"Those Motherfuckers." In the Rihannsu novels, which aren't canon but very popular with the fans and Star Trek Online is liberally plundering for plot goodies, first contact between Vulcans and another species happens when some Orion slavers find Vulcan. They basically abduct everyone sent to greet them, missing the aged Surak only because he was delayed by a traffic accident. They then learned bringing super strong telepaths with an extensive martial arts tradition onto your ships as slaves can be a very bad idea.frigidmagi wrote:But... How do they refer to the Andorians and other species who have been in space much longer than humanity?

So that's how we're going to do it. Steal the credit from the Klingons. They're a bunch of dumb savages they couldn't possibly think of towing the ship through warp. Gotcha.Comrade Tortoise wrote:Point of information Frigid. The plan to power the tender and tow it into warp is, in point of fact, mostly mine and Ereshal's. Even if somebody else comes up with an idea, the Vulcans telepathically implanted it.

So, is anyone interested in adding another another wayward ship to the ragtag fleet you guys got going in this here game?
See i was thinking of having a Klingon Battlecruiser commanded by a Romulan Captain and with a substantially Romulan crew. It's strength is a bolted on missile system with a mean alpha strike that was salvaged from goodness knows where. It's weakness is that a penetrating hit on said missile system may blow the magazine and gut the ship. Also it takes forever to reload because it has to be done by hand. Looks like the only real option Klingon BC wise is the Vor'cha, there's also the K'tinga but, uh, don't like those at all. i thought there was an improved Vor'cha from the novels, the Qang class, but turns out it's actually a CA not a BC, which is laaames. Ah well, make it one of the last Vor'chas to leave the Klingon naval yards and call it a day.

Why hello there Lys. To answer your question, there's always room for one more. I have enough Borg to go around.
As to the proposal, I don't think anyone is going to object to the addition of more Klingon battlecruisers (Cyncat may become jealous if it's shinier than his, but since both Cyncat and Klingons in general are cuddly, demure flower arrangers with no tendencies towards violence, I don't foresee a problem). I obviously can't rule on the concept until I see a more complete character, but I do have a couple of suggestions.
One is that I prefer ships from in-canon sources whenever possible, just so that I actually can visualize what the ship is and is not, and what I can do to it with or without it being blown into steam. I won't say no to the Qang class if you want one, but I will need a fairly detailed explanation of just what the Qang is, and how it compares to other ships like the Vor'cha, the D-7, or the Negh'var.
Now in terms of what systems you bolt, weld, or duct tape to the ship, I'm considerably less canon-obsessed. Anything that makes a certain degree of logical sense is perfectly fine by me. That said, I'm not wild about ship weaknesses that are binary "blow-up-the-ship-or-don't" kinds of things. I won't say no to it, as it depends on how hard it is to set off and how well the weakness is integrated into the overall ship. But I'd want to see more before I decide if such a thing is acceptable in this case.
As to everyone else, if you've all hammered out the substantial issues that needed hammering in the discussion, I will advance us through to whenever the next event of note is, be it you fixing the tender to working condition, the Borg arriving, or something... else.

Seems i edited my post too late! Anyway, turns out that the Qang's not an improved Vor'cha, it's a heavy cruiser rather than a battlecruiser and only happens to largely look like a Vor'cha. Which is unfortunate because i want a BC not a CA. So! i'll just make it one of the last Vor'chas to leave the yards, meaning it would have the incremental improvements that all such ships usually get. We shall call it... the Vor'cha Flight III! Hold your applause, don't thank me for my creativity, i owe this one to the US Navy.

With respect to Cynicat's captain and crew, i'm frankly more worried about what they will think of the fact that my ship's former Captain is meant to be rather famous on account of the war, and is also very dead on account of the current Captain. >_>
Oh, and by the way, "demure flower arrangers" doesn't actually sound harmless to anyone who is has watched Samurai Champloo or is otherwise familiar with what Samurai did in their spare time.
Anyhow, i suppose now i must come up with a full write-up and all that. This may take a while. <_<

As for the Qang class (which I totally looked up) how Star Trek classifies it and how Havoc classifies it are two different things. Star Trek throws around the terms cruiser and battle cruiser very casually. It's actual capabilities are what's important.

So i was thinking that i wanted a crystal... man... thing bolted on to my bridge's communications console and serving as my communication's officer. Because a sexy black woman in a miniskirt has, apparently, already been done (time traveling mind worms stealin' my ideas!). Are there any crystaline races in Star Trek? Something like the Chenjesu form one of the best games ever.

The only relevant race that I can think of are the Tholians, who are a few very important things that may make things difficult. First, they've got a very...strange mindset, possibly difficult to write. And two, their living environments are radically different from human-normal, requiring full-on environmental hardsuits to coexist. If you want to roll with that, fine, just be aware. :)

Tev, you're aware that in the Marines, you would have done the equivalent of jumping up and pissing on the table in front of your new boyfriend's parents? Which considering what the Captain just did for you is making him reconsider the trust he displayed in you.
Like I said everyone, we will get a chance in game to hash this out, but having this right now? Is like stopping in the middle of stealing the Hope Diamond to argue about which country we should flee to. It's a good question, but it ain't the time. Finish the mission, then when we have the After Action Meeting, then you stick knives in me.

Folks with Starfleet vessels, I'd like to manufacture a lieutenant and ensign from one of your ships for a brief and potentially amusing vignette. Who wouldn't mind?

You could compromise and let him vaporize the ship after your crew bails to a shinier one.
Also while i'm here: my knowledge of Klingon is non-existent and i would like to keep it that way. Does anybody have any suggestions for ship names? Something that could have started as the name for a Bird of Prey that was so badass a bigger, meaner ship was named after it.
