Martin has been lost to the game. There is much screaming and splurching, as he fights for your lives.

BTW: Hotfoot? No females? No Tevar?

You've been killed at least twice in my games, Havoc. Tev, only one death chalked up for you to date.

Look at the bright side, you haven't died in their games nearly as often as you died in mine. You, by the way, have managed to fail spectacularly as a sniper, a heavy weapons guy and a support soldier. I have hopes that you may survive as an assault soldier. I've given you all the best armor and weapons I can. However if you keep insisting on failing to put the rounds into the xenos I can't help you. Point blank range, man! 97% to hit with 70% critical. And you missed!

Now I have to get this game and see how I can get Havoc killed.

You could have done this eons ago, you know. Back when XCOM was originally released? In fact you could have done it in three different iterations of the game.

Well, so far Havoc has died in mine by getting surprise alien buttsex and becoming pregnant with the love baby. The apparent rapture of this event resulted in his unfortunate demise, though a turn later the corpse-womb rose to defend its unborn young by attacking me. It was put down. He also died due to an overdose of plasma to the face and in true Hornet fashion by getting blown up by his own teammate while they were mind controlled. Crit rocket to the chest.

Tev got killed.. She got surprised by a Sectoid Commander around a corner when I was waiting for a turn to use her medikit. Colonel Teamhair, Support Class, KIA during operations on Alien Warship of extremely large size. Full honors.

I seriously doubt any game released to the general public in the US has alien buttsex leave alone characters dying from it.

Is this a tacit admission that your computer sucks too badly to play the new XCOM?

Chryssalids are the reason the phrase "alien wing-wang" came into such widespread circulation.

There's nothing tacit about it. I just plain hate you lot for being able to play the new XCOM while I'm not.

Well, you could just follow your own advice and get the original XCOM: UFO Defense from Steam. Terror From the Deep is much like it, except... more difficult due to the larger and more varied maps. XCOM: Apocalypse I was completely unimpressed with, and I've never played XCOm: Interceptor.

I HAVE the original XCOM. In fact I have Apocalypse, too, and other than me not particularly liking the biotech angle it's by far the least visuably unimpressive of the original trilogy. (In fact I'm reasonably certain I've got TftD somewhere, too). The problem is what they look like like on a modern display (basic VGA really doesn't translate well to 19", leave alone widescreen).

I also don't particularly like my game screen being like 6 inches across?

Drop your screen resolution then?

You do realize that dropping the screen resolution is essentially the same thing as playing them fullscreen and accepting the reduction in screen resolution that results in, right?

No. Because it is not.
Batman wrote:...and accepting the reduction in screen resolution that results in, right?
Ok, you're complaining because your PC can handle the older XCOM, but requires a small workaround to work, and you're complaining that it can't handle the new XCOM game. Pick one complaint as more important, deal with it, and go from there.

Unless, of course, you want the entire world to know that the World's Greatest Detective can't handle the very idea of a Chryssalid, and would roll up like a cheap rug and cry at the thought of alien invaders. That is a valid third option here.

You know, I find it ultimately amusing either I'm not on any of the teams in the various games......

or I have yet to die if I am.

Though now it seems I have to get the game and join in on the fun also.....

I'm a reasonably clever dude.

(Clever enough to not get promoted, unlike some people present.)

But it would've been amazingly prescient of me to buy a game years ago and kill a guy that I wasn't due to meet until a few months ago.

Of course I could've gotten Allen killed and he's right that there has been a stunning lack of grisly demise for his avatars in this game, an oversight I shall have to correct soon.

It's called 'time travel'. If you're oh so clever how come you never figured out a way to do it retrospectively?
