#1 In search of tunes

Post by B4UTRUST »

I'm looking for some good music that has a lot of chanting vocals to it. Don't know why but I'm in the mood to hear some. Any suggestions?

Well, Evanescence's Whisper has lots of chanting in it, towards the end... That's the only suggestion I can give right off hand.

Though if you're like me, you've probably heard that song a billion times.

The irony is that I have all 3 of these suggestions.

And yes, Carmina Burana kicked much ass.

Try NIghtwish, they have some music with chants in it.
and *curses* i can't remember the spelling but it's Inccubus/Succubus (maybe with K's?) They do some really nice Witch chants. do a search on "witch chants" and you should get some nice results.

UHM...I'D SUGGEST SOME OTHER STUFF BUT OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD I CAN'T THINK OF WHAT THEY'RE CALLED. i CAN ONLY TELL YA WHAT I REMEMBER

(<edit>sorry about caps)

THIS kind of chanting:

"Robert Walper has small wang.... Robert Walper has small wang..."

Well, back to the topic, how about Sadness by Enigma? IIRC it is the first new age music that reached into mainstream, and it has a lot of chanting. In fact, almost the entire melody is chant.

Liz Phair's "Flower" sounds pretty chanty...

Probably not anything like what you're looking for, but still kinda chanty. Cool as hell too...

Wait, chanting music? Hold on, hold on.

Scottie, if you're really into chant music, then you should definitely try Gregorian. In fact, right now I'm currently listening to them singing Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven. And yes, in full chant, I kid you not.

Scott's all time favorite music chant is "SCOTTIE DOESN'T KNOW! SCOTTIE DOESN'T KNOW!".

And Gregorian is good. I've got some of their stuff. I like it.

Clannad. Enya. Deep Forest. Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan (can't remember the name of the song). Enigma. Loreena McKinnett. Gregorian Chants. (There is a specific CD just for remixing of Gregorian chants by the monks of St Bene something or another). Beginning song for Interview with a Vampire.

I would also bet money if I was a betting woman or had money to bet that a lot of your gothic horror/action movies would have some sort of chanting songs, especially those with religious undertones like Stigmata, End of Days, etc.
