"To be honest, I am still... wounded from both fights of the day. I had blocked the pain out of my mind until now, it being occupied by other things. But I fear rest will not recouperate me fully. I can heal myself, but my ability to do so is...drained, until I absorb more spells. I would cast them on myself, but I cannot absorb spells and cast them at the same time. Of course, all of it is moot if Dulchas is still here" ANd the mage looks around for the priest, having been so unnaturally for an elf and a mage enraptured in food that he had neglected his surroundings ever so slightly.
OOCNote: this is all predicate on the assumption that Dulchas is not currently here. If he is, I will simply ask for healing

Dulchas doesn't seem to be around.

"He didn't follow us in.." Torma commented, having noticed the fact. "But, what you're saying is you want me to cast what spells I have at you?"

He just did have time to finish the sentence before Torma was smirking, and the assault of various 0- and 1st level spells hit him. Ghost Hand tried to tug his scarf away, Ventriloquism whispered lewd comments into his ear. Ghost Sound tried to startle him with roars and other animal noises.Comrade Tortoise wrote:"essentially yes. If you dont want to risk being without spells during a night attack,, I have a wand that might work..."

Astinus was prepared for this the moment she started the incantations of her spells. And the spell's energy was quickly absorbed into his body. The sounds of the ventriloquism and ghost sound spells subsided away almost as quickly as they began. The magic turning to shades of blue, red and purple as it was transformed into its raw components and sucked into the mage's body

Almost immediatly after the spells were absorbed, Astinius was consumed by blue-white fire. It knitted his wounds back together and started to make the numerous bruises disappear (10 HP healed)

"Right, well let's get some sleep," Gaheris said, heading to the mess hall exit. "We'll need it tomorrow. First thing I intend to do is check on Solarian and Crisen, and we'll go from there."

"show me where to sleep then." Torma sighed. "Although you may want to check on Dulcas ... make sure he's tucked in..."
Why was she so suspicious of the priest's sudden vanishing act? Torma couldn't say... nothing the priest had done had been that suspicious. Still... awfully convenient to have him show up just then... and to vanish now.

"Well... If you wish, we could fix you up with a vacant cell, or you could just use the floor in my room," he offered. "It shouldn't be too hard to round up a few spare mats and blankets.
"Anyway, I'll go ask after Dulchas with one of the duty officers, if it makes you feel better."

"If it's on the way to your room," Torma said, green eyes twinkling. "Are you sure it won't hurt your reputation to sleep with a female?"

Ah, her favorite target speaks, and Torma gives him a very wickedly large grin. "I could sleep in your room with you, Astinius!" she replied cheerfully, already thinking of how to curl up in the bed with him.

Gaheris chuckled softly. "Oh no, dearest Torma. See, I have to keep you close, because, sad to say, there are few vacant rooms that would be suitable, and I'd rather trust a gryphon in the stables than you." He also wanted her uncanny knack for sensing approaching intruders at hand, but didn't say so. He was inexplicably nervous for some reason, despite being behind the stout walls and doughty guards of the abbey for once.

Torma eyed him. "Are you seriously suggesting that I would stoop to eating horse-flesh? Hrmph! The very nerve." Although, if she was hungry enough, horseflesh was better than oaken pews...

"All right," he said, still chuckling inwardly. He led the way to the monastery building and into the guest wing.
He indicated the rather spartan room he had awoken in that morning. "In here," he said, pulling some spare straw mattresses out of the closet to lay across the floor. His own bed was little better. He could have commanded more well appointed quarters, as befit his station, but he never felt comfortable in luxury. Good food he would never tire of, but he had considered hay bales the height of comfort in his youth, and felt out of place in more luxurious surroundings.
"I have a few things to take care of before I turn in myself, Torma," he said as he finished laying out the padding. "I'd say that I'll try not to wake you coming back in, but I know better. I won't be long."

Astinius had followed behind. His own quarters were not that far away. He had grown up in a twisted semblance of luxury, and would have none of it. He was however curious as to what the paladin was up to. Perhaps checking after Dulchas? Either way he waited patiently to either be summoned along with him, or for the paladin to leave on his own.

Gaheris left Torma in the room and padded out to look for the watch officer. He'd probably be up on the wall or in the gatehouse...

Torma snorted at Gar's little joke, and proceded to carefully as possible turn the straw mattresses into a nest. She wound up with her body in contact with the floor, the mattresses forming a mounded circle around her to support her tai and head, with the backpack containing her horde carefully tucked between body and mounded wall, her wing draped to further conceal it.

Gaheris found the watch officer at the gatehouse. Dreslin was watching the House of Shadows.

"Dreslin," Gaheris said, making sure not to startle the man. He moved next to him and followed his gaze. "Trouble, or just contemplating our difficulties?"
