It's that big and has a touch AC (not regular AC, which is different) higher than ten? What, does it have an outrageous DEX score or something?

Are you sure? You said Academia almost hit with a 16 and that's was with a standard attack. Scorching Ray is ranged touch.

You both (and Comrade Tortoise) are correct - I was using it's normal AC versus a touch attack, instead of it's touch AC.
