As my internet is currently down and it is unknown when I'll be able to get it up and running... I'm canceling the Earthdawn session until further notice. Apologizes gang.

Just as well, I'm in the middle of moving to a different state and unable to make it anyway. Wouldn't have been much of a session without the main character. ^_^

Thinking about it, you're right. It would have been difficult without Alan there.

We'll be doing Earthdawn this coming Monday, so remember to level up your Characters. Anyone who needs help, I'll be around basically all the time to assist.

Okay so Tyson and Lys are good to go. If I could guys I would give you cookies. The rest of you... I will remind you that if you don't level your character before the game, you've missed the party bus. If you need to sit down with me on that, by all means pop up a distress message and I will come running as soon as possible.

FYI - I forgot to add in Winds of Deflection to my spell list. As I don't have the book with me, I'll add it to my character sheet when I get home.

EDIT: Now that I'm home, the spell Winds of Deflection has been added to Fehl's spell list.

Okay, so most of us are going to have some expenses before the next leg of our journey, and we have a lot of cash currently. Some of us are even concerned about the weight of said coinage. Well fear not! I am setting up a document for purchases that we will all be able to edit without too much fear of erasing other people's submissions. It's not a wiki, it's not obsidian portal, it's a google document!

You have to give me your email so you can write in it.

Now, some things should be group expenditures. I'm just going to put this out there and say that some things, such as rations and medical supplies, should be largely paid for from the group kitty. If you want to have some of your own, that's cool, I didn't think anyone wanted to eat Nethan's Dwarven Mining rations anyway.

The hope is that this way some things like pots of grumbah won't get purchased more times than are needed, and so we can organize what we're buying between sessions a bit more easily so we don't take up entire sessions on shopping trips.

Also, some suggestions for gear from your friendly neighborhood adventurer:

From Namegivers of Barsaive
1. Light Bag (500s) weight 3. All items placed within this bag weight half their normal weight. It's not a bag of holding, but it's close.
2. Dry Bag (250s) weight 3. All items placed in this bag will be protected from extended exposure to water
3. Theft-Proof Pouch (150s) weight 1. WARNING: BLOOD MAGIC. Anyone trying to cut this purse will end up with a herniated disk. Useful for Kratas.
4. Scarless Pitons (150s each), weight 1. Fuse with rock, capable of holding up to 2,000 pounds. Potentially useful outside of climbing.

Main Book
1. Everclean Cloak (275s) weight 1. While the base form of this is a cloak, this can be adjusted to any outfit you want. Good stuff.
2. Bedroll of Comfort (340s) weight 2. Nothing beats a good night's rest.
3. Cloaksense Brooch (350s) weight 2. Protection from ambushes, only works at close range. WARNING: Causes strain
4. Quiet Pouch (65s) weight 2. Keep your wallet fat, but silent.
5. Firefly Chalk (12s per) weight 2. Glowing chalk. Know where you've been, and light dark tunnels. Useful.
6. Traveler's Mug (350s) weight 1. Water on the go when you need it, even in the desert. Never go without a drink or let your fernweave dry out.
7. Light Quartz/Light Weapons (Variable). Light without fire, and for some, light without having to give up a weapon, and doesn't require fuel. Must be recharged yearly for 10s.
8. Dry/Huntsman's Boots. We should almost all have these, for those of us who don't, strongly consider them.
9. Feed stock for your mounts. Your mounts are your equipment, don't forget to feed them, or you'll have to talk to our local rep of the ASPCA, Di'oq.

