Spiegel Piece

An article about how the French perceive WWI and its effect on their outlook. It's an interesting piece and long (thus the lack of quotes).
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

It is a long article but damn if it is a good one. It's really interesting to me as the WWI has no real impact on the American psyche, due to us only joining the war in 1917 and WWII being massively more important to us.

Yeah, we had nothing tangible at stake in WWI. It was all Over There and we really had to get a lot of pushes to get involved. Also we just didn't sustain the casualties anywhere near on the scale of any of the European (and Commonwealth) nations involved.
