#1 Just played through Chrono Trigger again

Post by Destructionator XV »

And it is still a great game. 13 hours this time to finish the game and all side quests, not new game+. Many of the bosses actually beat me early on in the game; I think I have grown too used to the level 99 save on my cartridge. Get whipped by the Dragon Tank, the Guardian, the R-Y series that beat up Robo, Nizbel, Flea and Slash!

However, after playing cautiously against them, I moved on, and didn't have any trouble with the bosses from Magus onward. Fights in the Black Omen were still somewhat hard though, partly because I wanted to steal from all them (the red flyers give gold studs and the Panels give speed tabs; yummy yummy), and also level 45 can still get whipped if you aren't careful!

Also a note on level 99: the only fight that is even a remote challenge is Spekkio. He takes the apparence of a pink Nu, and hits you with Flare, Luminaire, and Dark Matter! You have to absorb an element to beat him. Really awesome. Also, on Level 99, Crono does not have maxed out magic attack. He is only about 50, and you have to magic tab the rest up. So far on my save, I have him to 80, and Luminaire regularly does almost 4000. When I get it to 99 that will be awesome. Though, magic tabs are the rarest in the game. Speed tabs are easily stolen, and power tabs are everywhere. Ayla kicks ass at level 99 though: the bronze fist is awesome.

Talking about ass kicking, Lucca with the Wondershot is amazing. I ended up taking Lucca this time around for her normal attack often. There is the one gun that causes Chaos on hits, and of course the Wondershot that can do thousands in a normal hit! She also has Flare, making her agruably the most power offensive character. She's pretty awesome.

Something that makes me wonder: when you bring Crono back to life, you replace him with a clone, while Schala is also sitting right there. What if you replaced her too? It wouldn't do much to the Trigger story, but she is quite significant in the Chrono Cross story, though in the background. I'd say she is important enough to set off the Chrono Trigger. Wonder how radically different the world would be with her being pulled out of there?

Also, before Lucca goes back to save her mother's legs, they are talking about an entity other than Lavos that was creating the gates, but they never elaborate much on this. Been a while since I've played Cross, but could this be related to Chronopolis in that game? I will have to new game+ on that again to see how it fits in; I don't remember the story well enough.

it is the planet. It is remembering it's greatest moments. It is an analogy of a person seeing his/her life when they are going to die.
