"'F you wanna die, we'n help." Agreed Punt. "Or, you could answer our questions. 'N we give you food 'n water 'n let you go. Hard choice?" He cocked his head to one side, sending the blood from his eye running down new channels.

She looked at him as if seeing him for the first time, and squirmed some more, futilely.

Finally, she relented, glancing at Silver and noticing the silver gauntlet. A right band of freaks they were.

"What do you want to know?" she asked sullenly.

Punt snapped his fingers, and was handed the identikit photo of Jaycee.

"Mmm hmm." Punt nodded. "'F you care that much, we'll save you some. Need a spare leg?" He cocked his head again, further covering himself in a cocktail of black blood.

"'S the one. Got a few of our friends, we're here t' paint the walls with 'im. So. Tell us where he is?" He innocently reached for his belt and took a swig from his canteen.

Punt placed the canteen down an agonisingly short distance from them, and rose smoothly to his feet, taking a few steps back. It was still four-to-one odds, and the woman now had an incentive to stay. Not even counting the four guns aimed at her.

"Do tell." Punt said amiably, idly taking a powerbar from his vest and toying with it.

She seized the canteen and drank deeply, runnels of water leaving tracks down her filthy face. She paused for a gasp of air before finishing off the water, then wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.

"Blaylock Street, it's a house. Dunno the address. I can show you," she said. "For that," she jerked her head toward the Powerbar.

"Catch." Punt said, and tossed the bar lightly in her direction. Of course, that freed his hands to cover her with the magnum. Just in case.

She snatched it out of the air, tearing open the wrapper and digging in with gusto. The energy bar disappeared in record time, wolfed down hungrily. Once finished, she licked away the crumbs from the wrapper, then hunted down any strays on her grimy fingers or ratty shirt.

It wasn't far off. Another four blocks, and she was pointing down the street at a battered, well-fortified residence.

"He has people in there with him," she warned them. "Some of them want to be."

"More f'r us, then." Punt threw her another Powerbar and glanced at Silver. The unspoken question: Should we tell her about the mall?

Silver stayed out of it, letting Punt handle the woman. It was the easiest solution. When Punt looked at him after she had shown them the location, Silver nodded the ascent.

They were in the business of saving as many lives as possible, even as they were about to take a good many of them.

He slide away slowly, picking up the radio and thumbing three times on the general transmit. It was the signal to turn to the private frequency.

He waited a few moments, then tuned his own radio, and was greeted by Decimus' voice.

"Gather the troops, home in on my signal. Tactical like now, we have him."

He relayed the information to Decimus, where to find them, and then switched to the Mall's frequency, "Hunter to base, We've gotten a possible twenty on our boy...."

Punt watched the woman wolf down the second bar.

"We're holed up at the mall." He gave her directions. "Not all as odd as us, either." He gestured to the group.

She shrugged and darted off into the darkness. The sales pitch was rather less than convincing.

Silver waited patiently for the return reply, as he looked over to the two Militiamen. This would probably be thier first taste of action like this. They were probably use to zombie hunting, but this, this was different.

These were, for all intents and purposes, human beings. Silver didn't like the idea of doing this, hunting down a human and slaughtering them. While he waited for Petro's return call, he moved to Punt. "We move when Decimus gets there. I want you to take a team up top, go in through the upper floor, Decimus will come in the back. Flush them out the front, Jaycee belong to me, no one else." Silver's voice was cold, but meanacing. "Anyone else touchs him...and thier ass belongs to me. Got it?"

His voice wasn't so much a voice, as it was a low growl. Something animal-like had gotten into Silver's eyes, and it looked as if he was becoming a predator.

'Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Death...I fear no evil, for I am Death Incarnate, and this is my Valley. Weep and repent, ye souls of the damned, so that I may take mercy.

The perversion of the biblical passage rolled through his mind, as he waited.

He would become what he never intended to be....he vowed to serve and protect. But to serve and protect, he had to take life.

The radio crackled to life.

"Hunter, Headhunter. Sitrep?" FM's radio habits had been rubbing off on them. Brief, to the point, but with a tinge of eagerness that even the radio couldn't mask.

"We got a lead on the prey," Silver's voice was methodical, unnervingly calm, and precise, "Punt found a woman who lead us to him, after calling him out. Awaiting the rest of the Pack, then will perform the strike"

Silver's eyes were closed, Jaycee was his, primarily his, but he wouldn't hold back from letting the rest have thier fun with him. But no, Jaycee was his toy now, when he caught him....the promises he would fulfill.

"We're bringing him in alive...he may be in bad shape...but he'll be alive."
