#1 WEREWOLF: When will you Rage
Yes, I'm going to try running this again, now that I've learned not to trust books except for information. Mistakes were made, and they were all mine, but I'd like to see how many would be interested in either re-running your same characters, or starting new ones.
The setting, once again, will be Rage Across Appalachia. The themes of Rage Across Appalachia were rather hidden in the way the story railroads the players, and in the way I "faithfully" followed the story like a dummy.
Kentucky Moonshine should have taken longer, got the players to understand how wary Appalachia is of modern ways and outsiders, and how even the neighbors next door could be a danger. The theft of the Mammoth Bone was a McGuffin that could have waited and the mystery of whodunnit stretched out.
Tennessee Waltz, expanded, shows the stress between keeping the old ways alive and modernization. There should have been more social/political challenges in there, between the Pack helping you, the other residents of Knoxville, etc.
Carolina Moon was the simplest: Meet the Ghost, give her the Mammoth Bone like she wants, and then accept when she charges you to become the new Keeper. That was the worst railroad -- the scene literally gives you no other way to get the Mammoth Bone without being haunted and cursed by a vengeful Wraith. It demands that she be allowed to release herself from the oath she made, and thus break one of her Fetters.
I really could have done that MUCH better. :(
So, if you trust me again, I want to run my own creation: "Wyld & Wonderful", set in West Virginia. It will use Werewolf 20th Anniversary Rules, based on brain-storming Nitram and I have been doing for a couple years now, and hopefully it'll be fun for everyone. This will be text-based, as I'm not able to stay up late enough for live-gaming (and my headset broke).
So, if you're interested, let out a howl. If you want your old character back, I have them stored. Cyncat, I still remember what we were going to do with your character and his Klaive as well

You know, I've definitely been thinking of this game again, and about Werewolf in general. I think Sees-Faces should continue to pursue his dream of trying as many different chicken dishes as possible.

All right, I'll dig up Sophie's character sheet, if she's still applicable.

I'm not one to break up the band, so if everyone else is jumping back in I will too. There is, however, something I have to get in front of. I'm not going to be taking much shit from the locals, unlike last game, and I will stab them to get my point across. If this is going to be an issue, tell me now and I can so I don't join and thus spare us a few rounds of "he thinks he can stab my pretties I'll fix his wagon" or "he's fucking up my game the son-of-a-bitch" and all the pain and frustration that goes with it. That's not to say I expect to be immune to the consequences of my actions, the last game just eroded my tolerance for "lets fuck with the outsider" to nothing and I'm sure it showed. Sucking it up wasn't fun and it didn't make me fun either. So stabbing instead.
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

The last one was PBP, so it's likely this one will be as well.Josh wrote:Skype or PBP?
So far Josh, we have an Ahroun homid Shadowlord (CynCat), a Philodox metis Glasswalker (Havoc), and a Theurge lupus Stargazer (me). If you want to jump in, I'm sure our pack could make room.

Let me ponder on a Galliard of some sort.

Cyncat, just remember the consequences of not baring throat to an Elder. You are still a lower rank, so talking back too much will get you in trouble. If you're good with that, I'm good with it. Since you found The Bone, all of the returning players got a bump in local recognition, so you're not going to be as much an outsider anymore.Cynical Cat wrote:I'm not one to break up the band, so if everyone else is jumping back in I will too. Josh, a Galliard would work great :) Nitram is playing a Homid Ragabash Uktena, so all we need is a Galliard to have a "full pack". Just pick your Tribe & Breed.
The local wolves are Bonegnawers, Fianna, SilverFangs, Children of Gaia, and Get of Fenris. Interestingly, most Get are from Memonite, Amish, or other "Pennsylvania Duesch" families. This makes them at odds with the typical skinhead anti-authority neo-facistic stereotype, but never doubt them in a fight.
Glasswalkers are not that interested, no big cities in WV although there are 2 large Universities.
Furies and Striders are around, but again, they are newcomers and not established families.
While there are Uktena kinfolk, there are no Reservations or large camps of Uktena or Wendigo in West Virginia, mainly because those left were the ones who hid from the Trail of Tears roundup. Stil, occassionally a "Black Irish" family will birth a Uktena cub, who may never even have known s/he was Native American.

Now, since Josh had to ask, let me restate this for the record:
This will be PBP, as I'm not able to stay up late enough for live-gaming (and my headset broke). It's the easiest on me, as GM, and I know several of you are already in two or three Skype games so this is a change of pace.

