WHOOOOOOO!
Two pages of merciless slaughter and laughing mayhem, the shoeless god of war is baccccckkkkk!
From the actions of Mr.Scruffy in the comic, I would like to contend that the cat is now Belkar's animal companion. Given that Belkar has actually cared for the little furry murder machine (he's a cat, cats are furry murder machines, accept it) this seems likely.
+10pts for the Bond bit on Jenny the Bard.
So anyone want to advance a guess on how Belkar will act now?
Also place your bets here on the upcoming fight. I'm calling it for Belkar.

Wait, Belkar didn't brutally murder everyone in the room? Wow... Yeah we're definetely seeing a bit of a new Belkar, on the outside.

Vampires don't breath... Neither do wraiths or death knights...So...what about the prophecy that Belkar would draw his last breath...EVER, that year?

I suspect that the Oracle's prediction means what it seems to imply, i.e. "the final end", otherwise it would indeed seem like a cop-out.
Of course, that does not mean he will be drawing his last breath ever NOW as opposed to in some other scene.
The main question is whether the bosses will have killed Haley by the time he arrives upstairs.

Mr. Scruffy is deadly... look at the scratches he left on that dwarf! I think Belkor's dagger to the head was a mercy-killing there.
And the best part about Jenny the Bard is the thrown daggers to the enemy while never breaking the kiss.

That was incredibly badass.
I have no doubt that the oracle's prediction means that Belkar is actually going to die, permanently, but I don't think it'll happen here. For one thing, I don't think the remaining thieves have the wherewithall to take him out. For another thing, if Belkar does go down, he needs to go down in a suitably epic manner.
I look forward to watching.

...Dammit. I just started reading OotS, so I'm only on 81 right now.
Give me a bit - I'll catch up. I'm digging this so far.

As posted in the OOTS forum in response to the thread "What is Best In Life?"
Page 612
Frame 3: ouch, maybe I spoke too soon. I guess I should amend that to "one of his hot female antagonists wearing something nice". Yah, that's more like it. ^^
Anyway, thus passes Old Seeing Pete. And an exit for the Cleric?
What is best in life? If you're not Belkar, then possibly the best thing is to be one of his female antagonists.

Jenny the bard/rogue/sorcerer. That's not the first time we've seen her.

She's in On the Origin of PCs, in Haley's back-story. The joke about her was that she was indecisive and kept taking inefficient levels in various classes.LadyTevar wrote:It isn't?!Rogue 9 wrote:Jenny the bard/rogue/sorcerer. That's not the first time we've seen her.
EDIT: at the time, she was a Bard 1 / Rogue 1 / Sorceress 1.
Haley asked her "Third level and you've already got three classes. So what kind of BAB are you sporting there now?" Jenny: "I don't want to talk about it".
In 610 she plays a bard song for a +2 bonus, so she must be at least Bard 3 / Rogue 1 / Sorcerer 1 at this point. I guess she wised up. :)

I endorse and approve of Belkar's lesson in moderation.
That is all.

613 seems to suggest that Belkar is very much sticking around.

It does. I'm still wondering what happened to the cleric, though.frigidmagi wrote:613 seems to suggest that Belkar is very much sticking around.
How long can Belkar last against both Bozzak and Crystal? With two rogue types flanking him, he can expect a lot of sneak attacks during this battle, and they're both high level.
Also, Crystal is Haley's Rival, so it doesn't make sense for her to be killed by Belkar, which implies that she'll survive this encounter...

This may not end well for those not of Belkar.....
and erm...I think Belkar has already taken out the entire Theive's guild....if not he's put a pretty hefty cut in their numbers

Yeah, he seems to have butchered a good two dozen thieves without much in the way of damage to show for it. I have every faith that he will utterly crush what is left.

No, he was hurt bad enough for the Cleric to hit him with a "Cure Serious Wounds" after Belkinor finished with Jenny.General Havoc wrote:Yeah, he seems to have butchered a good two dozen thieves without much in the way of damage to show for it. Yes, but my point is that thereafter he was restored to what appears to be nearly full health, while the dozen+ guildmembers he slew are still dead. Not to mention the ones Haley took out.
