#1 Anime

Post by Bratty »

B4UTrust and I got into a keen convo about anime. When searching these forums, I was a bit disturbed to see that even though we have a fine collection of freaks and geeks, there are no anime threads. IS THERE NO JUSTICE???? :)

Call out if you like anime and what turns you on (in regards to anime, get your mind out of the gutter, you hosers !).

For me, My favorites are Rounin Kenshin and Van Dread. I also liked Record of Lodoss Wars, Trigun, and Slayers.

I would say my hubby's, but ~grins~ he is a grown boy.

Thread moved in accordence to new policy. Ladies and Gents this forum is now open for the discussion of anime as well has Comics and Fantasy. Enjoy.

It's okay Bratty, it's Walpie. You have to remember he's a canuck. They still live in Igloos and have to hibernate in the winter with the polarbear and get their 'net access by vibrating the ice crystals as a certain frequency, a skill I might add that is rather impressive to behold though it won't get you faster then 14.4kbps.

So he can be forgiven for his heretical stupidity in this matter...to a degree. Any more outbursts Walper and we'll be forcing you to watch a 24 hour marathon of DBZ and Pokemon....the english dubbed versions.

And on subject again:
Kenshin
Eva
Trigun
Naruto
Full Metal Alchemist
D.N. Angel

To many to list really. There's not a lot of anime I've seen that I don't like. .. I'm too much of a fanboy :(

Cruel and unusual punishment, dear. Well as long as it isn't Sailor Moon. By the end, we could dress him in short skirts and pigtails and have him skipping about the room in airhead fashion.

You know, I bought Robert a Full Metal Alchemist fanzine/graphic novel, whatever the hell you call them. My kids' school had them through the book order :P

Have you ever heard of "Read or Die"?

I hate anime. I fine it to be poorly drawn, gaudy, and without taste. But that's just me.

I am offended. Completely offended. So offended that I will make you suffer.

~smirks~ that's okay, deary. I hate computers. My dad's an analyst. My ex husband was a technition and then went on to telecommunications and became a switch engineer. About 75% of my friend base are computer geeks, male and female, and I can't stand computers. They bore me to tears.

Everyone has their thang.

Hellsing. Found the first DVD at Walmart for $7.50. Is that awesome or what? :D

FMA. I just wish the DVDs were cheaper because it shows way too late for me... :/

Aside from that, not a whole lot. I've seen some of that giant robot thing-- Big O, yeah-- but wasn't too impressed.

Though I do like the occasional hentai... but we won't go into those here, will we? :P

Hrm. I can't say I dislike anime, really, but I do dislike the fact that everyone seems to jizz over it and think it's special because it's made in Japan and everyone has pointy noses!1!!!11oneshiftoneeleven!

Mark me down for Big O and Cowboy Bebop, but kill the people who make such half-arsed subs.

I like Miyazaki's work and Ninja Scroll and that's about it. I'm not against anime, but most of what I have seen is crap.

Nope... but from what i hear around at Anime club.. cosplay is gonna be our halloween party*miserable expression* which means i have to figure out a costume that's anime. Am thinking maybe a chobit or a cat girl... But if anyone has any suggestions, i'm open to hearing them. Mind you though, it has to be something fairly simple, i only have like... 15 (less than) days to work on the costume...

Then Con is in the spring...Or so i've been told*puzzles and goes hunting costume ideas*

Oh! And i thought of two more.
Spirited Away(the music is wonderful)
Kiki's Delivery Service(a talking Kitty, what's more fun?)
(how in the world did i forget them rofg)

You know, if I was going to Cosplay (something I have never done, but always wanted to do), I would be Ivy from Soul Calibur :P

I DIG that game and char.

As far as suggestions, take your fav char that you can identify with and be creative :)

Can you sew?

By Hand Yes. By Machine, No. That's why it has to be something i can get done in 15 days worth of "free" time.

And...I think am gonna go as the generic catgirl... I've got a pretty fair idea on how to get away with it. That and i can definetly get a gatgirl costume put together in the time alloted. AND i can incoperate some of my "older" costume pieces into it if i wanna.

Folks there is no damn need to crash a thread just cause you decided you don't like the subject. Let's not make people put on their mod hats okay?

Mostly a fan of the 80s era anime I used to watch as a kid (Astro Boy, Robotech etc). It's only recently that I've gotten to see any of the newer stuff (on account of having a proper job (to pay for rental, DVDs etc) and supreme control over the TV remote (most of my family simply cannot understand why a full-grown woman would want to watch 'cartoons' when there is a perfectly good Inspector Morse rerun on TV). I quite like the look of Noir and may some day get around to actually watching it.
