frigidmagi wrote:"Thanks for getting the food. I'm starved and Collin is half crazed with hunger."
Li Na stood back and let them dig in first. She'd been tasting the food, so she wasn't as hungry. Have to make sure it's good, right?
"I've had a few bad ones of my own," said Blackheart, "but haven't really done any damage to anything during them. Including myself."
She gave David a curious look. "I'd hate to see you sleepwalking. We'd need Marcus or Gravitas to take you down..."
Legacies wrote: "All yours, eat to your hearts content, may be the last time you get to for awhile."
"Aren't you cheerful...," Li Na teased the old man. "Elias and I bought enough groceries to last me for a year, it seems. With these three around," she motioned to David, Collin, and (Blast), "I hope it lasts out the week!"

"Heh, least it's not as bad as the bunkroom I torched back at Ultima." Somewhere in the back of his mind, something remembered the dream that set that off, sending a small chill down the empathic link to Li Na. He nodded to Blast and smiled as he took the drink. "Thanks man." He took a long swig from the drink and then looked at the food, piling it up onto a plate and sitting down with everyone else as he started to devour the food.

"Anyway, more damage to me than the building, I think. Of course the big thing I remember is being on the floor. And the food. Mmmm." He wolfed down another bite with fervor.

"I don't sleep walk," said Blackheart, "but yeah, that would be bad. Sleepwalkers can be dangerous to disturb. Add in superhuman strength. . ." he let the though trail off. "But I don't so that's not problem." He grabbed another beer and handed it to Blast. "If you please sir?"

"No Prob." Blast said chilling the beer has he piled food on his plate and dug in. He ate solidly for a few minutes and then came to a thought.

"So are we gonna start using our real names or is it time to make up some fake names?" He asked.

"Thanks," said Blackheart as he took the beer back and popped the top. He tought about the question and then took a drink.

"Stay with our real names for now," said Blackheart. "They're ordinary enough. Fake names when we establish fake IDs. No need to start making it real confusing until necessary."

"Good. I'd hate to bill you for repairing my house," Li Na replied, a shadow hand delievering a glass of tea to her hand. Once again, it was notable that she was avoiding alcohol, and snickering at Blast cooling off people's drinks. "Were they not cold enough from the fridge?"

"Almost," said Blackheart. "Almost, but not quite." He nodded in Blast's direction. "And he's got the perfect touch."

[Assuming that Tasat and Tholos have been filled in and generally brought up to speed during the missing few hours.]

Tasat's table manners were, in the kindest terms, apalling. At least he showed appreciation for the feast. In fact, the level to which he was enjoying the food was almost disturbing. Having virtually inhaled two heaping plates of whatever was in arm's reach, he sat back and heaved a very contented sigh, along with a meaty burp.

"By the gods, that was good. So then. Your group is facing unknown enemies, unreliable allies, and the forces of the Underworld. If I were not as mad as a drunken camel, I would put as much distance between myself and the lot of you as possible. But Tholos and I are at as great a disadvantage as yourselves, so we might as well stay."

In some cultures, a burp like that would be the perfect compliment to the cook.

But not in Li Na's.

Heaving a sigh, she started filling a plate of her own. Let Blackheart deal with them now.

Legacies almost smiled at Tasat's satisfied belch. "We would not put it so kindly, and you forgot about the future seeing madman who wants... something." Legacies took a large chunk of steak off of his plate and chewed it thoughtfully.

Gravitas floated lightly down from the ceiling he had occupied, moving to take his share as he pondered. "I have a small agreement to keep up with the name of my birth. Crosstime travel is a real pain in the ass like that. But I've caused the guy enough trouble, so I'll leave him the name. Gravitas or Mike. Haven't used the other in.. A long damn time."

As he set out more than one steak, he considered. "There are worse fates than attacking the forces of darkness. For example, attacking them means you will generally be facing them when they try and kill you. Much preferrable to the alternative."

"Tarot isn't time. He's got a lot of control over it.. More than I can lay claim to.. But it's important to remember ripping him a new asshole does not destroy future and past. Also, he's only human. He has limits. We must simply find them, and exceed them."

Li Na was oddly silent as they discussed Names, picking at the food on her plate as she listened.

"What is in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet... so my sweet Romeo would, were he not Romeo called...."

She did not realize she spoke aloud, any more than did Juliet.

Ghost's face was hard. "So, basicly, we've got nothing. Just the fact that who ever did this could block your power." He knew he should cut Mindborn some slack, his features softened. "All right. Any ideas where to go from here." He said to the rest of the group.

Compared to Tasat, Tholos' table manners were remarkable. He actually used the napkin that was given to him and managed to cover his mouth when he burped, although he did eat just as much as Tasat did and was actually on his third plate.

"I agree with Tasat. We are at a major disadvantage due to the fact that we have no intel gathering abilities, no money, and are still about 3000 years behind when it comes to culture and customs. Thank you very much for the food, it's very good."

"Well we learned one important thing, the person who did this wasn't alone and had help. The next stop is the crime scene. Have our people scan the area. As for the rest of this stuff... Hell I don't know. It needs to be read, see if we can find something.

"Besides, you should know how this works by now. We stumble down two hundred wrong turns before finding the right one in an investigation. If this job was easy everyone would do it."

Blackheart got up and loaded his plate down with seconds. "My compliments to the cooks," he said. He slid back into his spot and then got up. "Almost forgot. Anyone up for another beer?"

Li Na sighed, shaking her head at David. "I'm already up, I'll get them," she said, walking around the island between the family room, breakfast nook, and kitchen. As soon as she stepped into the kitchen shadowarms were already reaching into the fridge.

"Thanks," he said. He twisted the cap off the non twist top bottle. He gaze flickered over the exiles in time. "I guess what we do with these guys is next on the agenda."

"If they're right in what they say, then Abaddon was just a cloned body," Li Na said bluntly.

"Then Abaddon was just a flash-recorded memory with a demon tied to it. How pleasant." Mike grunted between bites. "Starting to wish I had more firepower to bring to bear, but if I start enabling that, there'll be an N-Day here, and no matter how much this world thinks it's adjusted to metahumans, Novas are a new ballgame. One no one should have to run into without preparation."

"If it makes you feel any better, being a 'clone' does not seem to affect the inhabiting spirit or soul's magical power. If anything, Tholos and I are stronger than when we died. With the Words, I mean. These bodies are fit, but they do not compare to a real warrior."

He turned his attentions to Blast. "So, Blast. What was that look when I spoke of the godchild earlier?"

Legacies crossed his arms as he remembered his fight with Abaddon. A slight shiver ran down his spine.

"So by the time we fight them, Abaddon might be back. That's good to know." Legacies looked around at the assembled group. "We've dealt with him before, and now we won't be holding back."

Legacies finished off his steak with a small smile.

"Actually, that's bothering me. How populated is the area around RCE? I know I'm kinda alone in this, unless Blast finds a handy nuke powerplant, but 'not holding back' is something I refuse to do around civilians."

"Outside of Albequerque ... but the area there's been built up with suburbs nearly as thick as Las Vegas." Li Na pointed out.

"We need to do recon before we start talking about how hard to drop the hammer," said Blackheart. "There's too much similarity between those black ops assholes who stole part of Legacies and what seems to be the case with Abaddon et al. The information beens in the system long enough that they could have been tipped off and bailed to another location."
