Ryan Reynolds suits up for 'Green Lantern'

If the casting mill rumors are true, Bradley Cooper and Jared Leto might become green with envy when they see the cover of the new Entertainment Weekly. The magazine has the first shot of buff actor Ryan Reynolds in costume as the Green Lantern, a role for which both Cooper and Leto were reportedly considered.

Based on the popular DC comic book, the movie stars 33-year-old Reynolds as Hal Jordan, a pilot who receives a mysterious ring from a dying alien. The bauble's glowing green energy gives him superpowers that include the ability to conjure up objects and also to fly - something that didn't come easy for Reynolds.

"The first time you do it," the actor told EW, "you're seriously considering an adult diaper."

As for how he got in fighting form to fill out Green Lantern's iconic costume, Reynolds, who reportedly injured his shoulder on set earlier this week, accepted the task in stride.

"It's all part of the job, so I guess I can't complain," he said. "You spend one day a week eating what you want and the other six days eating drywall and wood chips."

The sci-fl flick, which co-stars Blake Lively as Hal Jordan's love interest, is set to hit theaters June 17, 2011.
I don't know much about Ryan Reynolds apart from that he has been in a number of romantic movies and played Deadpool in the Wolverine origins story, so I can't really comment about this. Hopefully, it will be nifty.

Rent Ace of Spades, Ryan Reynolds impressed me in that movie.

I think you mean Smoking Aces frigid. He's also good in Foolproof, a Canadian heist film.

I severely disliked Smoking Aces, oddly.

Wait, you liked Shoot Em Up, a travesty of a film that traumatized my boys, and you didn't care for Smoking Aces (thanks for the save Cat)?

You ever considered that you ain't right in the head Hotfoot?

Now I need to find Smoking Aces to see what he's like.

Also, Martin Campbell is the director. He's the one with Edge of Darkness, Goldeneye and Casino Royale and also Legend of Zorro and Mask of Zorro. It's a rather mixed bag. :/

PS: I just realized that this should probably have gone in Movies, Art & Music. Oops.

I enjoyed both of them, but I went in expecting them both to be trash films and they were. Trash films, but entertaining trash films.

Shoot 'em Up was mindless enjoyment. Don't remember Smoking Aces...

As for RR as Hal Jordan? I think he'll do good, he's actually a pretty decent actor, and when it comes to comic movies, he usually does roles he likes (read: characters he enjoys from the comics...one of which is suppossedly Hal).

I dislike the costume...the mask is spot on, not sure about the outfit itself, it's suppossedly all computer generated.
