A nearly-naked Crassiros stuck his head around the corner of the corridor, and was rewarded by the thump of a blast knocking a hole in the wall near to him. Nearly naked, because he was wearing a heavy mask procured from the corpse of a stormtrooper. He didn’t wish to be gassed after all. Clutching a bunch of smoke and blind grenades from the same bodies and several of the wounded, he crouched, and sat them on the floor, before ripping the pins from two at a time, and lobbing them down into the passageway, cheap smoke, and expensive, IR-blinding ‘blind’ chaff grenades pattered down, and exploded.
Contrary to popular belief, this only serves to increase an enemy’s rate of fire, for while it prevents targeting, it certainly doesn’t prevent shooting aimed at killing enemies charging. Then Crassiros barked a few commands to set the rocket launchers up to fire krak down, hoping, rather than to cover a charge, to prevent the enemy being able to effectively kill the rocket crews first. The heavy weapons teams advanced into position, taking casualties from the xeno's blind fire. Arms were blown off, faces obliterated, and chests were blown open by the enemy's weapons. Brilliant, searing lances of laser light flashed through the gloom. A small volley of krak missles answered them.
