"Dr. Freeman says one of my kidneys is ripped all to shit, but hey, I've got two, right?" she grinned sloppily at her own joke.

"Just keep hanging tough, Trouble. I'll be back to see you later on, hey?" He lifted the shotgun over his shoulder. No gunfight in the infirmary, good thing. He nodded to Reaper and started out the door.

"And get some coffee or something... It's cold out."

"Will do!" he said cheerfully as they strolled out into the mall proper and headed for the exit.

After they'd gotten away from the crowds, he looked over at Reaper. "Okay, we're going to hit the horde. Now, everyone else is in units, you and me are floating around, helping where needed, staying on top of things. You cover my back, I cover yours. Good?"

Gwendolyn watched them go, then laid her head back down. She wanted out. She wanted to fucking be out there...

Which was just where Sherry didn't want to be.

She approached Petro from behind and cleared her throat so as to not interrupt them. After they'd discussed the amunition, she piped up:

"The First are outfitted and ready to roll."

Marley approached, delivering a similar message, as did Freddy. Petro looked over the assembled groups.

"Okay," he said. "This is it. For our home here, our families, let's go kick some fucking zombie ass."

Sherry stubbed out her cigarette on the palm of her glove and crushed it.

And with that, he was over the side, bounding down to the ground.

Although she didn't know what sort of a unit 'Ghoul' was, she didn't bother questioning it.

She nodded toward Reaper to confirm the introduction.

"Always good to see new faces that aren't trying to bite mine off," she said, grinning brashly. With that, she took off after Petro like a madwoman, hollering something.

He followed. He had guns, steel, and claws. The humans did not trust him, but he was ready for slaughter. If they were wise, they would treasure him. He would show them why.

"We make our approach along Bleeker avenue," he said, waving them to their vehicles. After this run, they were going to have to siphon fuel off to keep them going, but that wasn't a big deal. He nodded to Reaper. "You're riding with me."

As they piled into the trucks, Sherry shot one last look out to the leaders.

"See you boys at the homecoming dance," she called with a wink. She then slid into the driver's seat and rumbled the half-tonne to life. The Irregulars were all on board, and after a head count and one last equipment check, she looked to Lenny, who was in the back with the two kegs of powder.

He gave her the go-ahead.

As the engines warmed up, they performed their radio checks. Petro tweaked the microphone of his headset... bless Necrotech for dropping them spare batteries for them, he'd forgotten what a luxury the headset radios had been in the first month when they'd actually had them.

Finally.

"This is Head Hunter. Let's do this thing."

He put the vehicle and gear, and off they went.

The proceeded at a reasonably sedate pace, in keeping with the traction and road conditions. He looked over at Reaper and grinned. "Gotta admit," he said. "I love this shit."
