No one could miss large robots moving across the base, and DeathStrike was an imposing figure. Crimson looked to Stryke as soon as she saw them moving him. "Maybe... you should stay out here a bit..." she suggested, then started walking away. "And don't worry, I'll make sure to stay near Overload in case I need a body....

Hornet? When'd you get out here?"

" 'Freshen up'?" Deathstrike asked. "From my scans of the Internet that terms applies towards altering the exterior of biological organisms and attending to biological needs. How does that apply to Cybertronian robots?" He followed Gridlock.

Hornet let out a soft yelp as Crimson suddenly noticed him. He scrambled up to his feet, sputtering and stammering, trying to think of what to say. Holding his wings behind his back, he scuffed the dirt with his foot and meekly replied. "I... I um... I... I just... I heard... someone singing... I thought. I just... wanted to see who it was..."

He cringed as he finished the sentance, as if he expected to have a dent knocked into his head for overhearing them.

Instead of smacking him, Crimson laughed. "I never realized my singing was that good, actually..." she said, half-embarrassed. She looked back to Stryke, a little sadly, then down to Hornet.

"Would you mind escorting me to the base?" she asked, just loud enough for Stryke to overhear. "Stryke's worried something will happen to me if I don't have a bodyguard with me." She was again teasing the bigger bot.

Stryke ignored her and kept his focus out into the tundra. He had noticed Deathstrike back up and moving and sighed.

Hornet blinked, completely missing that this was a joke. "... me?" he asked, confused. "I... um... sure!" He broke into a broad grin and hopped over to Crimson, then paused, not sure what he was supposed to do exactly. Was he supposed to fly air cover?

Shellshock woke up, laughing loudly as he looked over at his 'brother', noting that he was missing. "Damn! Once again, I'll be compained at about always sleeping. Ah well."

Shellshock got to his feet, his gears and joints groaning and creaking as he did so. The ancient warbot went for a bit of a walk, passing by Maintainance Bay 5 he remembered that the Decepticon and the Autobot were being let out. He caught up to the others stepping out of the Bay and followed them towards the living quarters.

"Pretty eager to meet Prime, just nervous around so many Autobot's that you're not sure if they really wanna tear out your spark and force-feed it to you?"

"No," said Deathstrike. "A swift death is better than a slow death by degrees. That fate I have avoided. As for attacking me, that would mean disgracing Prime. Few of you would do that."

The enthusiasm of the teenybot was catching, and Crimson found herself laughing again. "Just walk with me back to the base," she said to Hornet. "I think Stryke needs a moment alone."

Hornet nodded happily fell in beside Crimson, walking briskly to keep up with the larger Autobot (all Autobots were larger than he was).

He couldn't help but ask though concerning what he had overheard.

"You... you really think I... I could be a great flier?" he asked hopefully. "Like Jetfire?"

"So, you were out here listening, hmm?" she said, looking down at him with a smile. She wasn't bothered by it, herself. "Yes, I do think you'll be a great flier... once you learn to obey orders and not play childish pranks," she finished with a smile.

Hornet lowered his head sheepishly as she asked if he had been listening. She didn't seem overly annoyed though, which was good. When she answered in the affirmative however, that she thought he would one day be as great a flier as Jetfire, Hornet felt like he was fifty feet tall. Nevermind that she had qualified it with many exemptions, Hornet was always immoderate in his excitement.

"Thanks Crimson!" he chirped in his innimicable way, and without even thinking twice (when did he ever?), he gave her a big, squeezy hug around her waist (which was about as high as he could reach), squeezing as hard as he could (which wasn't very). In his mind, he was Hornet the mighty Autobot Warrior, engaging dozens of Decepticons at once, and shooting them all out of the air in flames.

Someday...

Shellshock almost smirked, he stopped himself just shy of the action. "On the matter of a swift death, we agree Decepticon. Though I do see that you understand Autobot matters some, which will help your eventual... filtering, into the ranks."

