And it is a good film. Amazingly, after all this time, I have never seen it. For Christmas, my dad got the DVD box set, and I decided to sit down and watch them.
Alien wasn't all that great, IMO, but Aliens was pretty awesome. There was some stupidity on the parts of many of the characters, but none the less a pretty fun film.
One thing I noticed about both films is they seem to show hard core gore when it comes to the synthetics. They spew their white blood and have their bodies ripped apart. I guess the MPAA figures since they aren't real graphic gore is ok.
I loved how many lines from Starcraft were lifted from this film:
"How do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?"
"In the pipe, five by five."
"Get ready, we're in for some chops"
and "Go go go" (common saying anyways) were the ones I noticed.
I also loved how they actually said nuke the alien scum from orbit. Finally, someone in a movie does what I would have done.
And in the end, it looks like Bishop survived. I almost look forward to Alien 3, though I hear it is pretty bad. Rumour has it the director's cut is much better; perhaps I will watch that DVD next.
But good movie.
Just watched "Aliens"

Are you kidding?! That one is hilarious!!Stofsk wrote:Yeah, Alien 3 is not so much bad as it is anticlimactic.
But whatever you do, don't watch the irredeemable turd that is Alien Resurrection...
Besides, I can identify with the freaky scientist
As for Aliens...
Michael Biehn(Clp Hicks) is fucking sexy, and seeing him with a gun in uniform is, by itself, reason enough to watch the movie.
But it also has very well done xenomorphs

Wow. When watching the film, I thought the music sounded awfully similar to James Horner's work for Star Trek II. Turns out I was right: Horner composed the music for both films.
Not often I am right when it comes to music facts. I'm rather proud of myself.

I just found it to be more boring. As I sat through it, most of the horror parts were predictable, I didn't really care much about the crew surviving or not, and it just seemed to move more slowly.
I should probably watch it again, but it just didn't grab me that well.

Aliens is without a doubt one of the best military sci-fi movies of all time. They did a remarkably good job with the Marines considering they had no military advisor for the staff.
