This isn't the '80s GI Joe.
But godDAMN did they do it justice!

This movie gets Nitram and Tev's 5-star rating of Awesome. Just the fight in Paris alone was worth the ticket. The cinematography was great, the CGI adn tech-toys were spiffy, and the acting matched the characters perfectly. The script was heavy on action, with a deft touch of humor, in-jokes, and shout-outs to the comics and cartoon. More to the comics, imho.

The Shout-Outs are everywhere: "Knowing is half the Battle" and "Real American Hero" are both dropped with far more grace than similar lines in Transformers. For those that missed it, the "Delta-6" suits are shout-outs to the short-lived GI JOE Sigma-6 cartoon. The Cobra soldiers are referred to as "neo-Vipers". And if you look closely and pay attention, you can pick out some of the background Joes by how they're dressed.

There's a great Cameo by a certain actor, and I'm going to have to go find out which Joe he was supposed to be. It was a "Is that.... OMG IT IS!" moment.

The Baroness gets several great lines, as a ruthless woman with a lot of class. The 'nice shoes' comment had a lot of people laughing. Actually, there were a lot of LOL moments for me, as well as a lot of 'wow! bitchin!' action shots.

As I said, Cinematography on this movie was high-budget and very well done, and the scene transitions between action were expertly timed and seamless. Some of the CGI was obvious, but others, especially interactions with things like the Cobra transports, were perfect. They went all-out for this movie and it shows.

However, the question is out there: Is this a GI JOE movie, or just another Summer Action Movie with Joe in the title.

The Answer? GOOOOOOOOOO JOE!

yeah...I forgot to post in this thread.

Saw it on opening day, and enjoyed every day minute of it.

It's modernized for the most part, but the way they worked in the fan service while doing the reboot was excellent.

The woodie I got when I saw the USS Flagg near the end was awesome.

Interesting take they have on the Commander also in this one. Can't wait for the second.

I found out that Brendan Frasier was playing "Sgt. Stone". There's other cast from The Mummy hidden in the movie as well.
