That would work nicely, actually. Anyone else?Hotfoot wrote:We could always RP the trip, it won't be a short one, after all.

I slept thirteen hours yesterday-today. I must have been more tired than I thought, I will crank out the posts I owe now. *nodnod* Apologies, but Hotfoot is right. When the bed gets a hold of me, it is over.

This did come up: which spider did Teamhair kill for the Heartblood.
Well... there's only two spiders in the East: the Essence Spider that makes silk-steel, and the Burrowing spider which is a trap-door spider on steroids. Both are the side of tigers.
Teamhair wanted a large, deadly form to offset her two small sneaky ones. Nomad approved a Giant Spider... I guess he didn't think that one through.
Essence Spider : 4/5/4 phys, bite attack deals 5L + poison (4L an hour, toxicity of 3, -4 to treat)
But Liayna now has a source for raw SilkSteel to sell.

Not to mention a source of very useful glue.

(In reply to Tev's earlier question re: Exalted, which was something like "why is it that lunar/lunar couples and solar/solar couples seemed to have more drama than even solar/lunar pairs did?")
I don't know, honestly. I've only seen one Solar/Solar relationship, and to call it "tumultuous" would be an understatement; from what I read in "Dreams of the First Age," anyway.
Lunars, from what I read in the Lunars book, don't tend to settle down like they used to during the First Age as well, even with mates.

I think the excesses off high Virtue stats and the Great Curse might contribute.
Also, being god-kings in the First Age contributed.

Yeah, those would probably explain the whole Desus & Lillith thing (as in, why she didn't dismember him in front of all his friends for what he did to her), especially after the Great Curse took hold.SirNitram wrote:I think the excesses off high Virtue stats and the Great Curse might contribute.

But even in the stories of the "pre-great Curse," from what little I've read anyway, fell prey to the "lol god-king" problem as well, it didn't seem like there were any notable exceptions to this rule.

Wait a minute, can you point me to where I approved an Essence spider? I may have given you liberty to design an arachnid predator (whether the burrowing, web-trapping or hunter kind), but I don't remember giving you a free source of silk steel.LadyTevar wrote:Nomad approved a Giant Spider... EDIT: no matter. They are the true-breeding offspring of wood elementals and 'regular' giant spiders, and described as magical, so they fall outside the realm of basic Lunar shapeshifting (which includes only natural animals of size housecat to moose). Buy the Hearth-and-Flame Shell when you get Stamina 4 and Essence 4. Even this Knack shoudn't give access to most of the creature's magical powers, which includes the creation of silk steel. Guess I didn't need to think this through too hard, hey?
Upon reading this, I was so pissed off that for a moment I toyed with the idea of having the whole party annihilated by a rampaging behemoth or the Kukla and stop the game right here. I have other RL stuff to worry about now, and I thought that this gaming group was beyond the whole "gotcha, ST!" thing. I guess I was too naive. Even if Exalted gives the player freedom to "fill in the gaps" of description for stunting, that takes it to another level. I'm clearly disappointed.
A web-spitting or web-spinning giant spider is fine, but no Essence spider. Edit your posts accordingly.

Okay.. Did not expect that level of reaction. I fully expected it to go down, but more to the tune 'Nice try.. Try again with the Hearth And Flame' and 'Luna's Hidden Face', smart guys'. Did not mean to seem that cheesy. I'll leave that to the people who combo Laughing Wounds + Gem Of Adamant Skin for invunerability, and Glorious Solar Sabre and Second Melee Excellency for infinite attacks in a flurry.

And I have changed my post as of the top of page 18.
"That's what I'm wearing now," Teamhair replied. "Orduin gifted them to me. But I was joking about the Essence spider. It was merely a Spider the size of a tiger. One day I will Hunt an Essence or Wood Spider, though."

Edited my post to refer to "silk" instead of "silksteel."

I've been under a fuckload of stress and bad night's sleep lately, and logging in to find that kind of cheese going on did not improve my mood. I won't do anything rash while I'm still cooling off, but this had better not repeat itself.SirNitram wrote:Okay.. Did not expect that level of reaction.
Then ask in PM or OOC thread before implementing it ingame. I would have just chuckled and said, "nice try". I'm no longer so pissed off as to stop the game right here, but I won't stand for that kind of shit going on in my game. Once I've got the time, I'll think up some guidelines to avoid any further incident. It's a shame to come to that, though.I fully expected it to go down, but more to the tune 'Nice try.. Try again with the Hearth And Flame' and 'Luna's Hidden Face', smart guys'. Did not mean to seem that cheesy.
I don't know if I mentioned it, but I have absolutely no compunction about adapting or houseruling away flagrant munchkining abuse on the spot, or making up insane, world-shattering abilities abilities for my NPCs out of thin air (though if it came to that, the die would just be used to make noise behing the ST screen as musical background for a Bronze Faction SMA-wielding death squad). The rules are a mostly useful frame of reference to adhere to, but my decision as a ST is final. No rules-lawyering with me.I'll leave that to the people who combo Laughing Wounds + Gem Of Adamant Skin for invunerability, and Glorious Solar Sabre and Second Melee Excellency for infinite attacks in a flurry.
Note that I hate doing any of the above. Generally I want to trust my players to be reasonable and reach a consensus about house rules beforehand, but if I have to, I can be a real asshole. And the whole point of gaming - namely, fun - falls apart for both ST and player. So let us act mature in our immature bundle of fun, okay? I can't say I'll forget this little incident, but I'll try to pretend I do, and resume the game smoothly.

Okay, I'm back. Unless Academia Nut wants to add something (if he's still ingame), I'll proceed to the next step. I haven't finished reading the new Fair Folk book (might as well start over again, in a way) and must review the rules for Wyld-tainted lands, but I am of a mind to write an intermediary scenario involving the Fair Folk. If that's ok with you, that is.
(in the latter case, I'll expect Teamhair, as a Lunar, to know her way around Wyld tainted lands, despite her lack of Occult)

Okay... so there's my post. Sorry for the slowness.
