#1 Are Ian Esslemont's Malazan books worth reading?

Post by The Nomad »

I've been reading the Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson, and enjoying it so far, but I wondered if the Malazan books authored by his co-universe-builder Ian Esslemont were also interesting, since I'm about to go on a book-buying spree, and wanted to maximize the pleasure/investment ratio.

They aren't as good, but they are still good.

The Prince of Nothing is better.

Yeah, I'm ordering the first tome of TPoN as well

Have you read the fantasy books by Joe Abercrombie (The Blade Itself, Before They Are Hanged, etc...)?

Book Pimping ain't easy is it Cat?

The first two books of the series are good, although the 2nd book dragged in places for me. The dragging was solely because the characters in question annoyed me over their choices, especially when the revel came. To be fair they were in a utterly shitty situation with no real good choices.

I haven't been able to grab a 3rd copy yet. Some asshole at the Barnes and Nobles bought all their copies at once and they're still waiting for more copies.

Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much: the wheel, New York, wars while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in water having a good time.
But the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man for precisely the same reasons

It's easy, except when I have to smack a bitch around.
