Heroes: The Road of Good Intentions

[Cynical Cat]

After a while Blackheart came up for air. "Damn woman, you go from glacial to volcanic at the drop of a hat. I'm really out of my depth with you."

[LadyTevar]

"Call it payback for how you confuse me," she teased. "And before you ask... Elias knows."

[Cynical Cat]

"That we slept together? Of course he does. About us? I don't even know where we stand, if he's got a better idea of what's going on then it would be nice of him to share."

[LadyTevar]

Li Na laughed at his confusion, half-tempted not to enlighten him. "He knows that I am still very interested in you, and is willing to wait. He also knows..." her voice drops, sobering, "You're losing ground fast."

[Cynical Cat]

"The sand is almost all out of the hour glass," Blackheart said nodding. "That's why I have to speak with the kid. I don't have a whole lot to pass on to Blast, but nothing can wait anymore."

[LadyTevar]

"Then I better let you go get those IDs," Li Na answered, stepping away from him. "Do you want me to stay in the city?"

[Cynical Cat]

"Yeah, I might need to move around after. Thanks."

[LadyTevar]

"My pleasure," she said, stepping back into the shadows. "For what it's worth, David, as long as you need me, I will be there...."

[Cynical Cat]

Blackheart walked into the vault and pulled out the key. He twisted it in the lock and opened the box. Inside there were passports, IDs, credit cards, and cash for a half dozen identities. He scooped all but one out and put them in a bag. He walked out of the vault and passed the the manager on the way out to door.

"Everything satisfactory sir?" she asked.

"Perfectly," he replied.

Finding a cyber cafe didn't take too much longer. He checked his email and got Reason's message. Fake IDs for the team and new email address and com protocols. Handy.

He stopped to buy a lap top and then made his way around to rendezvous with Blast.

It took nearly a hour for Saibot to fly him and Kyosuke to the hidden location. The land looked the same for most of that hour, and Saibot was sure that Kyosuke was looking for landmarks - the only of which was the Vegas lights disappearing in the Eastern horizon.

"We're here" Saibot suddenly announced, taking them down towards the sands. It was a moment, before the sands seemed to part, a hidden signal sent from Saibot's helmet comm, and the bunker entrance raised from the ground. The duo swooped into the bunker, which descended back behind them, the sand settling back into place again.

"Welcome to our new United States command center" Saibot said as the inner lights activated on their own, illuminating a sprawling hanger like structure, several doors marking as exits to the rest of the compound.

Kyosuke looked around the large structure as they landed within it.
"I shudder to imagine the tax payer dollars that went into this," was his only comment.

"From what I understand...it wasn't much. Most of the funding was private."

Saibot walked from their landing spot, towards one of the exit doors that the sign said lead to the C&C.

"We've still got some work to do, most of the base was stripped when the Project hauled ass out of here...but I think with some work, we can get it reoutfitted back to new..."

Kyosuked followed Saibot through the complex.
"So where did you plan to get these new materials? I'm assuming you don't have a magical tree that grows computers."

For her part, Argent found a nice quiet little cafe to sit and enjoy a green tea smoothie, and caught up on the news showing on the cafe's monitors.

The trial was not the top story, so it took a while to get to it, but when they showed Garth being taken into the courtroom on the live feed, she was taken with the urge to 'port to Millenium City that very second.

It took a lot of willpower not to do it, despite all that had happened.

"Not exactly. I intend to requisition equipment from some of the surplus depots....and I have a feeling Project Guardian is still operating out there somewhere."

when they reached the C&C, the door slide open, and Saibot walked in, "I've already had the computer running through some of the datafiles they didn't delete...and I have some possible locations of where they may have went under. Worse comes to worse.....I intend to raid Gramercy..."

"And what exactly do you hope to accomplsih staging a raid against a prison? I think that would be somewhat counter productive to our immediate cause."

[Dark Silver]

"They have some of the best equipment on the planet, in order to restrain the prisoners they keep there. If it comes down to it, and we have no other choice....well.."

Saibot walked to the computer console, and started looking over the readouts.

"And in the process would end up inadvertantly freeing some of the worst metacriminals on the planet. Which, again, I point out is counter productive."

[Dark Silver]

"Not if we eliminate them before they escape. A small group, armed with Rings....we could kill a lot of supercriminals before they got out, or knew what was happening..."

"But that's neither here nor there, we don't need to worry about Gramcery yet..we've plenty of other avenues to consider first."

[B4UTRUST]

"Fine, lets lay them out and see where they stand. You obviously have a handle on the equipment side of things. We also need to see about expanding our ranks. I think I might know one or two..."

[Dark Silver]

"I want to bring Ghost in on this..." Saibot said matter of factly, a sheet of paper begining to print out from a slot on the desk like console.

"He could be useful to us.."

[B4UTRUST]

Kyosuke had to laugh at that one.
"Sorry, my friend, but unless Ghost is more indebted to you then I believe or I managed to convince him of the cause I highly doubt he will be willing to join us. Something about me trying to kill him a short while ago gives me that impression."

As updates on the trial came over the feed, Li Na lost interest in both her drink and the small snack she'd bought with it.

"He plead guilty?" she whispered in shock, the echoes of it ringing down the links. He plead guilty? Why would he do that? What's he thinking? They'll send him to Gramercy, or the Station! What's he think ----

... Unless. . . he knows he won't get there.

She rose, leaving her snack behind. Time to find Blast and Blackheart.

Saibot just stared at Kyosuke for a moment, the helmet a blank mask the Japanese man would be hard pressed to see through. He tried to kill Ghost....someone he was hoping to use as a agent within Ultima.

Damn it.

"We just have to be willing to hope I can convince him.....to see the light."

With that, Saibot looked over the printout, nodded to himself, and stuffed it into a pouch on his belt.

"First things first...I need to go see about putting my ear to the ground in Vegas. Behind the glitzy facade, Vegas actually has some pretty nice tech-companies hidden in the rough...."

She had moved into an alleyway before shadow-slipping, following the twinned thread that was Blackheart. As usual, since she did not know where he'd be or who'd be around him, she found a nearby shadow to cautiously check the area first.