Crimson paused, looking down at Hornet in surprise. A... a hug? That was...

"You are a child, aren't you!" she whispered, looking down at him.

"Prime would be wise for that to occur sooner rather than later," said Deathstrike. "Guardian robots and air superiority give Megatron many potent advantages. I can address both problems."

Hornet let Crimson go and blinked up at her as she asked a very weird question.

"I'm a... what?" he asked, not sure what she was getting at. Was she angry with him?

He took a step away and lowered his head, not sure if he had done something wrong or not, but guessing that he had. "W... Wheeljack said I was... an experiment," he said. "He said... he said I was different from the other Autobots because of the way he programmed me. I don't... know how."

The shocked sound in her voice continued to ring in his auditory sensors, and he felt tears coming to his optics again. "I'm... I'm sorry..." he said, not sure what he was supposed to be apologizing for. "I didn't mean to... do... to be... whatever I did..."

Oh scrap!
"No no! It's ok... it's ok, Hornet," Crimson said quickly, reaching out put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "You surprised me... did something that reminded me of children ... young offspring of a group of miners I allied with for a time." It was her turn to stutter and search for words. "I didn't mean to upset you!"

Hornet tried (with mixed success) to blink his tears of windshield wiper fluid back into his optics, though some of them ran down his face and splashed onto the ground. "It's okay..." he said, sniffing and wiping at his optics. "I just..."

He sighed and looked up at Crimson glumly. "I know I'm... not like everyone else," he said as seriously as his soft, chirpy voice would permit. "Wheeljack said that I'm... s'possed to grow up or something, like the humans do, but he... he isn't sure that I will. I just..." he blinked and lowered his head again. "I just wanna be like you guys. Like an Autobot."

"But everyone thinks I'm just an insect."

"Well... other than your pranks, and how you act before you think, you're not that different" Crimson said, and then chuckled. "Actually... considering HotRod... acting before you think seems to be a trait of some Autobots as well."

She started walking towards the base again, slowly, so he could keep up. "When ShellShock told you to go scout after Swiftshot's mayday, you went immediately. Stryke gave you an order I didn't quite understand, about an 'angle' or an 'angel', but you knew what he meant and did it." she continued, listing off the good things he'd done. "So far, you're looking like an Autobot to me."

Hornet jogged after Crimson to keep up, falling in next to her again. As she spoke, he could barely believe it, and when she ended by saying that she thought he looked like an Autobot (to some degree at least), his mood shot right back to overjoyed. "You... you really think so?!" he asked, almost unable to believe it.

Hornet was not the most balanced of Autobots in his reactions.

Once more without thinking, he ran up next to her and gave her a (lighter and quicker) hug around her waist, a big grin plastered onto his face. "Thanks, Crimson!!" he exclaimed with genuine gratitude. He did release her quicker this time (if only to avoid being dragged over the ground), and beamed up at her as he skipped and ran along to keep up.

Shellshock nodded. "But you understand, as much as you may hate Megatron or this war. We have to assume that you're lying. It's not the first time." Shellshock looked closer at Deathstrike. "No offense."

Once again, Crimson was surprised by the hug, although he did let go faster this time. She had to wonder if WheelJack used some of HotRod in programming the teenybot.

Thankfully they'd reached the base, and Crimson could look around to see where the other Bots were... Ah... there. "Looks like they've given DeathStrike a room," she said casually, starting to walk in that direction. Another bad habit of Autobots: curiosity. "You should thank him.. he's the one that told me to tell you to keep your nose up."

"I am not offended," replied Deathstrike. "They are sensible precautions. I hate neither war nor Megatron. My respect and admiration for him remains unchanged, although attempting to return to Decepticon ranks would most likely mean that he would destroy me."

Hornet looked curious as well to see what was going on with their Decepticon capture. He followed Crimson as she walked towards the location in question.

He folded his wings and looked offended. "I wasn't gonna crash into the ground!" he insisted. "I haven't done that in weeks... other than that time with the barn!"
