"Cut me down in the street if you wish," the man replied calmly. "We are drawing attention. You should make up your mind before the Watch arrive."

It was Torma who broke the stalemate... unfortunately. Hearing a little of the conversation, she took it upon herself to save the day. You poor buggers.

"GAR! IT'S YOU!" she shouted, spinning towards Gaheris and the stalker and charging in a puppy-like rush of affection. Her aim? Bowl them over and play 'happy puppydog' on both of them, which would be the same thing the Watch has seen her do to at least two other men she knew within the last 15 minutes.

Of course, the stalker might not like having a dragon sitting on his chest....

((of course, that would work better if I hadn't rolled a 1 on my bullrush))

Torma's right foreclaw caught in between two cobblestones for a moment. It was enough. The spy lunged to the side and the dragon crashed into Gaheris, knocking them both to the ground as the spy sprinted towards Westgate's alleys.

Gaheris went down. Hard. He held on to the dagger for dear life, keeping it from stabbing either Torma or himself, though it was a close thing. "By the Nine Hells," he roared as the dragon collapsed atop him.

Torma's jaw cracked the road, leaving her a little dizzy as her body landed over Gaheris' chest. Luckily for him, she was still too small to do crushing damage to his body. While long, she was still realitively light. Her neck was twisted, putting her head just close enough that Gaheris' roar was nearly in her ear. "..... ow...." she whimpered, realizing that she had just really screwed up, and that Hlal's joke was on her this time. Slowly she found her feet and started to rise up off of Gaheris.

Astinius thanked Mystra that he had the foresight toprepare Hold Person that morning instead of his usual Blink spell.

His hands wove in intricate patterns as his voice intoned relatively minor words of power which should hopefully stop the man's movements long enough to capture, move and interrogate him.

The man seemed to shake off the effect of the spell, barely breaking stride when it hit him.

"Blast." Malkamar muttered as he wrapped himself in shadow and hurried after the man. It was often noted how it was nearly impossible to be unseen while hiding, and they were right. But most still didn't count on the likes of him.

Astinius cursed under his breath as he ran after the man, trying to get him in his line of sight so that he could use another spell

Torma finally got to her feet, shaking her head carefully to clear the dazed feeling, before looking sheepishly down at Gaheris, her neck hunched like the shoulders of a child caught being naughty. "Sorry Gar..." she muttered quietly, one clawed hand reaching out to help him up.

Gaheris brushed off Torma's proffered claw and sprang to his feet. He forced a chuckle. "That's all right, Torma, but you need to remember that you're hardly a wyrmling anymore." He spared a glance for the staring faces around them. This wasn't going to fool anyone. "Come on," he muttered in a lower voice, striding off towards the alley the man had disappeared to. He was unlikely to catch him, but there was always the off chance...

Torma followed Gaheris, her head tucked against her neck like a scolded child and her tail all but dragging in contritement.

Malkamar ran through the alley, shrouded by shadows. The passerby lost track of him almost immediately. As he neared the other side of the alley he saw a busy street, but no spy.

Gaheris strode into the alley and immediately stopped. He scanned the alley at ground level, seeing nothing.

He then shifted his gaze upward. If the man had gone into the crowded street on the other side, someone would have seen him emerge, and he would know that. But going up was another story. If he had gone onto the rooftops somehow, then things would get a little more interesting.

Torma stopped when Gaheris did. "Did we lose him...?" she asked, still more than a little shamed at how she'd been at fault for losing him. But she could make it up for them if she could find him. "I'll try to find him, Gar... promise."

Time to search the alley for where the man went.

Gaheris growled in frustration. "Right. He's probably gotten clean away, but we'll see if we can't find him," he said, continuing to scan the alley while slowly walking towards the other end.

While Torma was able to find the man's scent after carefully checking, it merely indicated a trail that lead out into the chaotic mix of Westgate's streets. It also meant that the young dragon got a snout full of Westgate alley stentch. Gaheris's check also turned up nothing unusual about the alley.

Torma snorted, trying to get the stench out of her nose. "Gaaah... how can humans *live* in this stench... blacks have better housekeeping than this..." she muttered, then sneezed a small sparkle of static electricity. "He's gone... I can't find his trail once it leaves the alley."

Her head rose, looking Gaheris sorrowfully in the eye. "I'm sorry, Gar. It's all my fault... I heard you having trouble getting him to go with you, and thought I could help by pretending to pounce you." Her head lowered, shamefully, "I screwed up...."

Malkamar faded back into view as he joined Torma and Gaheris. "It's alright, Torma." The Neth spoke softly, shaking his head. "Even I can't find him. Let's regroup. They'll send trouble our way real soon, but it's best if we've prepared and gotten out of the limelight. You did good." He soothed the Dragon.

When looking at Torma, it's entirely too easy to think they're adults. But this one was still a child, and needed encouragement. "Looks like our entrance isn't as quiet as it could have been." He smirked. "Which means life will be interesting."

"Right, well we'd best cut our losses. Let's get off the streets before they can arrange more tails, and keep a sharp eye out." Gaheris moved back into the street to rejoin Astinius and get to a safehouse. And made a note to abandon whichever one they used, because going in there with Torma would simply be impossible to conceal from the Night Masks.

It's not her fault copper dragons do not have alternate forms. "Umm... do we want to make me un-dragonic for a while, so I'm not that easy to spot on the streets, Gar?" Torma asked, not yet starting to move from the alley. "I know you have places you don't want to be found... and taking me there like this is just asking for every tonguewagger to start talking."

See? the little dragon is getting smarter all the time! A younger Torma would never have considered that.

Torma looked around at the empty alleyway, deliberately moving her head from side to side so Gaheris got the idea. "Gee.. this is a street? I thought it was a half-hidden alley..."
