Pulled along like she weighed nothing, Crimson had to admit that it seemed Stryke wasn't that badly hurt, even if his head had all the paint taken off one side. A touch of guilt hit her ... he'd been talking to her instead of watching for incoming blasts. She could either apologise ... or accept that he was right and start treating the drones like dangerous enemies who could and would hurt them.

The single optic set in the drone's head blew apart in a flash of laserfire as Crimson popped up out of the foxhole-like crater. Another drone was hit by an ion bolt, the head disconnecting but the human stuck half-transformed from the ionization. Crimson dropped back down into the cover of the crater, head lowered as she spoke. "I'm sorry......"

Unleashing a flurry of energy blasts at a few drones, Stryke looked down for a brief second. Looking back up, the green warbot fired his cannon, the energy blast streaking out and impacting a drone, dropping it. He squatted down in the large crater. He reached out and put his hand on her shoulder. "It's my fault Crim." He said. "It'll be fine, I just need a new coat of paint." He joked, trying to keep her spirits up.

Fulcrum's in both jet and robot form swarmed from the undamaged launch bays - the northeastern quadrant of the main command base was decimated by the bunker busting shells. Only Decepticon building technology and emergency forcefields kept that entire quadrant from collapsing into ruin and taking the entire complement of drones with it.

Jetfire streaked through the sky, forward ion lasers firing rapidly as he target locked on the drones. the relatively weak laser fire of the drones scattered off him like he was covered in ablative armor, yet the scorch marks and dents where there. Undercarriage lasers as well as twin proton cannons on his upper fuselage help keep the sky clear about him, blasting any Fulcrum which got out of the firing arcs of his forward blasters.

A squadron of Fulcrum's circled around, coming up on Jetfire's aft. Lasers and missles streamed around as the humans piloting their drone craft gained target locks. While their MiG-29 based craft where technically inferior Jetfire's Cybertronian swing-wing form, they were also based off of Cybertroinan technology millions of years more advanced. It was only through judicial use of braking, juking, ECM and chaff, that Jetfire managed to keep from jetting a missle up his thruster assembly.

Growing weary of the game the squad of four fighters where pulling on him, Jetfire pulled himself into a inverse loop, firing afterburners meant to allow him to make escape velocity. The massive aircraft pulled heavenward, circling around in a 360° turn - keeping his cockpit pointed to the ground - and Transformed. Within a second, the aircraft was gone and Jetfire in his armored form appeared, twin-muzzled photon gatling in hand. The Fulcrum's where caught by surprise as Jetfire's weapon spat out a stream of blue energy - the river of power tearing out chunks of fuselage in the two lead planes before they exploded in mid-air. Jetfire's foot thrusters ignited, forcing him through the air as he took beads on one of the other fighters, and as the four head-mounted pulse lasers opened fire, one of the sidewinder like missles on his arm mounts rocketed off after the other. Both Fulcrum's where consumed in their own pyrotechnic displays, as fuel cores where ignited and the stored Energon released it's potential explosively.

Silverbolt and his Aerialbots twisted and corkscrewed through the air, Silverbolt's own weapons released massive bolts of silver lightning - his namesake weapon - through the air, and into the drones. The other Aerialbots used their own weapons, Fireflight in particular used his inferno missiles to create massive banks of his custom"fire-fog" in the path of squads of Fulcrums, laughing gleefully as they emerged localized firestorms disintegrating from the intense localized heat before exploding.

Powerglide was being the consummate showman, retorting at the formerly human pilots as he was engaged by three separate flights. His aerial acrobatics caused the missiles and lasers to shred their own comrades, instead of hitting himself - though it was putting a strain on him. Without firing a shot, he had the Fulcrum's take out two squadrons worth of their own comrades, but the missiles and lasers where getting closer. As if the Fulcrum pilots where adapting to him - learning his patterns and flightpath, and anticipating his moves. He was about to call for help, when one of the Fulcrum's AAMRAM missiles struck his tailsection. The explosion blew out one of his tail thrusters, smoke pouring off and drastically reducing his speed and stability. "I'm hit!" he called out, as his internals screamed multiple missile locks.

Powerglide spiraled through the air, losing altitude rapidly, his nose pointing lower and lower on the horizon. He was dropping quickly, momentum and gravity increasing his speed - 6000 ft....5000ft...4000ft...

