Torma had to admit, that was a good question. Gaheris was smarter than he looked.

Dulchas repeated the question. The corpse replied. "They are the heralds of Mak Thuum Ngatha, the way made flesh."

"Mak Thuum Ngatha... Mak Thuum Ngatha..." Torma muttered to herself, more to remember the name than with any hope of having heard of them before. After a couple more seconds of thought, she looked up at Garheris. "Last question: What do they want with Us?"

Astinius closed his eyes and delved deep into his mind, searching furtively for anything relevant. His brain was practically a library, as when he was not casting spells, he was reading ancient tomes for lore both practical, and long forgotten.

Astinius searched through the depths of his memory. Mak Thuum Ngatha was not a demon or god worshipped or called to any part of Faerun, as far as he knew, and his knowledge was extensive. The entity had to be foreign and play little part in the great divine intrigues that affected the fates of the Outer Planes for he not have heard of it.

"What do they want with us," Gaheris said, taking Torma's idea for the final question.

[LadyTevar]

The little dragon leaned forward, eager to hear the answer to her question.

[Cynical Cat]

Dulchas relayed the question. The corpse spoke. "You."

[Comrade Tortoise]

"Nice and ambiguous." the mage said

"And also unfortunatly, I do not know anything about this Mak Thuum Ngatha. All I kow is that he is foreign to Faerun, and for a deity, he doesnt get out much. If he did, I would have heard of him... This does not bode well."

[SirNitram]

"Not that ambiguous." Malkamar murmured. "For some reason, they want us, or at least some or one of us. No surprise there; we're rather a unique group."

[Comrade Tortoise]

"I meant that the answer didnt tell us anything we did not know. THe answer was specific, but not informative. We already know they want us, and probably for a specific purpose"

[LadyTevar]

"And we are out of questions..." Torma sighed.

Gaheris let out a snort of annoyance. "Could the last bit have been any more ominous," he asked with just a trace of irony. "Well, at least we have something to go on. Come on, let's hit the mess hall. I can always think better over food."

[Cynical Cat]

"It's passed dark," said Dulchas. "Everyone's eaten. I hope you don't mind cold food."

Gaheris chuckled. "I've had much, much worse," he said with a wry glance at the cleric. "I'm sure Justiciar Krelben would only be too glad to tell you every sordid detail about my upbringing, or lack thereof, but suffice to say that as a child I often went about picking scraps out of the garbage heaps behind inns."

Although the the cook fires had dimmed, their was no shortage of food in the kitchens. They were, after all, a complex that fed a monastary, a church, and a small garrison as well.

Gaheris searched through the larders and quickly found that roast mutton had been on the menu that evening. He pulled out a haunch and tossed it to Torma, quickly followed by drawing out a more reasonably sized cut of meat to be cut up for the rest of the companions.

Amazing how fast she could move to catch the haunch in mid-air. Torma carried it carefully in her mouth, trying not to drool overmuch as she snagged a large metal platter to lay it on. "Thank you. I find myself hungry again, for some reason..." she replied, delicately taking small bites of the meal in a civilized fashion.

It was a pointed difference from the huge bites she'd taken out of the oaken pew earlier. Now, she was eating 'in polite company'. Then, she was hungry, angry, and wanting to make a point about how big her teeth were, and how fragile those around her were. But the temper tantrum had passed. "So, do they want us as sacrifices? or because they've divined we're 'destined to stop them'?" she asked, making polite dinner conversation.

"We can't know until and unless we manage to divine their intents ourselves, or better yet, catch one of their agents alive," Gaheris said as he retrieved a carving knife from the kitchen. "Anything until that point is just guesswork, and that's nothing to go forward on. We'll have to keep trying, and in the meantime we can't forget the Night Masks." He frowned. "I'll also need to see if anything in the library here can help us."

The group [evidently] ate in silence. Gaheris stood up, still chewing his last mouthful.

"I think we ought to sleep on it. It has been a long day for all of us."

[LadyTevar]

"A waste of a day..." Torma muttered to herself, delicately picking her teeth with the last sliver of bone from the haunch, before swallowing it as well. "So, what room will you shove me into this time, Gaheris?"

"I'd tell you to pick one, but you'd take it literally," he said with a chuckle. "What would you like? I'm sorry that we don't have a suitable dragon lair here in the abbey, but space is tight, you know."

[LadyTevar]

"No pile of gold and jewels? However shall I get my beauty sleep?" Torma quipped, rolling her eyes dramatically. "I guess I shall have to satisfy myself with a clean spot on the floor, in a room with one easily defended entrance..."

Asinius sighed. Having eaten with such a gusto he didnt speak.. Casting spells was draining, as was using spellfire. But he would have to do it again. He would however, need someone to cast spells on him, as he cant do it and absorb the spells at the same time.

"Torma, what spells can you cast?"

That got an odd look from the copper. "Why do I think you are not asking out of mere curiousity, Astinius?" she asked, not really wanting to reveal how pitiful her knowledge was.
