She chuckled. "What can I say? Had to keep up the rebellious daughter schtick," she said. A sigh as she shook her head, crazy hair tumbling over her eyes.

"I was so stupid before all this."

"The day it went down, I'd just told my boss to go fuck himself, bashed up a bit of City of Malton property, then went and got into a major wreck on the freeway while planning on getting out of town so I could brawl and land in prison," he said with a shrug. "We're getting our second chance to do something with our lives now."

She laughed. "Sounds like we were doing pretty much the same."

And that hurt, because it reminded her of how utterly perfect he was for her. Or at least that's what she thought, as stupid and misguided and teenage as it was.
