So... he used up more than one Regen at the Crucible, didn't he. And now Nerys is going to pay for his mistakes. What a nasty way to wake the Doctor out of his madness.

Did DEATH bring Death of Rats too?

I like that he's a teacher of physics at a quiet school. That suits him. It did make me wonder why he called the orca "Blackfish", but I can guess his love for watching them. They are intelligent social animals, and he is a telepath. I just wonder how he minds the whole "Strict Carnivore" thing they have, and that they gleefully murder other intelligent species (whales, dolphins)

So, there's three choices for the Next Companion: Janet, Seven, and of all people, Lucsly. I'm very sure that Luscly will put all his might into finding the Doctor, and going off the rails to disable/kill him. So Lucsly as a companion is not going to happen.

Who says they still do? Maybe he's talked to them about that....

Of course, I'm wondering what you think about how the narration has shifted from his perspective to third person....

I'd... not really noticed. Huh.

Actually, I think it's a good way to handle this "not the Doctor" part of it.

Of course, he shoved it all into the pocket watch, just as he knew how to do. This is going to wind up bad, isn't it :(

We'll have to see. I chose the episode title "Legacy" because that is what we ultimately have to deal with in this story and future ones; a legacy.

Namely, the legacy of the Time Lord Triumphant...

A Chameleon Arch....

Explains why it's 3rd Person....he's not the Doctor anymore.

I actually like this change of perspective for the series...
Allen Thibodaux | Archmagus | Supervillain | Transfan | Trekker | Warsie |
"Then again, Detective....how often have you dreamed of hearing your father's voice once more? Of feeling your mother's touch?" - Ra's Al Ghul
"According to the Bible, IHVH created the Universe in six days....he obviously didn't know what he was doing." - Darek Steele bani Order of Hermes.

It was a great speech he gave about Legacies, as well. Inspired writing there.

I normally write in the 3rd Person. But the subgenre of this story involves first person so I did it in that style, and will return to it when events compel John to open that fob watch.

*is choked up* That was a bit overdone, and far too-the-last-second. But John and Janet were very touching and loving.

The Doctor will listen. He always listens to Last Requests.

Yeah.... I think I got carried away a bit when I conceived of the Borg starting to drain the shields so they could begin boarding. Although I actually went back and upped the times in a few of the lines to make their final exchange more reasonable.

And I had to give them the final kiss, of course.

Well... it wasn't a "Everybody Lives" day, but be Damned if the Doctor didn't pull it off in time. Might have cost him his life, certainly cost him happiness with a wonderful woman and a beloved job, but I also think that DTI should consider getting off his ass now.

Edge-of seat action, powerful and moving, I think you hit the Oscars with that one, Steve

When I originally conceived it... it wouldn't have been so happy. He would have failed to persuade the vast majority of the Collective and most of them would have suicided in their anguish.

But when I ended up critically wounding him like that, I decided he needed a victory, that the story and the readers needed a victory to keep the story from becoming too depressing given what had already happened.

Besides, he'll have new reasons to feel like crap by the next story, even if they aren't entirely his fault.

Yeah, that's a damn good reason for him to feel like crap. He missed TWO SEASONS of Korra. The fact he's wounded will allow them to pass it off, but he'll never forget it.

And I told you Lucsly as a Companion as a JOKE. You didn't have to really up and do it

And the Ancient AirBenders HELPED?!?!?!? DO they realize what the Red Lotus will do to her?! Does Chodak really want the Avatar Nature to END?

The fact that one of the Air Benders considered Korra to be a Horrible Avatar is a telling sign from earlier - Maybe they believe Korra has failed and is beyond help - making it time to bring forth a new Avatar.

No, it wasn't all AirBenders, just a few that listened to the Red Lotus and its belief everything would be better. Poor Fools, as the Doctor said.

Jinora, however... damn, shes' got all of her Grandfather's ability and willpower. Her willingness to sacrifice herself makes her more than Aang, who was held back by the need to keep the Avatar lineage safe. I'm glad the old coot finally realized how wrong he was.

Lucsly, Lucsly... good job helping the Doctor for once. Nicely done with the mental justifications on it. Keep up the good work, even if you build that web more to keep the Doctor Out.

No, but close enough in the timeline.
