If it gets to the point where I'm going to be paying for that child's welfare while the mother does not wish the child at all, chances are I'm going to be the one raising it and taking care of it.

If I'm going to have to pay for the kid for 18 years or so, I'm going to be fighting for custody if I'm in a position to take care of the child.

If it comes to that point, I'm not most men, nor more people. If I want the kid, I want to take care of the kid and raise it. Will I marry the girl? Probably not. Marriage for the kid's sake never works.

I don't seek to make women's slaves to men. I just want a choice, some small part of the decision in whether or not my child is ever born.

But lets see here, here's the real issue here. If I don't want the responsibility for a kid, I don't have sex. As Tev says:
You don't want Responsiblity for a Baby? You dont' want a WOMAN to make the choice for YOU? WEAR A FUCKIN' CONDOM AND USE SPERMICIDAL LUBE YOU JERKOFFS, OR DON'T HAVE SEX AT ALL!
Lets change that a bit...
You don't want Responsiblity for a Baby? You dont' want a MAN to make the choice for YOU? MAKE HIM WEAR A FUCKIN' CONDOM AND USE A FUCKING PILL YOU JERKOFFS, OR DON'T HAVE SEX AT ALL!
The contraception bit only works it both partners are honest with each other about it. I can count myself lucky on this one. I had a girlfriend who I dated for quite awhile that I later found out had stopped taking her birth control because she decided she wanted a kid. Didn't ask my thoughts or feelings on the matter. Didn't tell me she had stopped taking it. Just stopped taking it and waited for nature to take its course. I'm sure this would be my fault somehow too, because I was using the proper protection, doing what I was suppose to, etc. But if she got pregnant and decided to keep it, I had no choice in this little surprise. For the record she was a bit...out there at times, but that's not the point. Ended up breaking up with her about two months later.

*shrugs* In the end, whether this law passes or not, one sex is the slave to the other when it comes to unwanted children.

I'm done. I'm through. I still want a say in the life or death of my child. I will not believe that I should not have some part of this decision other then being the sperm donor. Granted, I don't want the woman to die or take ill because of this, but if I wanted the child I would like some say in the matter.

The problem, B4, is you are arguing the law should presume responsible, non-harmful behavior automatically. That's kind of silly. That's like writing laws about murder when you presume all killing will be in completely justifiable self-defense.

You don't write laws presuming that people who get a girl pregnant will be someone she can talk to openly and honestly, as one would hope you could do so with someone you knocked up. You write it because there are dangerous, immoral assholes out there who indulge in such horrors as rape, abuse of all flavours, and incest.

I can quote too, B4... and I believe I've found the source of your ire over this matter.
You've had one woman try to sneak a baby on you, which unfortunately does happen. So now you're expecting All Women to act this way? Or are you just still so pissed at her taking the choice out of your hands, that you think No Woman should be given the chance to hurt you or any other man again?

Well, you're right, your girlfriend had no right to treat you that way, but this Bill is not the answer.

I would kind of like you to define what sort of "say" you want B4 and cleric. Saying you want a say is all well and good, and can be defined in 6 different ways, from having veto power over the woman's choice, to just having a moral right to talk to her about what her choice is going to be. So, define your positions.
