Can't, actually. Sure he can make himself invisible to scrying, but once a feline physically sees him the King of All Cats will know where he is.

Once the first cat saw him, there was no point in trying to hide from them.

Or maybe he was trying to keep her alive and disapproved of her sheer idiotic. When you live in a semi-theocracy that disapproves of something... YOU DON'T FUCKING FLAUNT DOING IT! Not if you want to stay in power or you know... Alive. Just as a general rule. And here I thought he was disapproving of her lifestyle. He was just disapproving of her OPENNESS... and maybe a bit jealous?
There's also the bit that she was doing in front of soldiers she needed to follow her and she needed those soldiers to take her seriously. Whether anyone likes it or not Armies are Conservative. That doesn't mean they're going to be mainstream conservative in their morals. Most definitely not, the mainstream in the main disapproves of things that troops take for granted, killing for example. But Armies will adopt their own codes and cling to them like a young mother to her only child and woe to the folks who ignore those codes. No matter what their rank. Even Kings can suffer from ignoring the codes of their armies.

You can get away being really unconventional-after the army accepts/loves/trusts/considers you lucky, not before.

Yeah... Ultima's really in over their heads with this one. CorpseKing is prolly one of the most dangerous meta around.
Interesting line about Guardian Force, and the Prophet's warning. I don't think you've mentioned the Prophet before. What background are you hiding here, hmm?

I don't know how closely you're following B4's game, but I'd not be surprised to find Chronos or the Prophet is the bastard from Ultima that tried to kill us all. In B4's storyline, he was trying to set up Armageddon just so he'd no longer be tormented seeing all the other possible timelines. So to save his sanity (ha!) he decided to destroy all timelines one by one, until there was nothing left but him.

Ah good.
Either way, you've a nice epic feel to this battle with the Blockader. I'm waiting to see how it ends!

Alright, I have a question about the bond Nalifan is under. How meta is that? He can't act directly, but can he hire mercenaries? Can he not try his best to save him in battle if he comes under attack? Can he express his extreme displeasure to Elvarra, knowing she is not bound and could take retribution for him?

He has to protect the king and the nation for a year and he can't take revenge. If, somehow, he gets through that year without Elvarra knowing, why yes he's no longer under the compulsion to stop her from doing anything.
Hiring mercenaries to circumvent the terms of the binding is acting to circumvent the binding. Acting to undermine the things he's bound to protect means he fries.
Note Sargard isn't covered by those terms. The king simply ordered that Nalifan not harm any of his bloodline and the original binding only binds Nal to obey the monarch.

Oh, wow, it's only a year? Nal's what, 500 or so?

If the binding only holds him for a year, how can it stop him from taking revenge after the year is up?

The binding holds him to serve for a year and then depart in peace and not to seek revenge.Rogue 9 wrote:If the binding only holds him for a year, how can it stop him from taking revenge after the year is up?

Superheroes: That fight is getting nastier. Ultima is going to have a fair sized hole in the ranks after this.
Transformers: The war becomes more believable the more you write about it. In the G-1 cartoon it was pretty black and white. You make it look like the Autobots were asking for a war and were just unlucky that they got Megatron instead of a robot Martin Luther King or something.

I'm going for that there were serious social problems, exacerbated by greed and selfishness from those that benefited from a status quo (exploitable underclass, demonization of said underclass, entrenched wealth and political power, a large chunk of the population comfortable, but not willing to rock the boat for fear of becoming another "empty"). It's everyone's bad luck that the only noncorrupt douchebag in a leadership position at the time the crisis came to a head was Megatron.

Still a douchebag, but a noncorrupt one.
It's interesting that Nalifan would beseech Hanali Celanil.

In G-1, it was black&white. GoodGuys/BadGuys. It's only in the 90s and later that someone asked the question "Why did the Cons go rebel". They based the answer in Pres. Hoover's treatment of the soldiers returning from WWI and on how a lot of the US treated returning Vietnam Vets.
So the MilBots became terrorists, and eventually overthrew the government that had given them the shaft. The problem was, they became as bad or worse than the government they overthrew in the process.
Now, Nalifan just got the Godly Seal of Approval. That will definitely give a certain devil-pact princeling a bit of a problem, now won't it.
Ultima? Hell, looks like they'll be needing a recruitment drive after this. Two elementals down, the tank about gone ... but the martial artist is kickin' ass.

In Planescape, the Rule of Three is that things tend to come in Threes.

No. That's the Rule Of Endings, which is remarked to be a Rule Of Three(Three things are in it). The Rule Of Three is that three is the number coming up. If you see two, there WILL be a third.LadyTevar wrote:The Rule of Three
