The Glitch IV - Inversion (Ch. 1)

"wait... you saw him when it shut down? You both did? That shouldnt be possible..." he trailed off. If it was just her, he would have thought she was nuts. But it was the two of him, and Albert was beyond reproach in his mind.

"I DO NOT think you are crazy Leandra. THings have been too wierd lately for me to reject the idea out of hand. And I watch way to much science fiction. If something which seems crazy has already happened, like those riders, and phantom injuries, then other crazy things all of the sudden become reasonable."

"I know the Dark Warrior was him. I recognized the way he moved. But it wasn't him at the same time." Leandra sighed, shaking her head helplessly. "It has me so weirded out I even dreamed about him last night." There.. safely, innocently said. "And now theres the 'legend of the dark riders' all over the place, and people starting all kinds of rumors. But..." she trailed off, not wanting to voice the idea. "... but what if they're all real players?"

Albert took his sweet time returning to the game. Sleeping until noon and his TA duties contributed heavily to this. When he did, he surveyed the notices. He hadn't slipped into persona yet, and thus could complain.

"Wonderful. Have to do my speech to the ursurper over again." He complained. "Leandra, Elwyn. Any idea what was up last night?" As he stepped into the conversation, he shrugged. "So. Players are up to no-good, making plots roll on. I must admit, it was.. Wierd, how Darek suddenly got fast enough to beat me. And seeing him like that was freaky. But.."

Albert, ever the skeptic, wasn't buying into anything creepy just yet.

The oeices were starting to come together in his mind. Just enough that the edges of the puzzle could be seen, giving fleeting clues to his mind as to what the rest of the puzzle would look like.

"The story posted by the admins is just that. A story, they werent there... they didnt see it. Something is wrong. Very wrong." Justin was worried now. This was reading just like out of a bad horror movie. SOmething out of Nightmare on Elm Street only it was a game world instead of dreams. He was normally a skeptic of the highest order. But Justin also knew when to be suspicious.

"Look guys. Be on your guard. Something is going on. I know that I felt physical effects of that spell, so did Vadlenar, I saw the marks on his chest... And Vi actually got a mark on her in the exact spot that the poisoned blade got her. We need to talk to Ottoman and Decimus, and see if anything like that happened to them. Because if my suspicions are confirmed... we are all in trouble, and we do need to wait until they are confirmed before we do anything"

Hearing Thog 'talk smart' was alwasy disconcerting. Leandra wished he would warn them or something. But El had a good point. "Has anyone tried to see if the Baron's been resurrected? Or if any of those assassinated have returned?"

"we should go and see. Take my hand, I will transport us there" Elwyn said, placing one hand on the same maple and offering his hand to the other two

The look on Leandra's face caused a smirk to appear on Thog's. "Yea, yea. I'll go back to being dumb ol' Thog. Well, until wierdness happens again." He said simply, adopting the appropriate slouch and moving to accompany Elwyn through the tree.

Leandra gave Thog a punch in the arm... not that he'd feel it. "Ok... let's grab Vi as well." She took the hand of the dark elf rogue, who seemed to have idled. "She was mad she got left behind the last time."

What a chain it made, Elwyn to Thog to Leandra to Vi.

And as soon as they took his hands, he whispered the words of power which would transfer them through the tree.

""Alnal Nethrak, uthvas bethud, dothdiel dienveh"

And they were one with the tree, and for a few brief seconds the wind whispered in the trees and bird and beast and flower were one with man, and death was but a dream, and they were on the other side, in the town, a few meters from the keep.

Elwyn walked up to the gate, and asked the guard to inform Ottoman that they were there

Jack logged in. Well, he was still dead.

He waited, hopefully that Cleric would show up again.

Vadlenar saw his friends step away from the tree he increased his pace a bit to catch up with them but not enough to be in a full run. “Greetingsâ€

"Well, maybe not anyone, but you are certainly welcome too" the druid said to his necromancer friend

"M'lord Sir Ottomon is not within the Keep. State your business with the Baron Draven or begone back to town knave."

The guards stood at attention, thier hands resting on thier swords, black eyes kept trained on the group of PC's. Never once did it seem they were joking, always deadly serious.

Maybe to serious.

"We wanted to see if the Baron was successfully ressurected, but we needed to talk to Advisor Ottoman. Can you inform me as to where he is?"

