#1 Is "Firefly" a good show?

Post by Destructionator XV »

I have access to most the episodes from a friend who says Firefly is completely amazing, but after watching one of them, I am hardly convinced - it seemed rather lame. Do people here think it is good enough for me to spend more hours watching more of the show, or would I be better off spending my sci-fi hours watching TNG reruns again?

Give it a shot, but try to watch them in order, as it does have something of an overarching story.

I've yet to run into someone who really enjoyed TNG more than Firefly.

Yes, I do think it's good enough for you to spend a few hours watching it.

Seriously Adam, you're talking about a show you've never watched compared to TNG reruns. Implying you've already watched TNG before. Take a chance and watch Firefly, even if you don't like it you will be able to make that determination by yourself.

Um-he did watch one of the Firefly episodes. Check the OP.
That being said since Firefly never made it to german TV I really have no opinion on it.
And as someone currently watching TNG reruns I have to say it wasn't all that hot, either, during the last third.
For example, today's episode was 'Cost of Living', where some stupid space parasite or other is turning vital cpmponents of the ship to goo, threatening it's very existence. What does the episode focus on? Troy's mom's wedding and her interfering with Troy's and Worf's attempts to teach Alexander to stop being a brat.
And people call B5 a soap opera in space.

'Go ahead. Bake my quiche'.
'Undead or alive, you're coming with me.'
'Detritus?'-'Yessir?'-'Never go to Klatch'.-'Yessir.'
'Many fine old manuscripts in that place, I believe. Without price, I'm told.'-'Yes, sir. Certainly worthless, sir.'-'Is it possible you misunderstood what I just said, Commander?'
'Can't sing, can't dance, can handle a sword a little'
'Run away, and live to run away another day'-The Rincewind principle
'Hello, inner child. I'm the inner babysitter.'

Which episode was it? You might've seen one of the not-as-good ones.

You really do need to watch it in order. It makes more sense that way. I would also definately recommend it over TNG reruns. Firefly gave me way more good hearty belly laughs and was a lot more fun when I got into it.

On a mostly unrelated note, it's also much easier to dress up for it, since you can just go to any ol' Western outfitter store to get the proper clothes.

I Certainly enjoyed Firefly, but I do think it's better to watch in some rough order. If nothing else you get an idea of who the fuck everyone is.

God yes, Firefly rocked.

The movie was mildly disappointing, especially given that it amounted to the end of the series, but the series itself was awesome.
