"Yes, yes I will. And I doubt I will have trouble penetrating your spell resistence" the mage said. laughing at the last part, knowing full well that he would have no trouble penetrating the spell resistence of a dragon Torma's age

"Dragons my age don't have resistances yet, Astinius," Torma drawled, one eye swiveling to look up at him from where she was still happily getting scritches between her horns. "That's why we haven't taken over Faerun again, most dragonettes don't survive to adulthood. Aren't you lucky?"Comrade Tortoise wrote:"Yes, yes I will. And I doubt I will have trouble penetrating your spell resistence" the mage said. laughing at the last part, knowing full well that he would have no trouble penetrating the spell resistence of a dragon Torma's age

The elf smirked as an "ouch" was heard under the robe. Astinius felt something cold and a bit moist crawl up his robe and perch on his shoulder
"Hey!" Mr. Toad said as he caught sight of the dragon, not detterred in the least
"Watch with the nudging, I was trying to slep in there!!"
WIth that, astnius decided to reply
"I am thinking..gnome"

"You dont remember Mr. Toad? Well I suppose he was a tadpole when you last saw him. Took a while to metamorphose"
Of course, at Torma;'s anti-gnome out burst, Astinius started laughing. Hard. He couldnt contain himself

"Of course you're not. I won't let you." she huffed, turning her head away snootily, starting to walk on without him, head high as any offended Waterdhavian society matron. After all, that was where she'd stolen the look from.Comrade Tortoise wrote:"You dont remember Mr. Toad? Well I suppose he was a tadpole when you last saw him. Took a while to metamorphose"

[Anyone who makes a DC 31 Spot check will notice the following]
A man of average height and build with dark brown hair and beard was paying perhaps too much attention to them. He was inside the city, part of a crowd that had gathered half a block away, close but not too close. He was not merely watching the dragon, which many people had stopped to gaze at, but the rest of the group as well. As if he was sizing up a group of enemies.

((Spot 21. Rolled 19. I think a 40 got him))
Torma's head still raised in imitation of a haughty matron, caught sight of someone watching them in a more than curious manner. A man with dark hair and a beard, scars under the beard, his clothes common but show little signs of wear. He was in good physical shape, and he could have large pockets good for hiding nasty things in them. The image set off the 'suspicious bugger' part of her brain as soon as she saw him, and so she stopped to allow Astinius, Malk, and Gaheris to catch up to her.
The first one to reach her receives an affectionate nuzzle, as she passes the news of the watcher to them in a surprisingly low, soft voice. Her tail swishes in the air as it has done, but now the tailtip always flips in the man's direction. It seems the little dragon has learned a bit of tact and strategy after all, hiding her knowledge and passing it thru indirect means.

(Rolled a 17+12=29+2(toad familiar granted alertness)=31... just barely)
Astinius who, was following behind her, and just barely spotted the bastard thanks to a helpful nudge and glance by Mr. Toad who was still riding on his shoulder.
As Torma gave him the warning nuzzle, he acknowledge the danger with a nod and casually readied his hands to weave destructive magics in their defense.
He glanced into Gaheris's eyes as he arrived and motioned with a nod of his head into the suspicious fellows general direction and said "heads up, we are being watched" in muted celestial

Malkamar wasn't quite as sharp-eyed as the rest, but he could tell the signs of alertness. He nodded simply, and glanced to Gaheris. "You wanted to show us something." He said simply. "Why don't we go to this little place I know.." He offered.

Torma knew when a ruse was being planned. "Ooo! Ooo!" she chortled, playing the cute, adorable, hyper (12-foot long) dragon. "Malkamar always knows the *nicest* places... Let's go let's go lets' go!"SirNitram wrote:Malkamar wasn't quite as sharp-eyed as the rest, but he could tell the signs of alertness. He nodded simply, and glanced to Gaheris. Gaheris nodded smoothly and casually turned his head past their watcher, seeming to focus on something else but getting a good look at him as his gaze passed over the man. He then turned to look at Malkamar. "Ah, let's just head over to the market first," he said, jerking his head towards the next corner, one that he knew a convenient alley lay around. "I've got a surprise I need to get for our friend."
As they rounded the corner out of sight of their watcher, Gaheris whispered "Keep going, but not too fast. I'm going to see if I can get the drop on him." He slipped down the alleyway and ducked behind a stack of crates.

The others continued on their way as Gaheris dropped into hiding. Their tail followed them discretely at a distance and moved past the paladin's hiding spot without noticing him.

Gaheris quickly stripped himself of the false beard and scar and moved out towards their shadow, moving along for all the world like a man in a hurry to get to market and not particularly watching where he was going.

Torma had taken it upon herself to keep the conversation flowing. It was an extremely easy job for a copper to start talking and not shut up or let a word in edgewise from her companions. However, she was still keeping the occassional eye on the man following them all while spinning a story about a joke she'd played on a traveler she'd met during her trip to Westgate.

Gaheris was able to close the distance with their watcher, sliding right up behind him without being noticed. The crowd had thinned by now. To most observers, he would have just been another citizen

[Armed, but not drawn. Bright Edge is still in its sheath.]
Gaheris slipped right up behind their shadow and slipped a dagger from his wrist sheath into his right hand, and placed the point of the knife to the man's back.
"Keep walking," he hissed in the man's ear.

Torma was still talking. She could have been born a brass as much as she was talking, walking, and just coincedentally paying attention to what was happening behind them with the stalker.
"... so I told him that I wasn't going to eat his pig without paying fair price for it, but if he thought that pig was worth ten gold he was insane and Gaheris has got him so keep walking turn the corner and the farmer said that either I paid it or I didn't get the pig..."
Hopefully her companions were paying attention. If they weren't, she'd be very miffed.

Malkamar just walked with Astinius and Torma, listening patiently. It was worth the story of the pig to being given reliable updates. "This way." He noted at a corner, turning around it and leaving the tail behind. He closed his eyes, touching the Plane of Shadow briefly to draw a shroud around the dragon and mage to provide some quiet cover to avoid further detection.
