At this point, I think I'm gonna have to opt out of the next session. I have a lot of things piling up on my to-do list, and need to get them sorted.

I suppose this is the "dun dun DUNNNN" part where my character meets (and subsequently shoots at) his nemesis.

On the other hand now, we have two Force-users, and we have grenades. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan both lacked grenades, so we'll be fine.

When the GM laughs like that, with ellipses? No. Never, ever a good sign.

But it is usually a sign of impending mayhem.

When the GM laughs like that he is trying to remind us that we're in a public place in the upscale part of the station and thus free using of autofire and explosives will not endear us to the local authorities. Some actual thought will be required to not turn this into a blood bath. Or at least if it happens make it clear that we were merely upstanding citizens defending ourselves rather than the bunch of heavily armed and well funded vagrants looking for trouble that we really are.

My character will ask this guy for spare creds, in that case. Have to keep up appearances, you know.

Character story edited into character sheet. I'm planning this character's progression now, hoping to give full credit to his Cheddar Monk nature while still giving him the fun shooty feats that make him fun as a gunner.

You know, I was joking when I said that, but occasionally you just don't think and things spiral out of control faster than one really expects them too. A lesson has been learned.

Also, the whole shoot the ceiling thing to get attention doesn't work with us.

I apologise for starting that whole "Lol I order a drink when we should be running away" thing.

seriously imagine writing a car chase where the crooks pull in to a McDonalds drive-thru to order a happy meal or something

that's like, what we did

Seriously though, I blame it on it being a whole week since the last adventure and forgetting the immediacy of our problems. It was a week for us, but in-game only a few minutes passed. That kind of thing can lead to not appreciating the situation we're in.

EDIT: hey friendly game master, i was wondering if my carbine with the targeting scope and Kel's siang-lance were returned to us

I'm glad I wasn't carrying the Siang Lance or the Shield Gauntlet - all Kel took with him was a Heavy Blaster. I can't say anything about a targeting scope though.

Hey guys,

I wanted to apologize personally for some of my comments during the game. Your characters may not be as reliable as I may like, but they are certainly trust worthy. ^_~

Overall, aside from the shenanigans that ensued I thought the session ended on a good note. If only Rhoenix had rolled much lower on his perception rolled in the end, it would have been glorious. On a different note, I would like to ask if anyone has any idea as of this point as to what path they are taking with their characters. I ask because I have been giving a lot of thought as to what I will be doing with Erik but I am trying not to replicate any feats unnecessarily.

Here is my current Erik Zaar guideline.
3. Noble 3, Heavy Weapon Proficiency Feat and Wealth Talent
4. Scout 1, +1 to intelligence and charisma, mechanics skill, evasion talent
5. Noble 4, Friends in Low Places feat
6. Noble 5, Double Agent talent
7. Noble 6, Tech Specialist feat, Starship Designer feat
8. Noble 7, Follower talent, +1 to constitution and charisma

So far, thanks to the whole destiny thing, I've been thinking larger and larger scale for my character. At first, it was simply Vengeance - busting a cap in Jackass for killing my character's teacher. It quickly became Redemption, once Hotfoot pointed out that Vengeance usually led to the Dark side.

Redemption was cool, but I wanted something more. So, I think I now have something in mind for Kel that's quite suitably epic in scale.

EDIT: Even if Kel doesn't end up keeping it, I want to successfully shipjack the captain of an ISD (or even an SSD) at least once, and to bug the captains' clothing so that Kel can hear said captain explaining to his superiors how he got shipjacked.

EDIT 2: I edited my main character sheet to edit the prelude story a bit better. It happens.

A proposed rules edit I'm planning on adding to the game:

Proton Torpedoes receive a -20 to hit targets below colossal size
Proton Torpedo damage increases to 11d10x3
Proton Torpedo range decreases to the same range as Ion Cannons (base 2)
Proton Torpedos no longer do Area Damage

This is to represent Proton Torpedoes being designated capital ship killers and to differentiate them from Concussion Missiles, which are meant to kill starfighters.

This has been edited to further make the difference matter.

