Okay just saw the movie Descent (some call it Dykes in a Cave, I call it British Girls vs Goblins). Since my last thread recieved no comments I'll try again.

This battle will take place in the lower levels of Corcuscant pre-Vong. Unleashed upon these levels are the 3,000 Reavers with their tools and weapons, 48 of the blind echo-locating goblins from Descent and last but not least 400 Street Judges led by Dredd.

The Judges have their sidearms, armor and several magzines of reloads each.

Who's the last to go down?

Hrm, if the 48 blind things did the escape and evade bit they certainly have a good bit of staying power. They can climb walls just fine and there is probably a good bit of available food in the lower levels (hawk bats, granite slugs ect) and they have fairly effective natural camouflage.

The reavers however have all the tenacity of the blind things but they also have the nifty use of tools. But they cant climb as well, though there is an ample amount of salvage available to them so they can make god knows what.

And finally the street judges while they don’t have the bat shit insanity of the others, are second in numbers, and are probably not all as bad assed as Dredd. However they do have useful weapons and body armor though I don’t know how effective it is at stopping knives/teeth/claws.

Interestingly enough I think I have to give this one to the reavers, they have the ability to make tools and have the best numbers as well as the happy bat shit insanity. Should they properly ambush the judges I think they could do quite significant damage, though Dredd will probably mow down dozens (possibly hundreds) of reavers while judging them. GUILTY!

I am going to have to go with the goblins.

Look, there is no fucking light down in the lower levels of Coruscant. None. It is just like a cave system. So the reavers are boned. They cannot see in order to build shit, and they are batshit insane.

Batshit insanity DOES NOT HELP unless you can terrify your opponents. The Judges wont be phased, and the Goblins... shit they have no flight response at all, and are surrounded with all manner of food. They may even sit the fight out and become part of the indigenous fauna

The judges, so far as we can concretly tell, are blind as well. I may be willing to give them a HUD, which may have infared capability, but honestly, they wont have perpipheral vision which is worth a damn in those helmets.

They also have limited ammo, they only have so many signal flares and they are fighting echo-locative ambush predators, and batshit insane reavers which attack in suicide wave after suicide wave, and because they are fanatics, they will be doing a lot of judging.

After they run out of ammo, they are boned. And they will run out. They will be ripped apart by reavers, who in turn are ill equipped to deal with the native fauna of the lower levels for long. Any of them which get seperated will either go insane or be eaten by...something.

In the end, there wont be any reavers left, there wont be any judges left. There will only be the goblins.

"I didn't break the law! I AM THE LAW!"

Judge helmets can include HUDs tied to their weapons, light amplification, thermal, infrared, vision enhancement for distance, aural enhancement, flare compensators, internal respirator, air supply, bio/chem filtration and other such niceities. It's made of a plastisteel effectively covering their heads and necks from attack, preventing penetration from all but the highest caliber AP rounds.

Their armor is a dense weave designed to resist cutting, stabbing and add protection from bullets, though not as much as the plastisteel. Plastisteel armor padding is added over the chest, shoulders, elbows, and knees. Boots are also plastisteel toed.

The Lawgiver MkII which is what I'm assuming is refered to as their sidearm, being the standard issue weapon for the Street Judges, is capable of multiple types of ammunition ranging from AP to HE to micromissiles, rubber bullets, heatseaking, gernades, inciderary(White phospherous based), etc. The heatseaking ammo was capable of locking onto a perp's body heat and sending bullets right at it every time. There is no running from that. There is no evasion. There is only judgement, and death.

Now, since it wasn't listed for or against I'll also throw in as an additional(if no one objects), the abilities of psi-judges. These included, but were not limited to, the ability of teke, tele, corpse animation, pre-cog, clairvoyance, mental blasts, complete mental destruction(read: human veggie), the creation of limited shields, enhanced senses and awareness, insane luck and sixth senses, physical enhancement. Even at only 12 of them in the 400(a reasonable number for the judges, seeing as psi abilities while not exceedingly rare were not everyday common.) this could be a large factor to play in. Knowing what the Reavers or Goblins were going to do before hand would be a huge advantage, as would being able to drop one into a coma from lack of a mind, not to mention picking up a few of them and throwing them into the others. Bowling for psychopaths. Or, I don't know, finding them in the dark by picking up their minds.

Given all this I believe that the Judges would have a far better effectiveness then people attribute to them from the occassional comic read or the *shudder* movie. I mean these are the guys who stood up to Judge Death and the Dark Judges. Dredd walked into a sector over run with armed criminals, judged all of them, and walked out without a scratch. These are the judges who survived the Robot Wars, the Sisters of Death, the Aliens(Yes, Aliens as in Sigorney Weaver Aliens), The Cursed Earth(read: giant fuckoff radioactive wasteland), Necropolis, Megacity wide Blockwars and the Armageddon Wars. These are judges who have fought in every environment from the moon, to space, to alien planets to supernatural realms of death and survived.

A few thousand reavers? Shit, there are more perps in your average blockwar then that, and most of them armed with anything from small arms to tactical nuclear weapons capable of taking out entire sectors! Goblins? Yeah, cute little mutants that need to go back to the Cursed Earth where they belong. Plus the Judges have Dredd in charge? Judge Joe "I am the LAW!" Dredd? Judge Joe "Gaze in to the fist of Dredd!" Dredd? Yeah, this is a masacre. These aren't snot-nosed rookies or cadet Judges. These are hardened Street Judges from Megacity One. They've handled blockwars bigger then this and come out alive. I'm not seeing many issues with them doing that here either.

Edit: I even forgot to mention the fact that these are Judges. These guys have worked together, trained together, lived together and studied together since they were small children. They are at the height of human physical conditioning. They are trained in tactics and are intelligent, thinking humans. They can plan, attack, ambush, counterattack and come up with creative plans and execute them. These aren't insane idiots who are going to dash into a firefight without a thought. Some will die, oh yes, but their kill ratio will more then make up for it. Consider that; Tactics and intelligence vs insanity and animal hunting instinct...

Dredd "GRENADE"... LGMKII 'GRENADE'...........BOOM

I have to agree with B4 on this. The Judges are going to win, their only issue is finding all the goblin things.

Goblins may not run...but they hide, climb, and attack in such a fasion that it will take the judges longer to kill them all.

Revers may not last the longest, but they will definatly take out their fair share....may even end up wipeing out the goblins.
