Yeah, it was pretty basic 'no shit' kind of stuff which I felt would just be done quicker if we said OOC what we each wanted.

At the moment results of diplomacy:

Trade agreements have been made with the Morkan, The Isle of LahkNi, and the Netherese

Trade was already made with Hylidaeus, Uriendel, and The Farnian Republic.

Trade between the Koronan Empire and Æthelmearc turned sour when the diplomats began sniping each other. The Koronan were turned away when it was decided that the Koronan were not offering more than a pittance of trade.
IRWriter86: Ingal smiled and nodded politely, "We have some of the finest cloth to be afforded, warm cotton, the greatest of wine in the East, varying spices, and delectable fish among our chief exports. What do the Nithgaard trade in?"

TeamhairTahal: Yngvar listened to the list, giving no sign of what might interest him. "Wine we have, while our fishing fleets ply both the Western Gulf and the Channel Isle for fish and lobster both. Cotton is warm, yet furs are warmer. Let us not play games, Envoy. You know of our exports. If you wish to speak plainly, speak of what you wish of the Nithgaard."

IRWriter86: Ingal smiles and nods slowly. Ah the trials of diploacy with the Nthgaard. "What we wish is simple Duke Yngvar. The Empire wishes to open extensive trade with your nation. As for furs, they are warmer but not as plentiful nor are they as easy to mend or shape to the builders whims."

TeamhairTahal: "That would depend on the skills of the seamstress," Yngvar parried, realizing that the envoy had not realized how much of the Duke's finery was actually sueded leather as fine as cloth. "You offer cotton, fish, and spices. What would you wish in return for your trade, Envoy?"

IRWriter86: Ingal pursed her lips in thought for a moment. "I suppose this would be true, I hear of the great skill of the elven seamstresses, in fact it is the results of such elven skill that the empire would like to trade in, as well as for the precious metals that are deep in the bowels of the World Spine."

TeamhairTahal: "Ahh, now we get to the heart of the matter..." Ynvgar stated softly. "Which is it that you wish more... the leathers or craftsmanship such as decorates the very chairs in which you sit, or the gold and silver we mine?" It was as the Queen had always said: Humans loved shiny metals far more than their short lives, and would do much to get it. It would be interesting to see what they would give for refined gold.

IRWriter86: Ingal always had the polite smile of a diplomat as she spoke, the other diplomats seemed little different. The Leroani guard however was almost noticably bored with it all. "Considering we offer spices and cotton, I do not see why we should not be capable of agreements. However, it is not only in these goods that the empire wishes to trade, but we wish to open our trade with you for many things. Perhaps we Kainan can learn from your ancient ways in that regard." Ingal bowed slightly, hindered by the chair some in this motion.

TeamhairTahal: Yngvar's thoughts returned to his conversation with Queen Gliadrachan. Hordes of priests, intent on conversion to their faith, as she had said. He bowed back, his motion not hindered by his chair at all. "Please... tell me of these 'other things' you wish to trade for our leathers, furs, gold, and crafts. I do not assume that you would have need of lumber that grows upon the WorldSpine, or that your own fishing fleet might not have the means to fish the freezing waters of the North for the luxury of lobster and crab."

IRWriter86: Ingal pondered the question for a moment. "A trade of goods is mutually beneficial to both our people. Extensive trade between us of varying goods, even those we may not require, will lead to great economic growth for both of our nations."

TeamhairTahal: "Is it not said of the Nithgaard, that we will say everything and nothing in answer to a question?" Yngvar asked casually, his bright eyes hooded as he looked at the Ingal. "You come and ask that we discuss trade quickly and openly, then bind your requests in vague terms and promises, speaking of benefits without saying what you wish to gain in return."

IRWriter86: Ingal paused. "You say that as though you almost feel frightened of the Koronan Empire, Duke. Governmentally, we are interested in trading with you for specific goods. What we also wish is for the common merchant to be thought of in this trade agreement, and as you must know, it is impossible to state what goods a common merchant may bring to port."

TeamhairTahal: "Frightened? Of a kingdom barely free of a civil war... of a religion that seems all to eager to spread by the sword?" Yngvar countered smoothly

IRWriter86: Ingal kept her smile on her face. "Our nation does not spread our religion through the use of the sword, nor can we be blamed for the actions of other nations. As for the recent civil dispute, that was my point exactly. We are of no threat to the Nithgaard."

TeamhairTahal: "Yet you continue to be coy about your desires, Envoy Ingal. Wine, fine cotton cloth, and spices... for simple gold and silver, crafted by our hands? Or do you wish the gold and silver as lumps for your kingdom to turn to coin, to refill the coffers your warring has emptied?"