[LadyTevar]

"M'lord Sir Ottomon is not within the Keep. State your business with the Baron Draven or begone back to town knave."

The guards stood at attention, thier hands resting on thier swords, black eyes kept trained on the group of PC's. Never once did it seem they were joking, always deadly serious.

Maybe to serious.

This was... odd. Leandra stepped forward, letting El talk to the necromancer. "We heard the Baron was attacked... we wished to know if he was alright," she addressed the guards respectfully. "As a healer, I wondered if there might be anyone who needed aid."

She hoped everyone else would let her do the talking.

"Well, maybe not anyone, but you are certainly welcome too" the druid said to his necromancer friend

Vadlenar closed the distance between himself and his companions, he then took out a small stone and placed it in the druid’s hand before saying a few words. The stone glowed green for a second before dieing back down to a dull gray green color. “Soulstone, you remember how to use it right?â€

"thank you" Was all Elwyn could say as he waited for the guard to speak

(OK guys, I have to head back to my apartment, which means no internet until i am on campus tomorrow. Tev, I can trust you to move Elwyn along. Same goes for the D&D game. Just... make sure I dont die or something)

It almost seemed as if the guards were intentionally trying to provoke them. From body language, to the tone they spoke in, demeaning, cruel, spiteful.

Of course, it didn't help one of the Guards, a ugly troll with broken mouth-tusks, was openly oogling Leandra, undressing her with his eyes.

Decimus was wandering through the Keep, hopefully a cleric or someone was here to res him.

Everything seemed normal. Serveants heading about their jobs, guards at their posts.

He finally found a cleric who was kind enough to res him.

"Thank you."

Decimus started trotting back to where his body had lain. He finally reached the audience chamber. And the door was closed and guarded.

"Greetings." Decimus called to the guards as he walked towards them.

Unfortunately, Leandra was used to that, so she could ignore him. "I see." Wench? Usurpers to the usurpers? What was going on here? It was like they wanted to start a fight.

Uhoh. "Thog? We're leaving now." If Albert was back in character, Thog would probably take them up on the fight, which would be a very bad idea right now. So, time to step back and rethink this. "El? Van? Vi? Let's go to my shop, since everything seems to be fine with the Baron."

Thog was, indeed, about to leap the troll and bash his brains in. He resisted when Leandra brought up a better idea. "O-K." Thog said simply. "I show Bar-Non da rock later. He gonna like da rock." Rock? Huh? Thog was clearly mental.

... No, Thog wasn't mental. Thog was up to something, but Leandra didn't know what... yet. She'd get answers out of him if she had to cast a Wisdom Bonus on him.

She ushered the little party of Druid, Rogue, Necro, and Thog towards her shop, closed the door, and put out the "closed" sign.

"Ok... am I the only one feeling like something has gone extremely wrong here?"

“There is indeed something out of sorts milady.â€

"I just wanted to punch his lights out for calling Le a wench. And was he trying to provoke us?" Siv was steaming. "What the hell is going on here?" She took one of her daggers out and began tearing the ends of her tunic to shreads.

Rory felt like someone was watching her. She shivered. She rubbed her neck and Sivri echoed the action. She just couldn't shake the feeling like someone was in the room with her. She rolled her shoulders and so did Sivri.

"I've got to get out of here for awhile." She said putting her dagger back, "Sides I'm sure people still want killing done." She looked around and adding jokingly, "And me being the upstanding citizen that I am, will try to stop them." With that she was off. She bounded through the door and into the square.

Matthew woke up and rubbed his eyes. Looking at the clock he noticed that he had a number of hours before he had to open up shop so he got to his feet and headed for the shower. Finishing up he grabbed some breakfast and looked across the boards again. Already one of the people in charge had written about it. Wouldn't be the first time that the administration had gone with the flow on something. There was a five minute revert. Would that mean he would still have been in the middle of battle with that creature? It was hard to tell time during stuff like that. Downing the last of the OJ Matthew got up and headed to the HDD, setting the alarm to go off thirty minutes before he had to open up shop he logged on and stepped into the world of Destiny.

"Ok... am I the only one feeling like something has gone extremely wrong here?"

"I feel it too. The guards tryng to provoke us, the Baron was dead, they are saying he never died... this is strange. Very strange."

Something hit him

"We need to travel to the other towns and see if their guards and nobility are acting any differently. Or at least so much differently that it isnt PCs doing it"
