Egads, just talking about this makes me want to dig up my old story game about the Lyran LIC Molehunter who switches to the anti-Katherine side during the Civil War. Because he was attached to the Fox teams for a couple of years, the group he hooks on with puts him to riding herd on this crazy old Fox team colonel and then puts them out to do their covert insurgency.

The members of his team for this 'covert' insurgency:

Crazy Fox team colonel with one blatantly metal arm.
Shiny-new Fox team school grad complete with chiseled physique, shaved head, and moto tattoos.
Jade Falcon elemental bondsman taken at Coventry.

Yeah, they could blend in about as well as Dawkins at Sunday Mass.

If the game hadn't aborted, hilarious hijinks surely would've ensued.

First Caballeros book, the Ghost Regiment veterans of the Clan War had a single gold-plated bullet on a necklace. You weren't shit if you hadn't fought on the Clan front, which is why they had a certain respect for the Caballeros right from the start, because of the fighting on Geronimo.

Hey I'd take a timeout from stabbing wannabe samurai and knights to kill a clanner. Who wouldn't?

I dunno, Goliath Scorpion is a pretty cool clan.

Of course they're like probably going to go extinct and they were losing too many members to vision questions from their totem animal's venom, but they have that whole seeker thing going on.

I've always been a fan of the Snow Ravens, personally.

That's right, the Hungry Ghosts, Lainy's bad boys and girls. Love that crack about the colonel's Timber Wolf when the rookie is doubting how hard the Caballeros were. "Did you think the Smoke Jaguars just up and gave that ride as a gift to the gaijin?"

Yeah, the only problem with that is you come to the whole "you can do everything with a bayonet but sit on it" issue, only in this case it's "You can glass the planet, but taking it is a whole 'nother matter."

And if Frigid was a clanner, he'd be all Cloud Cobra. Betcha.

Me, I'm a Jade Falcon kinda guy, because the first Battletech fiction I got my hands on was Thurston's 'Legend of the Jade Phoenix' series. Yeah, I'm simple like that.

Not to mention the actual story of how he acquired it... he fucking picked it up with his Atlas and pointblank fried the cockpit.

1: I really don't like snakes. I mean really. Even the idea of playing with a Naga character in Shadowrun gives me the willies and that's a pretend snake (or worse CT pretending to be a snake, I promise you that will be creeeepppy).

2: These fuckers invented the Eugenics bits that make me happy to stab Clanners. I am not know for being cool about Caste systems that brazenly cover up slavery with euphemisms.

3: They're known for their airforce, does that really sound like the proper place for a decent Marine?

If I was a Clanner I would end up in the Dark Caste fore to long.

Somewhat off-topic, but the notion of Ben rping a snake does make the bottom of my feet tingle with noxious disquiet.

Think he said that because the Cobras are the Token Religious Clan, founded by a SLDF chaplain and all.

I command thee thread, rise! RISE!

Okay, so yeah, it's been awhile since this game has come out, but they FINALLY have added Community Warfare. For now. At the moment, I have created a new Mercenary Unit (Named Unbroken in honor of the Earthdawn Campaign, FASA linkage ho), and signed a 7 day contract with the FRR. Yes, because. That said, nothing will stop us from going Draconis Combine or what have you as we go. I'm testing the waters here before diving headfirst back into Elite: Dangerous, which just had the powerplay update release today for the general public.

Other things they've done, by the way, includes in-game voice communication. FINALLY.

That said I did have to wrangle the game pretty hard to get it working again, but there's a repair tool that should fix most problems built into the launcher now, so...there's that.

I'm still trying to get the faction warfare up and running, it doesn't seem like a terribly popular option at the moment, as it may still be in beta. The regular matchmaking seems to work more or less at the moment, however.

So after a little arm twisting on Hotfoot's part I reinstalled MWO and have been running out a merc contract with the Combine. Could definitely use a competent lance.