At 3600ft, the Fulcrums released their payloads, sidewinder- and AAMRAM missiles, javelin- and sparrow-type missiles flew from the assorted Fulcrums. He poured power into his remaining thruster, trying to pull up, to gain altitude, to fight the pull of gravity, to try to evade the incoming bogeys. He ignore the warnings flashing across his optical sensors, his internal computers warning him of overload.

The secondary tail thrusters exploded a full five seconds before the first missile struck, the explosion of Energon created a fog which temporarily caused the missiles to lose target lock. Powerglide impacted the hardened permafrost of the Albertan tundra a few desperate moments later.

Hound, Jazz and Bluestreak where the closest to the battle of the land based Autobots. They saw Powerglide go down, and raced to goto him. While he was going at a high speed when he impacted, undoubtedly the Autobot flyer would survive the impact - It take smore than meeting ground at high speeds to break Cybertronian alloys after all. The streaks of the assorted missiles became evident a astrosecond later, and the explosion as they impacted the ground seemed like a nuclear warhead had detonated. Parts of Powerglide ejected into the atmosphere, flying upwards as the missiles explosive power was heightened by the refined Energon flowing through Powerglide's systems. Pieces of armor and limbs scatered in a fifteen mile radius. Powerglide's pointed head itself flew straight up, the optics dim, as it streaked across first Slipstreams, then Deathstrike's flight paths.....then tumbled to the Earth.

The Dinobots, while not as fast in the air as dedicated Autobot jets, still managed to arrive prior to the ground based Autobots.

Grimlock watched the coming drones, and rumbled deep within his vocal processor. Drones, not as fulfilling a kill as actual Decepticons, but still, it was a start. Grimlock seemed to sniff the air, as the Dinobots flew, randomly firing their wrist-mounted blasters. Fulcrums who flew into their range was summarily dispatched into balls of flaming wreckage.

"Shockwave here," Grimlock said throatily, drawing out his energo sword, the blade glowing red.

"My Slag crush One-Eye!"

"Me Grimlock agree. Dinobots! Transform and crush!"

In unison, the five Dinobots transformed, Grimlock, Slag, Sludge and Snarl landing on the ground hard as their massive dinosaur forms caused the ground the shake like a miniature earthquake. Robot form Fulcrum drones on the ground near the landing lost their sense of balance momentarily with the tremors. Fortunately for them, they did not have to suffer the lose for long. Dinobot claws and teeth ripped into their ranks, quickly shredding through the flimsy armor, as Fulcrum lasers bounced harmlessly off their Cybertronian steel hides.

The drones barely slowed down the Dinobots as they stomped on, Swoop providing them with more than adequate air support. the fact they had six kilometers to go before reaching the Decepticon base did little to stop their enthusiasm, for finally, after so many years, they'd obtain vengeance upon Shockwave.

"Autobots report" Optimus Prime said, leading the convoy of slower Autobots en route to the battlefield. The humans would catch up as soon as possibly, but their vehicles where no match for the speed of the Cybertronians. they may get there long after their help would be nessacry - but Prime couldn't be concerned with anything but stopping Shockwave's plans.

Twenty more miles before reaching Pontifex's outer perimeter, and if Starscream told the truth....

Well, if he didn't, and they made it out still functional, Prime was going to rip Starscream's treachrous Laser Core out with his bare hands.

One moment, Hornet was laying inside Overload's cavernous hull. The next, he was laying blinking on the tarmac with a swarm of humans scurrying all over him like fire ants, with no precise idea of how he had gotten from the one to the other.

This was a new thing for him. Normally when he got damaged, it was Wheeljack who was first on-scene to patch him up and remonstrate him for his carelessness. This time however, before Wheeljack could make an appearance, before Hornet so much as figured out what was going on, two large human vehicles had pulled up to him and a dozen humans had sprung out, dressed in the coveralls of ground mechanics for the human fighters. Hornet was a bit surprised as they immediately swarmed over him with soldering irons and welding torches and all manner of other tools he couldn't recognize. Wheeljack normally didn't allow anyone else to perform repairs to Hornet due to the fragility of his systems, but then what seemed like fragility to an Autobot was quite rugged indeed to a human.

