SMs shoud be okay. I mean demi-gods equipped with the best technology of the the IoM are around equal to well equiped psyker inquisitors.

Good to see you've taken such good care of him.
You're the one who decided to do a headlong charge against crack Tzeentchan troops who were pouring heavy fire into your position.
Of course I did, it worked didn't it?

Besides, Ristani has obviously been a bad influence....

If you mean you sent yourself to the hospital and the troops with you to the morgue and still lost the position, then yes it "worked." And Prius is more than a bad influence, he's a walking, indescriminent abattoir.

Hey, he did -not- kill that one Arbiter who fell for the PsyKing's explosive glyph. He just fried his face a bit with plasma.

And the fact that his aim was impaired by hastily-installed augmetics is not the issue.

sizeable numbers of space marines (including, to satisfy my fanboyness, some of the Raven Guard chapter)
Well the Raven Guard is definitely here and you could always offer depraved sexual favors to Necron to convince him to include your favorite chapter.

Okay, so yeah.

*beings paperwork to have Cyncial Cat sent to the Gulags*

It sort of worked. Varian did kill a rather nasty Chaos scorceror and pry some of his secrets from his mind as he did him in.

You're trying to get a cat sent to a gulag? And you think a gulag will hold a cat? Put down the bong and step away from the computer.

As for the secrets you got from the minor chaos sorcerer, they consisted of the fact there was more troops coming. Didn't need a mind probe to figure that one out. :D

Don't worry, Stormy. Prius would fully approve of Varian's actions and be very proud, if he heard about them or remembered a damn thing that happened that day.

And that's all that matters.

I was, I confess, thinking of setting it straight after, but if you folks want there to be a few weeks or months or even years in between, say so.

We had been planning on doing this with goodly chunks of time in between big stories, a la Eisenhorn. What we could do is some aftermath resolution, then a jump.

Yeah, I'd like at least a few years inbetween. Not too long, though; More than a decade would be pushing it.

Well, I'd been thinking twenty years, give or take, myself.

Twenty years, in the Eisenhorn fashion, allows for both a certain amount of continuity (some of the same retainers and so on) and for some real jumps in character growth and development. That was part of the charm of the trilogy, that each book opened on a whole new chapter of his life.

Since there are several Inquisitors running around, how would a Deathwatch Marine work? I was thinking perhaps a member of one of my own Chapters recently shuffled around into Deathwatch duty (at the GM's discretion, of course).

Yes! Deathwatch! At last Prius will have somebody on his side who doesn't truck with stinking xenos.

I'd say that we might want to do something closer to 40-50 myself. Twenty years isn't that much for the elite, world hopping upper echelons of the Imperium.

20 or 50 works for us. Whether or not it works for the plot of our Fearless Leader is another issue.

Okay. 50 years later. Though I dread what you bastards might have gotten up to in the last half-century.

Ooooh... fifty years.

Okay, next question... what is to become of Prius.

Varian thinks he's inquisitor material.

I think he could possibly be Ordo Xenos material, but that would be up to discussion for the group.

So here's the two routes I see... he does get the schooling, serves as Varian's Interrogator for a while, goes on to become an inquisitor.

OR

He stays non-inquisitor, and ends up doing a Schaeffer with the Last Chancers routine.

Well, Varian's going to see that he's screened and such first. He'll take him into service to use, one way or the other. A lot of will be what Ristani does.

A psychic hench-commisar has it's uses but I imagine Ristani will wind up holding rank one way or the other.