I'm not sure if this proposal is necessary. -20 to hit is a steep penalty that I don't think is justified, nor scrapping the area damage (which might be the reason why we don't see them used in dogfights, because at dogfighting range a torpedo blast might destroy the firer as well as the target), and decreasing the range also doesn't make much sense either (if they're meant to be capship killers why would you want to get in close to them to launch your missiles?).

Hell, look at the missile that Slave 1 shoots in AOTC at Obi-wan's fighter - that is something that you could argue is especially well-suited to anti-fighter work because of its acceleration and maneouverability, but it has a huge blast, which might be consistent with a proton torpedo.

The -20 to hit is to bring it in line with other anti-capital ship weapons. Given that the damage is now roughly comparable to a turbolaser shot.

The fact is that in the system as it stands, Proton Torpedoes are extremely broken. They make concussion missiles useless (1 slot vs. 2, 5, or 20), can carry up to 16 shots just by paying additional money, and can wipe out fighters left and right.

Concussion Missiles, meanwhile, retain their normal to-hit bonuses, damage, and area effect. This makes them efficient fighter killers with additional use against things below the corvette scale. Proton torpedoes, meanwhile, have classically been used as ways to bring down capital ships, and the primary method that the Rebellion has used to even the odds against the vastly superior capital ships of the Empire.

The shorter range means that bombers need to get relatively close to the ships they must attack, requiring proper fighter cover and tactics. It also prevents designs of capital ships which forgo Turbolasers entirely for Proton Torpedoes. The idea is to make the proton torpedo a different weapon, as opposed to the ultimate anti-fighter missile, which it currently is, and without making it replace turbolasers completely.

If you want anti-fighter missiles instead of capital-ship killers, you can easily swap out the proton torpedo tubes on most designs for a light concussion missile launcher, since most designs buy two torpedo tubes instead of just one.

I favor the changes for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it differentiates the proton torpedo from the concussion missile by giving it a unique role (large ship killing). Currently, the proton torpedo outshines the concussion missile in all respects. The game does not need 1x awesome anti-fighter weapon and one mediocre one.

Secondly, it increases the value of fighters and the people that fly them. The change is a significant benefit to fighter pilots as without the change, a fighter even a bomber cannot really threaten anything larger than a corvette. The torpedo AOE effect was removed, because otherwise they would be doing 90 damage reliably to any fighter in its area of effect whose pilot did not have evasion of some kind. Its range was reduced to not overshadow turbolasers and allow for some sound tactics to be thrown in.

Overall, I feel that the change is a positive one shifting the balance more towards fighters than it exists now. Currently, a frigate does not need to fear a fighter swarm. After the change, the frigate or cruiser will have to respect them.

I throw in a vote in favor of the rules, because of the examples shown in the books and movies. I would be happy with the proton being capship-killers, and concussion be parasite-killers.

EDIT: Character sheet updated with hitting clvl 3, and I respec'ed my feats. Point Blank Shot was replaced with Skill Focus: UtF, and I picked up Weapon Proficiency: Heavy as my 3rd character level feat.

And some minor rules changes that will likely not effect anyone, but are done for my own sanity:

Corvettes are reduced to half their starting cargo capacity and have a cost multiplier of x25 for the purposes of starship construction.

Hangar Bays now can hold 12 Gargantuan ships for each purchase, regardless of the size of the ship. This equates to 18 Huge or 3 Colossal ships in comparison (1 Colossal = 4 Gargantuan = 6 Huge).

Now here is a change I know will affect one of you so far:

Wealth Talent, instead of giving 5,000 credits per character level at each level, will instead be based on time. When you go withdraw funds from your accounts, you can only withdraw funds equal to 200 x Character Level x Number of weeks^2 since your last withdrawal, up to a maximum of five weeks. Every week after 5 that you wait, the amount continues to increase, but at the linear rate of 1,000 credits per CL per week.

This is done largely because I hate feats and talents that give bonuses that can disappear or be completely taken away, and is basically the same reasoning I used to have recycling force points. It should basically give the same about of money over a given period of time, but it's also useful in level 20 games when the player is no longer gaining levels.

I'm thinking about modifying medical bays, but that will have to wait until I have a better solution than the one in the book.