They stripped away the duct tape, plugged up the energon and mech fluid leaks, and forced out some of the slag metal with a lathe. Welding and lathing hurt, and Hornet cried out once or twice and twitched, once knocking one of the mechanics over accidentally, but tried to be as still as he could, for he knew that they were trying to help. The mechanics said many things to one another, but none of them actually addressed him, and he remembered Wheeljack had told him that the humans had trouble thinking of the Autobots as people, rather than machines. He thus tried to keep quiet and still, though he noticed that the humans all raised their heads and froze whenever he cried out in pain, and accordingly he tried to do so as little as he could. Fortunately, the immediate work was soon over, and while the damage remained substantial, at the least they had stopped the leaks, plated over the exposed circuitry, and spliced some of the wiring in, such that his leg actuators, though still sluggish and stiff, could work enough for him to walk.

As the humans cleared off him, Hornet slowly staggered to his feet, and, still holding one hand over his injured stomach, began to limp his way towards the repair bay, thanking the humans as they fanned out towards other duties.
Gaze upon my works, ye mighty, and despair...

Havoc: "So basically if you side against him, he summons Cthulu."
Hotfoot: "Yes, which is reasonable."

That won him a small smile. "Military Green, nothing fancy," Crimson agreed, then rose over the lip of the crater to drop two more drones with well-placed shots. She started to say more as she dropped back down, but was interrupted by Prime's status request.

"Crimson reporting, with Stryke... we're pinned down by a wave of drones, about 15 miles from the perimeter."

I have been engaging the outer defenses of the fort. Peeling away weapon emplacements while the others destroyed drones. Vaguely I wonder if drones are a correct reference to something being piloted by a sapient creature. I file that line of thought away for further processing after the battle. The range is to great to engage with my cannon but my missiles are comfortably in their mid effective range making them a good choice.

Another bunker with a cannon in it explodes under my fire. The bunker buster missiles preform well, in fact they have a 12.34% increase in performance. I will inform Wheeljack, he will be glad to receive data on his modifications. This is good.

The weapons emplacements and bunkers are automated or drones. This is strange, without Con gunners they are less accurate by 45% and slower to target a moving Bot. This is not like Shockwave. I do not like this.

A quick check shows I am best positioned to relieve them and they likely need a push to keep the advance up.

"This is Breakout, I am heading towards Stryke and Crimson to relieve them." I report as I tear across the plain towards them. I continue the engagement with weapon emplacements as I move, every destroyed bunker and turret means less Bot and Human causalities and less wasted resources.

"Override... that's that crazy seeker that wants to get a look under your plates isn't it?" Shellshock grinned as he took aim on drones that were beginning to close on the wounded Powerglide.

Shellshock dropped a series of shells along the path to Powerglide far ahead of the Autobots that were heading out to secure him. Drones died by the handful but it still wasn't enough. There was no sign of the Decepticons yet, and if things kept going as they were, the Autobots would win, but then the Decepticons would come in and clean up the mess.

"Prime, this is Shellshock. I recommend calling off a small force to serve as reserves. There's no sign of Decepticons yet, and damage estimates from this fight just with the drones tells me that if we go all in none of us are going to be in any sort of condition to fight Decepticons afterwards."

Shellshock's mighty cannon locked in on the northeastern quadrant again. It would fall, no matter how much of a beating it took to accomplish it. Using aerial photos that he could pick up Shellshock targetted the loadbearing walls and struts that were left and began to blast away. The shrill whistle of artillery fire once again filling the air amongst laser blasts.

"That's the one. You'd not think a fembot would be a brawler.." Overload's mind was off in the past, as he pulled his partner along, leading the artillery contingent.

"Overload reporting. Hull has returned to normal temperature with only superficial damage, but Shellshock is correct. Ammunition expenditure alone is going to make us less than able to fight well when they finally come out of hiding."

Pontifex shook as the artillery barrage rained down on the ruined northeastern quadrant, and Shockwave watched impassively. He had expected such, given the Autobots gathered against his forces here. When the Fulcrum drones obliterated the annoyance known as Powerglide, Shockwave allowed a humph of satisfaction.

The Autobot fliers where keeping his air forces busy, the Autobot ground troops and humans were drawing closer. It was time he brought the Autobots closer to his base's main weapons.

"Shockwave to all drones, Defensive Pattern Epsilon-5. Fall back to a one-half kilometer perimeter of Pontifex."

Shockwave was pleased. So far, the cyborg drones where keeping the Autobots busy, and when the Autobots were weakened, he'd could allow his Decepticons to attack. Once the Autobots and Optimus Prime was crushed beneath him, and he had possession of the Matrix, the loss of this facility would be worth it.

