Thanks to Lady Tevar, I'm now listening to the various opening themes of Bond movies on YouTube.

But which is the best one, that's the question...

So here are the first seven (I think that only 10 options are allowed in these polls, the rest will come later -- 7+7+8 is the most even split and the first part should be 7 movies long, since Diamonds Are Forever marks the end of an era).

The first opening themes are: Yeah, so Thunderball has two versions.

EDIT: some of the recordings were inferior, so I have now linked to new ones. No votes have been tallied yet as I write this.

I wasn't sure whether to include only the Tom Jones version or not... but now that Lady Tevar mentions it, it's probably better to have only the one. Since I'm editing anyway and no one has voted yet, I've removed the Bassey version.

The Tom Jones version of Thunderball is the Official Movie Opener.

I'll vote when I get home, can't listen at work.

The best James Bond theme is the theme to 1985's "A View To A Kill" performed by Duran Duran. There really isn't any other serious competition; although it was probably one of the worst Bond films featuring a positively necromantic Roger Moore, the theme song really captured the essence of music in the 1980s.

I'll add polls for the other Bond movies later on. Now you need to vote on these ones.

I enjoy the Dr. NO/From Russia With Love openers, but Thunderball is the best of the "song" ones.

I'm voting for Goldfinger myself, after much deliberation. I had thought to vote for You Only Live Twice or possibly Thunderball initially.

I'm afraid I have overestimated the number of votes this thread would generate. If things don't pick up, it may be pointless to go for parts 2 and 3. :/