Things useful to the group:
1. Pot of Grumbah (75s/200s): It's a cooler. Useful, but not immediately so.
2. Hot Pot (100s) weight 8. It's a stew pot without the need for a visible fire. Also commonly good.
3. Heat Stone (100s) weight 3. It's a multi-use heat source. Heat a room, start a fire, whatever.
4. Divining Rod (75s) weight 1. If it's stupid and it works, it's not stupid. Consider it a simple backup to if our portable potable water supply gets fucked.
5. Healing supplies. This one is long and varied, but basically involves the potions and kit refills needed to keep the party in good health. Sereph can help here if he has the time.
6. Emergency Rations (10s/25s) Weight 8/6. First cost is for 1 week's worth of trail rations, the second is for mining rations. Yes, I know, they suck and only Nethan eats them. They do, however, weigh less, so carrying them for emergencies would not be a terrible thing, and you only get sick of them after a week. I figure 10 packs of dwarven rations and another 10-20 of regular would be more than sufficient for most situations.
7. Feed stock for mounts. Yes, you have a responsibility to care for your mount, but just because you screwed up doesn't mean the mount should suffer. Looking at probably 10 weeks of feed here.

Some of that stuff sounds like a lot, but the food we'll spread throughout the party. We don't need to buy food for the two months because, well, we don't. We're getting paid and fed on this trip so we don't need to stock up too heavily. In fact, we might not need what I've suggested here since there will be towns on the way.

Not included: Blood Charms. I'll leave those suggestions to people who feel more comfortable with blood magic.

I don't know if any of you guys are into miniatures, but there is a Kickstarter on for Earthdawn themed ones right now. Included are things like Tskrang, Windlings, and Obsidimen which are kind of hard to find outside of an Earthdawn context.

So in light of last night's events, can Stormbreaker even smell Hurlg without freaking out?

Because I'm okay with Nethan's habit turning into a trauma for our resident Swordmaster.

Do remember she passed out, so everything between opening the container of spoiled hurlg and waking up in the bath house with her robes in a vomit-covered pile is blacked out. Thanks to magical stain protection anything that got on her clothes rinsed right off, and then it was just a matter of taking a more thorough than usual bath. Like the time with the book, she has once again avoided being scarred by her poor decisions. Unlike the time with the book, she quite happy to not remember a damn thing. ^_^

Stormbreaker does have a talent in avoiding trauma, and I'm going to have to sadly say that what Stormy smelt? Smells in no way like Hurlg. Like a 3 month old dead body in spoiled milk maybe, but not like Hurlg.

I think secretly, Fehl was just pleased that he wasn't the cause of such a situation this time.

That said, I cannot wait to get him to seventh circle. This is when I get my first Enhanced Matrix. Oh, happy day.

Well, it is in line with the Earthdawn lore that humans are an eccentric, troublesome lot. It actually goes with the flexibility theme they've got going on, because it means a human is capable of anything. Just think through all the possible meanings behind that statement, then consider the implications of them all being true, and you can see why it's common for other races to think humans are crazy.

Enhanced Matrixes are Talent Options, you took Willforce as your Circle 5 option, you can take an Enhanced Matrix as your Circle 6 option, no? No need to wait for Circle 7. Me, I'm really hoping we'll switch to Earthdawn 4th Edition when it comes out, then you'll get your matrixes for free!

You're completely right, I mis-counted. I did indeed get Willforce as my c5 option, so my c6 option will be Enhanced Matrix.

And yes, with that explanation, it really is more understandable how you'll see humans doing some weird shit that people of other species might not even consider trying - or did, and decided that it was a horrendously bad idea, and are therefore surprised that someone's trying it... though not surprised that it's a human trying it.

That's racist. Nethan is anything but troublesome.

You're only in trouble if you get caught.

Ah, but you see, troublesome refers to someone who causes trouble, not someone who gets in trouble. Sure the two go hand in hand most of the time, but if you're clever you can be troublesome whilst staying out of trouble. Nethan is no doubt an expert at this.

For this reason, I think I want to eventually take advantage of Fehl's Versatility to get my hands on the Stealth talent option. Fehl's Dex step isn't great, but a surprise conflagration is worth the time and effort involved.

Earthdawn is sadly on hold for a while, but I found the Crimson King's theme song courtesy of my Boyfriend. It's metal as hell and the lyrics fit pretty much perfectly:

Nice.

I set at least one thing on fire, so that makes me happy.

...Next time though, I'd prefer it to be intentional.