The Dinobots who were rapidly approaching the base though....would require dealing with. Shockwave left the slitary confines of his command center, and strode through the base. Moments later, he was at the main gate, his sensors and internal GPS telling him the Dinobots where in direct line with him.

Shockwave transformed then, one moment the great purple one optic robot - the next, the massive floating laser gun. Eldritch energies crackled within the barrel for a brief moment, before a bolt of pure, purple energy flashed out.

The night sky was light like day, as the bolt of unadultered firepower streaked out, headed straight for the Dinobots - incinerating all that got in it's way.

The Fulcrumes in the air broke combat from the Autobot forces, afterburners leaving great plumes of exhaust behind them as they headed back to Pontifex as instructed.

The drones in combat on the ground suddenly broke rank, the heads seperating and transforming into the armored humanoids again, as they took off into the air. Some drones covered their compatriots fall back, yet still Autobot weapons fire managed to take down some of the fleeing drones.

The Dinobots, meanwhile, had ignored Prime's call, were ripping apart any Fulcrum which was unfortunate enough to be caught in their path.

Swoop was the first to see the coming energy beam, and called out his warning. He pulled up and away, just as Sludge was impacted by the river of power.

The massive robotic brontosaurus was thrown back by the force of the beam, his armor scorched and begining to slag in along his back, where he took the brunt of the beam. The other Dinobots, had thankfully, suffered little more than the energy wash.

I curse as I roll into Stryke and Crimson's area, engaging the enemy by cannon. One is actually so slow that I run him over. The drones are falling back. While it would be nice to assume it's fear of my combat abilities and firepower, odds of it being a order from Shockwave or another officer is 89.78%. I address Stryke and Crimson.

"Prime's ordered us to fall back and met up with the others. Stryke I would prefer you on the rear guard with me. Crimson do you know the way well enough to take the led there?"

Stryke looked down at Crimson. He wanted nothing more than to keep her safe, but he had orders. "Be careful," is all he could say, wanting to say more but not finding the words. The green warbot looked up at Breakout. "Understood." He said.

Shellshock saw the drones pulling back, they were trying to get them to think that the Autobots were winning, and the Dinobots looked like they were gonna fall for it. Stupid brutes.

Shellshock's cannon turned and pointed at Shockwave. This wasn't likely to do much, even if it did hit, but if he could manage to annoy him, maybe the Decepticon would slip up...

"Overload. I'm going to try to annoy Shockwave, you might want to get ready to get us out of here if this works."

There was a bark of fire as Shellshock launched a shell towards the purple monstrosity. A plasma shell was fired shortly after and then Shellshock went back to normal rounds as he tried to aggravate the Decepticon commander.

"I receive, Prime. Halting the advance." Overload ceased to proceed, remaining near the front of the human artillery colemn and watching over them. He de-coupled from Shellshock and transformed, grabbing his ion pistol. "We'll hold here unless you get some very unpleasant company, brother."

As Stryke quietly asked her to be careful, Crimson snorted distainfully at both of them. "Since it's the same ground I covered to get -here-, I think I can take the two of you back to meet with Prime." She climbed out of the crater before transforming. "Do you want me to hold your hands so you don't get lost? I'll only be riding first gear, so you can keep up."

If I had the ability I would roll my eyes. Civie bots are to thin skinned. I am a war machine not a party bot. If I want to insult someone I'll hit them not use mealy mouthed words.

"It is not the same ground Crimson, we are headed to a set of coordinates between here and the human base. Now please led the way or if you prefer to you may stay here and sulk." I say patiently.

Shockwave waited a few astroseconds after releasing the devastating bolt of energy, letting his reserves rebuild. He had not unleashed a bolt of that magnitude in what seemed like ages, but the Dinobots deserved no less.

His audio receptors picked up the whine of incoming artillery a mere second before the supersonic shell impacted the ground at his feet. Earth exploded upward, throwing the massive purple form back into the cybercrete construction of fortress. Other rounds impacted on and around him, shattering the fortress wall and destroying the permafrost beneath him. Steam and heat radiated off of Shockwave's form, as he calmly stepped free from the impression he made.

He did not bother returning fire, he would require his reserves against the Dinobots. He could sense them close, nearing the perimeter of the defense network. It would not slow them down, not now - after getting their attention.

"Shadow, Corneria, Black Mass, proceed to the Autobot positions and initiate plan Cypher."