I gotta be honest, Cyncat, looking back, I think I was the one screwing up there. Sophie was getting ridiculously sick of the whole "let's fuck with the newcomers" thing, and I wasn't always bearing in mind that she is a werewolf, and thus at best, has a very poor reaction to frustration. Obviously Alexander's fuse is going to be shorter than Sophie's (assuming their respective rage scores apply). But still.Cynical Cat wrote:I'm not one to break up the band, so if everyone else is jumping back in I will too. There is, however, something I have to get in front of. Oh you never know... there might just be a Glasswalker or two around somewhere. You never really know where you're gonna run into one of them. :)LadyTevar wrote:Glasswalkers are not that interested, no big cities in WV although there are 2 large Universities.

For my part, I'm going to be playing Sees-Faces-In-Stars a little differently than before. He's older now, more sure of himself, and has a much shorter fuse for bullshit.
He's also learned just how funny it can be to wake up a spirit who inhabits someone's car.

Provisionally, I'm thinking something in the flavor of a Bone Gnawer Galliard.
Gonna reread the tribe book and get back to y'all on that.

Unsurprisingly, a heavily armed society of rage driven warrior badasses have this thing called "dueling" which can come into effect in such conflicts. Stormwalker is exactly the kind of werewolf who might cause his elders to think twice when push comes to shove. I'm good with the consequences, even if they're fatal to me.LadyTevar wrote:Cyncat, just remember the consequences of not baring throat to an Elder. So going through the 20th edition and there are some new Gifts for everyone to play with. Including a Metis one where Havoc can literally hate a guy to death at range. Also, the Get of Fenris still have the testorone poisoning thing turned up to 12. Compared to them and their "if he isn't Get and hasn't beaten the shit out of me in personal combat to prove he's top dog then he's not my elder" Stormwalker is downright reasonable. At least there's other ways to get his respect.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Since I am updating to Werewolf 20th, I will ask that EVERYONE remake their Character, as a Rank Two, with 20extra Bonus Points to spend as per CharGen. Use wisely, don't change too much on your base Character (like buying off Flaws) without notifying me.

#24 Re: WEREWOLF: When will you Rage
Mostly it's changes in Gifts, Backgrounds, Merits/Flaws, Rites, etc. The Basic Stats have not changed: 3/5/7 for Attributes, 5/9/13 for Abilities, 5 Backgrounds, 3 Starting Gifts, Rage, Willpower, and Renown by Tribe/Auspice/Breed.Josh wrote:Okay, I don't have Anniversary Edition so what sort of changes in character generation does it have over Revised?
Specialities have Changed: you now must have 4dots in a base Ability, and all they do is turn a 10 into two successes. No rerolling, just automatic success.
There's new Abilites, like Larceny (all the nice tools and techniques of a rogue), Academics (Humanities Major), Computers is software, Technology is hardware. Hobby, Profession, and Expert Knowledge are catchall terms for whatever another Attribute doesn't cover.
New Backgrounds: Fate is now a Background, not a Merit/Flaw. Spirit Heritage is a direct ancestoral tie to a spirit family or type, which means they either fear or respect you. There is no longer a Spirit Ally other than a Merit.
Some of the new Gifts are just SICK: City Running, spend a Rage and get your full movement ala Parkour. It's one of your choices for starting gifts too. Metis have a Rank Two "Gift" that's a permanent enhancement to their Form Mastery.
My changes to spending Bonus Points:
New Gifts: 5pts for Rank 1, 7pts for Rank Two
Attributes: 5pts, only one Trait may be maxed to Five in each section.
Abilities: 2pts, specialities 1pt per dot.
Gnosis: 2pts per each new dot.
Backgrounds: 1pt. Fetishes will be chosen by the GM, and if you have a rank 5 fetish there should be a DAMN good story behind it. (Ask Cyncat about the drawbacks to his Klaive)
Rage and Willpower: 1pt. Dont' try to MaxOut your Will or Rage. I will laugh at you and make you cut it down to your Breed/Tribe Minimum if you do that. Be smart, chose wisely.
Rites: Rank 1, 2pts per. Rank 2: 4pts. Must have Rites as a Background and at least 2 dots in Rituals.

Okay, just to clear up something here (since you've already seen my prototype sheet), but having 4 in an attribute or ability doesn't automatically open up a specialty now?
Also, if I allocated two in Rites (ability) and Rites (Background) in base creation, would that go ahead and allow me to have two level one rites?
