There's been a number of remakes of old games in the past (mostly unofficial but some commercial), so which ones would YOU like to see redone, and how?
My favourites would be
1. The GoldBox games, preferrably using 3.5E rules and an improved TOEE engine
2. Colonization
3. The original X-COM trilogy. There's Windows version of XCOM and TFTD and A works on 98 but the graphics have not aged well and they all suffer from the problems of the originals
4. Planet's Edge. Nuff said.
5. Elite. Elite 2 was technologically superior but suffered from giving you a lot to do without giving you much in the way of motivation to do anything at all.
Of course, a case could be made that that was already done, and called 'Privateer'.
6. Wing Commander. Let's hope WCU gets finished sometime.
7. 25th/Judgement Rites/AFU. Hell, graphic adventures in general. The genre seems to be comatose.
8. SSI's five star series. What's wrong with a)turn-based, and b)having if and how you won a mission actually influencing the course of the campaign beyond 'you lost, retry'?
9. Dark Forces. Can I please have a Wars FPS that doesn't focus on Jedi?
10. System Shock. By the time I ran into that game the graphics and interface were so clunky (by then-current standards) it was no fun anymore.
11. Hired Guns. One of the best multiplayer RPGs ever. Too bad the PC version sucjed compared to the Amiga one.
12. Millenium 2.2/Deuteros.
13. MAX. Preferrably with a REAL campaign, much larger maps, and less bugs.
14. Dogs of War. (again, from the Amiga). Best 2D GROPO shooter I know.
Yes, okay, I'm bored.

Any Microprose sims: F-117, Gunship 2000, Task Force 1942, and F-15 Strike Eagle III. I would like to see them being remade with modern, 3D accelerated graphics.

So be it. If saying "NO" means being alone, then to hell with love, with romance, with marriage, and all the shit life keeps pumping at me. I'll walk alone, but with freedom and a healed pride.

I have a part of me that wishes the old helicopter flight sim LHX (made by Electronic Arts, IIRC) was remade into a modern game, and I MUST see a remake of F-19; I had the rare chance to play this game back when I was in high school, and other than the atrocious high-pitched screaming (imagine Lilith on PMS, that's how it sounded on the speaker) the jet's engine made, it was loads of fun.

I still own LHX Attack Chopper. Pretty cool game, with much in common to F-15 Strike Eagle II (both on the Sega Genesis for my copies), which I have been playing a little again recently.
Yeah, those would be cool to see again, especially with multiplayer added.
Another good game to see again would be Perfect Dark. The original is the best console shooter ever, so they need not change much. Just put it on better hardware so it can handle more players (like Halo) and maybe release more multi player maps (or a map editor! That would be awesome).
Duke Nukem 3d would be pretty cool too, as long as he is still badass.
Another really cool game I would like to play again is Space Shuttle Project for the NES. I still own the NES cart, but it really shows its age. A remake of that could be really good.
Also remakes of a few of the older shuttle simulators would be fun to play, especially if they go for accurate recreation of the shuttle, like "Shuttle" for DOS did. All the switches and blinking lights should be there!
Lastly, Star Trek 25 Anniversary and the Genesis Star Trek the Next Generation games were both great, and if remade competently, I'd play them.
Most times though, I prefer the orginals to remakes anyway, but still, I'd be willing to add a good remake to the collection along side the classic.

Check this out. I haven't actually played it, but it looks amazing.Destructionator XV wrote:Another really cool game I would like to play again is Space Shuttle Project for the NES. I still own the NES cart, but it really shows its age. A remake of that could be really good.

What I really want to see come out in the US are the old Phantasy Star remakes for the PS2. They were going to come out maybe two years ago, but the company doing the translation went out of business...