From a position 40 miles east of the Autobot base, a bunker door slid open, as three Decepticon forms leaped into the air. The three silhouettes where not the typical masculine form, but curved like the human females, prominent swells in their chest plates, their limbs more lithe, their legs more curved. All three transformed simultaneously, Shadow and Corneria turning into Cybertronian style attack jets, while Black Mass kept to the ground, her alt mod a hovering tank with a massive cannon and twin missles.

All three forms where extremely stealthy, as they moved towards the Autobot position. The Female Decepticons would finally be able to help prove their metal finally.

Prime and the other Autobots arrived at the co-ordinates. Prime's trailer section detached, instead of disappearing as it normally did, it unfolded, revealing the battle station within - Roller speeding out of the back, and began a patrol, as the radar tower began a constant sweep of the sky.

Slipstream blew through the debris of another formation of drones. He was quickly losing count of how many drones he had downed, they were running together. He was zoned. When the call came to respond he didn't bother. That required concentration, acknowledgement of something outside of himself and what was immediately around him, outside of his zone of engagement.

Part of himself simply wouldn't allow him to shift his concentration like that, too many bad memories and experiances of what thinking did. Thinking accomplished nothing but getting him hurt. Doing, acting, being. They let him live, let him survive, let him triumph.

Another group was lined in his sights. He didn't allow himself to feel surprise when they turned tail and ran. He felt nothing. He knew there were humans inside the drones. He didn't care. He felt nothing for the humans, really. They were flesh, weak, frail. Slow to think, slow to act, slow to do anything. He still had no idea why the Autobots put such value on them. They made good 'music' but otherwise he saw little purpose in allowing them their insults. The drones hit the afterburners and tried to evade. They were fast. He was faster.

The distance between Slipstream and the drones was devoured by the second. The visable flames pouring out of his exhaust were magnificent in their intensity as they grew brighter and larger as he opened the throttle wider. As soon as he was in range he targeted them, creating firing solutions for three of the four which flared their deaths in a prismatic detonation of flame and debris. The fourth tried to veer off and escape. It was useless. The manuvering thrusters flared as half of them fired to force a high speed, low radius turn. The last drone came in his sights. The flash of laser cannon fire from under the nose signaled the final drones death.

He peeled off to find another target when the command came back for him to fly cover for the ground pounders. He inwardly signed as he resigned himself to his fate. He snapped off a quick series of barrel rolls as he changed his course to bear on the dirt dwellers.
"Slipstream acknowledges. ETA, six astroseconds."

It was not usual for him to disobey orders.

Nonetheless, in this particular situation closing within three miles was ill advised. He was not a fighter, at that distance from the decepticon base his stealth systems would perform outside of ideal parameters. Three miles was also extremely short range for the vast majority of his ordnance. The GBU-29IIA alone had a range of forty miles. As the rest of the autobot flyers raced to follow Optimus command he improvised closing the distance between him and the decepticon base but staying far enough back to allow him the necessary safety buffer that he required. As he did so, he utilized the full stealth of his sensor capability to maintain his stealth coefficient as high as possible. One single course correction moved him away from the bulk of autobot forces, making the likelihood of his detection through sensors that much more difficult.

He was already aware of the preliminary results of his initial assault on the decepticon facility. From the original formation of twenty five bombs only nine had arrived on target. His anti-radiation missiles had performed slightly better three out of five had found their marks. The loss rate was within acceptable limits. If he had desired he could have carried over two hundred GBU-29IIA’s but that ordnance load would have been too inflexible to deal with all potential threats. He was aware of the battlefield below predominantly through the usage of his drones which even now hugged the edges of the battlefield and tried to stay alive. The encrypted communications occurring in random directional bursts designed to make triangulation difficult. The decepticon base was awash with activity and not of the decepticon kind. The mass drones seemed like a living thing from his current altitude.

He changed his altitude climbing higher as internal processors calculated thousands of different strike packages utilizing dozens of variables ranging from his current location and ordnance load to geographic positions and existing landmarks. He had to make every shot count. Still, something felt unusual to him.

“Anyone curious as to where the real decepticons are?â€

Deathstrike banked and descended. He wouldn't be able to adequately cover the Autobots from this height. "Acknowledged Prime. Gamma ray spike on the ground suggests Shockwave has opened fire. Real Decepticons will probably begin to attack on all fronts."
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.
