#1 Welcome to the Age of Obama!
I am here to officially welcome you all to this glorious and wonderful age of peace and prosperity. I cannot tell you how excited I am sitting here watching Obama's speech. I am here to tell you that this will be a fantastic new age of wonder and greatness for the ENTIRE world. I wish everyone the best and I hope you all find something that means the world to you in his speech.

...I'm as much of a Obama supporter as anyone...
But seriously, chill. He is still a politician.

If there are those who are excited about what the future may have to bring, DS, who the hell are you to tell them to chill out? Let people have their goddamn moment.Dark Silver wrote:...I'm as much of a Obama supporter as anyone...

I dunno, Havoc, hyping Obama up may lead to some disappointment if (in some cases more likely when) the reality of the situation has him fall short of the lofty expectations that the more excited people have for him.

He's also a human being in one of the toughest jobs on Earth. He is going to fail at least once. He ain't God after all. Just a man.

True but I have high hopes for this administration, I have not had this good a feeling about the world since the early Clinton days

Why Clinton?
Actually, I sometimes ponder if we'd be better off if Bush Sr. had won in 1992, probably leading to Clinton or another Democrat in 1996 (no way in hell does Quayle get it) and hopefully keeping Bush Jr. out of the White House (four more years for him to fuck up in Texas) so that if we do get a Bush son in, it'd be the smart one.

Well, Bush Sr. ran the CIA for a while. That's a mite more impressive than running several oil companies into the ground as far as resumes go.General Havoc wrote:There's a smart one?
EDIT: Good point about Jeb though, Mayabird. I forgot about him.
However, didn't Bush Sr.'s father try to make deals with the Nazi party during WWII? Isn't that how the Bush family made most of its money?

Well yes, Prescott Bush was a general loathesome man, but then so was Joseph Kennedy (father of JFK, Robert, and Ted), an unrepentant Nazi sympathizer whom his children sent out of the country while JFK was running so that the press wouldn't find out about his ties to Goering or his activities while he was Ambassador to Britain during WWII.
I don't hold Prescott Bush's connections against either Bush Sr. or Bush Jr.
