#1 SirNitram in the Hospital

Post by LadyTevar »

Nitram got the results of last night's CT Scan today, and a direct doctor's order to report to the hospital immediately.

The CT Scan showed a blood clot in one of the veins leading from his intestinal tract. This is the source of the abdominal pains he's been suffering for the last 2 weeks. The doctors have him resting in a private room and have prescribed anti-coagulants for the time being. There is a remote chance he may have to have an angioplasy to remove the clot, but at this time it is unnecessary.

He is (mostly) comfortable, with a good supply of books to read as well as cable TV. He will be there for at least 3-4 days, although the doctors have not confirmed an exact number. They are going to be focusing on finding out why a young man nearly 24yrs old is suffering from blood clots of this nature.

At this time, that's all I know. I'm more than a little worried, but there's little I can do other than attempt to keep his spirits up. The real problem will be keeping up mine as well. :???:

More info as I hear it.

Is there a history of problems with clots like this in his family, or perhaps a history of stroke or anything like that?

May he get well soon. I hope it is not something related to stroke, though. I mean, it happens in intestinal tract, doesn't it?

UPDATE: He will be home tomorrow. He will have to take anti-coagulant shots for the next 5 days, and they are checking to see if his normal (bad) diet may have given him Vit-B Deficiency.

The clot will take several weeks to melt away, even with the shots. Which *I* have to deliever to his stomach. *shuddersquirmshakequake* God give me strength!

Best of wishes to both of you guys. Hospitals suck and I know how stressful that can be. Glad everything seems to be all right.

Just out of curiosity, did they put him on Cumodin?

Cumodin/Wafarin, yes. And it's shots to his stomach twice a day, as well as B-12 shots to his arm.

Why Vit-B12? because the silly bugger is Deficient in B12 and Folic Acid, thus causing the clot in the first place.

Silly BlackMage.

Ugh, can't tolerate injections myself, I can sympathise.

Give him luck from the lot of us, as always.
