviable? Sure, you need an Ork Boss, and many support roles are generally fulfilled with Boyz, but you can still field a legion of grotz.
