I have recieved Hearts of Iron Doomsday, before I muck about I'm reading the manuel and going through the tutorial. I just really have one question for y'all. How do I do screenshots?

Oh, as for my game...

Well, I got bored of the Soviet game after taking most of Europe (excepting the powers smart enough to stay neutral- Belgium, Switzerland, etc.) I also liberated all of Africa excepting the Congo.

So there I am, one year to go, can't really take the UK since I neglected building a navy altogether...

(Familiar story there.)

And bombing them is getting boring. So I moved onto my next game, which was Canada, Naval Superpower.

Counting on Ye Olde Monroe Doctrine, I poured everything into upgrading Canuck industry and then kicking out some serious naval tonnage.

Okay, basically four CVs and four BBs, including the basic super BB (equivalent to the Bismarck.)

However, once again WWII refused to develop properly. It's all going good as Germany declares war on Poland and the allies jump onto them. France actually holds out well into '41 before the flanking from the north causes them to collapse utterly. HOWEVER, due to Italy jumping in on the weakened southern flank, the Germans never actually conquer all of continental France, preventing the Vichy event from triggering. Which means that Algeria (South France at the time, essentially) et al stay with the Allies. Which would be really spiffy excepting the fact that the Italians conquered all that shit and drove the British halfway back to Alexandria.

(Guess losing those Canadian divisions really did hurt...)

Anywho, my warships enter the fray. I knew that I could go a little more BB heavy in the Atlantic/Med due to the fact that the Germans and Italians didn't go in for naval aviation, and that gave me the ability to provide fucktons of fire support along the North African coastline. So with the assistance of the Royal Navy, we pretty much flatten the Italian and German navies (I nailed like a half dozen Italian BBs and the fucking Admiral Scheer, BABY.)

Then the Brits slowly but surely drive the Italians back along Northern Africa, capturing Libya and liberating Tunisia and Algeria. Of course, in this scenario the Afrika Korps can't even think of transshipping the Med, so enhanced Canadian naval power was decisive in that regard.

However, that's when things really went sideways. First of all, Franco went ahead and tossed his hat into the ring with the Axis. However, the Japanese don't attack the US.

So Gibralter falls, and some German units are able to filter into Northern Africa, but it's so dicey that they get waxed pretty hard.

Oh yeah, and the Soviets declare war on us for some odd reason. Where they could actually hit us, I dunno, maybe running shit out of the Baltic or Vladivostok, but... yeah. I mean, anything coming out of the Black Sea is gonna get waxed by the huge preponderance of Allied naval power.

Okay, then it gets weirder. The Soviets declare war on the US, who join the Allies.

...what?

So the US comes in and starts invading Spain/Portugal regularly, and failing. They may take two or three provinces, then the Wermacht drops on them like a hammer and wipes them out. I try to help, but I'm running with a couple lousy divisions of Canadian Marines at that point, and however badass they may be, two divisions ain't a spitball in this fight.

Then the Soviets declare war on the Axis.

Oh, going to get interesting now.

Then the game crashes.

And the autosave got corrupted.

And I said...

Fuck this shit.

So maybe I'll pull it out later.
