Cynical Cat wrote:Gunmages are people with sorcerous talent that develop a fascination with pistols. They do not suffer from the same kind of prejudice that sorcerers suffer from. They can cast up to sixth level spells and have a list with a good list of combat and illusion spells. They can empower rune bullets with energy from their spells for extra damage, fire ray attacks from their guns (and gain the benefits of their pistol feats), and deliver ranged touch and touch spells by rune bullets. Can wear light armour without chance of spell failure and are decent fighters. They are a base class.
Ok, I'll admit you pegged me there. What about the 'Flashy' part?

This is true.

Ha Ha Ha.
Nitram should be more of a Paladin, not a mage.

And during all this....

I find it funny that Cynical found find no class to which I would be suitable.....

Thus there is no other reason than to assume I am a god of this game world....

Pistolier is a roguish prestige class with emphasis on close quarters pistol combat. Sneaky and dangerous.

Fisher I see as a striaght forward Fighter. Big mechanikal Caspain battleglaive (big fucking sword) and heavy mechanikal armour with mechanikal guns and a shit load of firearms and melee feets. Nothing fancy, just a straight ahead kick the door in fighter who ready to shoot and chop the opposition.

It wouldn't start for a while. Possibly a long while. I'm just establishing interest, not commitment.

I'd be interested. As for questions:

Can one dual class? I.e. be the arcane mechanik/warcaster you described me as?

Yes. Warcaster is a prestige class, one you have to meet the requirements of before you can join.

EDIT: You wouldn't start a Warcaster, although you might become one. They tend to be very powerful and well equiped.

What are the requirements, or what book are they listed in so I may find out these requirements?

Oh, and out of curiosity, does Iron Kingdoms use the same system as 3 or 3.5 D&D?

IK uses 3.5 D&D to approximate its setting. We won't be going with hard game mechanics, because its asking too fucking much of most players to get their hands on the books or scans of them in order to play. Warcaster as a prestige class is in the Iron Kingdoms Character Guide.

It requires skill points in 'jack handling, spell craft and concentration as well as the feats Leadership, Skill Focus: concentration, Combat Casting, and Iron Will. +4 base attack and 3rd level spell casting also required as well as special training. Its a demanding prestige class to enter.

Fluff wise, IK magic users tend to semi-specialized, having a lot of spell power but a somewhat restricted options. IK also introduces a bunch of spells relating to constructs and mechanika.

Well... I do like the Gunmage idea. I found ranged touch spells to be very nasty when I was playing a Sorc in one of Nitram's games.

To give you all an idea how fun the Orgoth were:

They are the blackest of things. I have seen them shearing the hair off women and chidlren to make rope with which to hang their own fathers and hsubands. While we strike at their armored beasts, they laugh. their robed women make play with strange words, turning the air dark with hate and casing fires that boil flesh. Even the prayers of our priests faze them little. They are implacale, as dark as the deepest waters of Meredius. They are made of hatred and blood and covered in armour wrought with leering faces that actually howl in torment. These Oroth have brought an evil stain with them.

Drow fan boys, look upon human evil and despair.

And in their own words:

You are ours. Your women, your children, they are no longer yours. you belong to us, your every breath, every drop of blood, every inch of skin. Every tear, every laugh, every broken bone, every drop of sweat is ours. your are the chattel of this land made fat by your own weakness. That I deign to speak to you this once is a warning. Your souls are ours, in death, you shall also belong to us.

It says so much about my diet for books that my reaction to the descriptions is 'Oh. Yet another arrogant race of badass sadists trying to oneup every other incarnation of the same template.'

Clearly, my fiction diet needs to improve to have better villains.
