I noticed that this one was out the last time I visited a bookshop. If anyone has read it, would they like to submit a non-spoilerised review?

Very much rated a 'meh' from me. The Solo kids get tangled up with a bug society, and the Solo parents, after some initial concern, display a very bizarre acceptance of the fact.

The virtue of it was that they didn't make it into the standard 'OMG here come the bugs!' storyline, and there is a neat underlying premise to it that I won't spoil for you.

Concept- decent.
Execution- fair.
Characterizations- weak.

Definitely.

For the literarily-inclined, it's worth the read for the neat concept. Beyond that, well, I read it right after it came out, and I've already forgotten enough of it to not really be able to do a good review on it. That says something.

Damn. And I was hearing nothing but good things in regards to Troy Denning's work as a SW EU author.

He's a mediocre D&D writer, I don't see why that would change when he writes Star Wars.

The only thing I read of his was 'Tattooine Ghost' which was ok. Not great, but not terrible.

He also wrote 'Star By Star' which I've yet to read.

Mostly I was just glad that it didn't add up to another 'OMG ALIEN INVADARS MENACE' plotline. Those got old somewhere around the.... what are the critters from Truce at Bakura?