IRWriter86: "What we do with our goods should be no concern of yours, Duke Ingal. Your country says it cares not for the trifilings of mortals, why then do you press us so on such a simple matter as trade?"

TeamhairTahal: "It would be a concern to know that the fine crafting of gold and silver jewelry are to be melted down for mere coinage, Envoy Ingal." Yngvar answered simply, expertly hiding the annoyance building within. "If all you wish are metals for coins, sending you treasures would be pointless, would it not? I am merely asking what would best suit your needs, and yet you take offense."

IRWriter86: "And now you speak down to us in assuming that we would be simple enough, and poor enough, that we would need to melt down foreign goods to fill our coffers. Do not be coy with me Duke, you read far too deep into a simple matter. You have access to fine crafts we do not, and thus we would like to trade, though perhaps our needs could be taken care of elsewhere."

TeamhairTahal: Yes... these humans were far too prideful and easily riled. It would be best to end this travesty of politeness now, yet Duke Yngvar could not make that decision himself. "Perhaps... and perhaps not. As I have stated, I am merely the voice for Her Majesty, Queen Gliadrachan. She is the one whom shall make the final decision upon this matter." Yngvar rose from his chair calmly. "Let us adjourn this meeting for the moment, for hasty actions are oft regreted. Allow my men to escort you back to your lodgings, and we shall continue this upon the morn."

IRWriter86: Ingal stood, the rest of the diplomats standing after her. "Very well Duke. We shall meet again upon the morn." With that Ingal, her troupe, and her Leroani guard were escorted back to their lodgings. As the guards left, runes on the Leroani's body began to glow, blocking out any magics effecting the room. "Ingal?" "Yes, everything is going as planned." After having a meal the diplomats stayed in their room until night time, when they slept.

Still waiting on word from Ra.

On another note. I'm going to be gone all of next week, starting tomorrow. It's thanksgiving break, and home has no internet. So I will not be around.

The people of Ehk'reh'tehk have set up trade with Eire. With the Taurean empire, they have set up a moderate military alliance and trade.

None whatsoever. We might get it started before he gets back; I'm waiting on DarkSilver to give me an answer because honestly, the game will be started by his move, so he needs to be ready before the thread goes up.

Uh...

by my meager powers of observation I have determined it to be after Saturday, and a gaming thread is still lacking.

Sorry about last night, family reunion ran longer than I thought. Putting up the game thread now.

Edit: Posted. I'm staying with my aunt for the next several days; don't know how often I'll be able to get online. Go ahead and play, and try not to do anything too outrageous. I'll be on when I can.

Okay, the Internet situation's not so dire as I thought, but it's still limited. I should be able to get on at least once a day, maybe twice. I'll be back to more regular posting by the weekend.

During a brief moment of connectedness with Charon (then followed by total connection collapse in mid conversation) confirms trade treaties with the Halls of the Jagged Peaks and Stofsk's Magyar horde.

Just so it is known, I will be adding a primer on language to my OOB. The native language of the Hylidaeians is obviously nothing resembling a human language, and their written language is pictographic and mathematic. Asfrog calls dont really translate well into actual words...

I'm not so sure we need a language primer. Unless you're planning to post in frog... Oh Hell you are planning to post in frog.

A note on the renown of special characters:

Any important figures you have down are, obviously, going to be known by more than a select group of people.

1 point characters- Known inside of your country and their neighbors. For example a 1 pt. character in High Korlech would have been heard of in the Holy Kingdom of Saint Steven, but not in Hylidaeus. Most other characters that don't have singular points spent on them will fall in this range as well.

2 point characters- These are men of great renown, and will be known of throughout much of the continent. State rulers and major religious figures also fall under this category even if they have a lower point cost. For example, a 2 pt. character of Eire-Pict would be known of as far as St. Stevens, but beyond that they will not be known by the common people.

3 point characters- These mens names and tales are known across the continent. When you're this powerful, it's hard to have people not notice you. The Ithilid have heard of the Witch King, the Morkan has heard of Rasss'tah, Eire-Pict has heard of Gregori.

Obviously, this is on a sliding scale. As a known character goes further away from home, history will turn to story, story will turn to rumor, and eventually no one will know of the character, it's just a matter of scale.

Also, there will of course be exceptions to this if, in the case of the Morkan and the Skarklagger, they don't get out much, or that the character while somewhat powerful, has tried hard to remain low-key, this would effect how known a character is.

This isn't any hard and fast rule or anything. You should run pretty loose with this and just play around with it. I just wanted to say this to head off any minor incidents where some 2 pt. character who has slayed dragons might walk into the court of some neighboring country and have his name not be known.

Well, there are circumstances where it may be useful to have that known.

And yes, military commands will be posted in the form of frog calls....
