Anyone with particularily accute psychic sense will note that there appears to be more than one xenos psycher and that they appear to be acting in concert.

And a minor note: Theda is (or, rather, was) a woman.

Opening a vortex right on top of a Pariah? Right... So we're facing the Tzeentch himself then?
Time to do the Heroic Marine routine, and rescue the damsel in distress, err, Inquisitor in distress, from the ravening warp portal right on top of her...

Consult Hereticus and the remains of Mistress Beliquin for what happens when you throw a pariah into the middle of something out of her league. The Necrontyr Messenger wrote:Opening a vortex right on top of a Pariah? Right... So we're facing the Tzeentch himself then?

I don't recall it too well, actually. That one was quite forgettable. What did happen to her? Something involving Quixos, no?

Does anything about using a rune staff to project her into the mind of a chaos possessed titan ring a bell? The Necrontyr Messenger wrote:I don't recall it too well, actually. That one was quite forgettable. What did happen to her? Something involving Quixos, no?

Nah. Only chaos titan incident I recall in those books was Cherubael blowing one up. Still, seems to me like that's a clear case of using a pariah in a manner not intended by their designers. Use a remote control as a club, don't be surprised if it's damaged.Cynical Cat wrote:Does anything about using a rune staff to project her into the mind of a chaos possessed titan ring a bell?

That's what made Gregor desperate enough to summon Cherubael in the first place. Because his pet pariah got blendered by the mind of the chaos titan. The Necrontyr Messenger wrote: Nah. Only chaos titan incident I recall in those books was Cherubael blowing one up.

I foolishly assumed that a warp manifestation that could be summoned by psykers into a combat situation was on a rather lower power level than a daemonically possessed Warlord Titan.
Needless to say, this will not happen again.

Considering an alpha grade psyker can smoke the afformentioned titan and you were dealing with the massed and prolonged efforts of several psykers . . . . . .GeneralTacticus wrote:I foolishly assumed that a warp manifestation that could be summoned by psykers into a combat situation was on a rather lower power level than a daemonically possessed Warlord Titan.

A pariah is not a "get out of psychic effects" free card. Its a block and a shield and like any shield it fails when you hit it with enough force.

That last warp trick is strictly non-canonical as far as I know; I thought it made sense, and it seemed to have actual potential as a means of dealing with the warp-attack-eating, Untouchable-flaying Ubervortex of Doom. However, if it’s ruled that it would be flat-out impossible (as opposed to Halima not having the skill to pull it off), then in the interests of not portraying Halima or her teachers as total morons, I’ll edit it out and go directly to Plan B.

You can syphon away power, weakening it. It is a mass of gathered and shaped power that was prematurely detonated by the pariah (the strain tore a whole into real space before it gathered to full strength) The vortex isn't mobile either, so leaving the vicinity will also help. Of course, there's heavily armoured, plasma rifle armed praetorian drones ahead.

I'm not sure whether to be thankful or terrified at the revelation that it could have been worse.

Edit that, Halima alone isn't going to shrink it. Its going to grow, even with her work. It'll just grow slowly and have weaker suction. Its had time to build and has multiple psykers feeding it.
And as for worse, ask Josh if you can ever catch him online. When Eisenhorn dropped his in Hereticus he took out several levels worth of building instantaneously. It could be worse.

You know I'm sure that 99.9% of that sort of claim is pure hyperbole. There's a reason Eldar, with far higher psionic potential and more refined uses for it than humanity, have their own titans and psyker-titans, rather than just trouping a dozen warlocks out and letting rip. It's certainly possible, but I doubt even many A+ psykers could do it (let alone to a demon-titan) without risking horrible gribbly chaos death.Cynical Cat wrote:Considering an alpha grade psyker can smoke the afformentioned titan

Alpha and alpha plus don't grow on trees. Even among eldar getting together a group of psykers who can smash through void shields to zap a titan isn't going to be easy. They shear power required is going to be enormous and there is, of course, the question of the titan shooting first at long range. That said, I tend to believe it is quite possible for some of them. I should remind you the Jaq Draco was able to stun a chaos titan in the Inquisition War, and he wasn't alpha grade.

The titan lurched 'drunkenly' and accidentally trod on a chaos marine - hardly stunned, more 'distracted a bit' kind of like a slight breeze catching one by surprise. And that's in a fairly warp-active enviroment, with a force rod amplifying his efforts. He had just spent himself in part on attacking the demon in the moon, though. If I wanted to bet on how precisely these psykers kill titans, I'd bet on them using 'the Gate' or something to that effect, to get onto the command deck, and filleting the control crew.Cynical Cat wrote:Jaq Draco was able to stun a chaos titan in the Inquisition War, and he wasn't alpha grade.

More than distracted a bit to lurch and start stepping wrong. Perhaps not power word: stun stunned, but definitely "disorientated and needing to get your bearings again" stunned.
As for titan killing, the best way is definitely to take out those fragile meat pilot bodies and brains.
